If you are considering working here, I would highly recommend you read this warning. 

Current and former employees all have the same complaints. No work life balance, poor compensation, tons of workplace drama, high turnover and a decent amount of gaslighting.

Let’s break it down.

1. Work life balance: You are expected to be online for events nation wide (sometimes in person). The overtime worked on these events are not considered banked hours and they are not compensated extra. You are simply asked to work extra hours to help the team out. They are also always understaffed so employees are overloaded with clients and expected to take on multiple roles at the company.

2.Poor Compensation: This job would have great compensation if you worked a normal 35-40 hour week. Unfortunately, it’s not great compensation if you’re working 50-80 hours a week including evenings and weekends. **But don’t worry, you can live vicariously through the owners who brag about their kids ski trips, lavish vacations and nice cars. 

3. Workplace Drama: Starting from the top down, owners will frequently argue with each other or gossip about each other in team meetings. What’s worse is that if you make one small mistake, the entire company gossips about it within hours and this is now your entire reputation. Any good work you do in the company is quickly overshadowed by gossip and labels.

4. High Turnover: Most employees have a 1-3 year turnover rate but many have also not even lasting a whole year. There is not much room to move up and working so much overtime just to get a pat on the back gets old real quick. Not to mention the low job security with employees being let go with no notice or prior warnings.

5. Gaslighting and Empty Promises: There is no open line of communication to share your concerns without getting gaslit. If you bring up any of the above concerns, you will earn yourself a label and a reputation in the company as a complainer. Ownership is not open to feedback and empty promises of more support or additional compensation are always given. There is a pattern of overpromising and under delivering and employees are expected to pick up the pieces.


If you are looking to have no life outside of work, if you're looking for limited career progression, if you’re interested in making ownership money and if you want to feel chewed up and spit out like how most of  their current and former employees feel, this is the job for you!

I guess you can call this review… Karma.

Working as a Brand Ambassador at Karma Casting has been a rewarding and flexible experience. You apply for gigs and sometimes get them, which allows you to choose what you work. While expenses aren’t typically covered, you often get to meet exciting companies, see behind-the-scenes operations, and sometimes receive free products depending on the gig. Workload varies — some months are slower while others are jam-packed — so being organized and a people person is important. If you’re not willing to work with others and be friendly, this role isn’t for you. There’s never a dull moment, and the staff are supportive and approachable, making it an enjoyable environment overall.

Interesting opportunities are being offered on a contract basis, however, if you don’t fit the ‘profile’ they are looking for, there a very few ‘gigs’ assigned.
I’ve worked twice at the beer store for the 20+ applications sent to Karma for various events in the last 4 months.
Opportunities were robust at the beginning, then tapered off to a couple per month.
Pay is good but only if you get the opportunity to work.

The pay is great, always paid (via e transfer) within max 72 hours of your shift and communication is fast and easy. You get what you put into it, so I highly recommend taking the time to make a professional and concrete profile. I love that it's all done in an app so you can check in as frequently as you'd like for new job postings and update your experience as necessary.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Good range of products to do tastings with, very quick to pay (in less than a week!) And it's easy to use their app.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not much! They communicate pretty well and help problem solve anything that comes up. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
None. It's independent work at changing locations. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Get to the location, check in and get ready to work!

The workplace is engaging and productive, it helps to build customer service skills and to even better them. Overall experience is varied depending on the marketing gig for the day/week/weekend. It helped in building competitive and collaborative skills, especially when working with a team.

Karma Casting is one of my favourite experiential marketing companies to work brand ambassador gigs for. Their app is easy to use, the gigs tend to be quite fun and high-paying, and they do very little micro-managing... they trust us that we do a good job, and they're even quite forgiving of mistakes made. The only issue is that you might not get all the gigs you apply for, but other than that, highly recommend!

-Liaise between various brands and the consumers
-Achieved sales through informing consumers about product and providing samples 
-Communicated sale progress with managers 
-Led booth set ups for product samplings

Karma Casting has a lot of very exciting events that brand ambassadors work at. You always get to meet new people and represent new brands. Unfortunately it may not provide stable income and is more of a part-time job.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Easy to work with, great communications, prompt payment. Would definitely work for Karma Casting again!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Remember to invoice your hours within the app. Was my error and they are very good to work with.
