Kato Electrical Inc

Worked for Kato for a bit less than a year and was randomly laid off. I had full time work for the whole time I was there but all of a sudden on a Sunday morning I get a text that I was laid off.  The majority of the employees are nice and easy to work with. The owner is very hands off and does not seem to care about his employees. The entire time I worked for Kato I was never given a raise or a review or even bought a cup of coffee, no christmas bonus or merry christmas or even a good job today. The atmosphere felt very hostile. The majority of the employees had not been with the company for long and there really wasn't a lot of camaraderie . Always felt as though I was often in the dark about how long I would be at a job or where I would be going the next day. There are definitely better opportunities out there especially if you are early in your apprenticeship.   

What is the best part of working at the company?
I have been a service electrician for over 20 years and have experienced many companies that didn't really care about their employees. Having worked for Kato for over 3 years now, I've found the company to be very supportive on the job as well as keeping employees connected through organized events. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
As a service electrician, some days can bear hard on us especially with difficult customers. Kato has been very supportive in this situations. Not all days are good days in this job, unfortunately. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
In service we're provided with a lot of autonomy, although the company makes efforts to keep fellow employees connected.

Only good things to say about Arthur and his crew/company he is running. Being the owner of a company and still being implemented in every project to deliver 100% satisfaction is Arthurs specialty. 

Very profession company/management and top quality work.

Employee's that work for Kato make the name, environment, and atmosphere feel different than any different company.

Being journeyman and running sites was an amazing experience with my time at Kato.

I am greatly thankful that I had the honour to learn from Arthur and to be given the opportunity he gave me with my time being a team member for his company.

workplace culture: they want to give you more responsibility, but not more pay, until well after you've been in an underpaid position for a while. they give super vague feedback about job performance (ie management won't tell who said what, when they said it, or what site/work it pertains to. They won't tell you how to improve). There are many jobs being run without a single red seal journeyperson , or first aid qualified person present. They will require a doctor's note for any sick days. certain foremen will ask you to work overtime/weekends without paying you overtime pay. 

KATO...good idea on how a company should be run, it just isn’t big enough to work. Luckily one of the partners left, he was one of the worst persons i had ever worked for. The partner that stayed is a good guy though. The only issue i had was the BIG promise of BIG things coming in the future...they never came. This is a good place to work if you don’t want to make a competitive wage, but there’s alot better places to be as far as wage, learning, truthfullness goes. Glad to hear the current partner is no longer working with the other one who left to Ontario, that guy was a complete idiot. I heard he’s still jumping around companies out there too...

Kato has been a great place for me to learn my trade along side many helpful journeymen. Management is always making sure their employees are happy and anjoy the environment they are in. Their jobs have been a joy to work at as they are always different and with reputable contractors. The owner is very focused on creating an enjoyable company to work for so I always enjoy going to work and getting things done. Highly recommend this company. 

I have been working with Kato electrical for over two years. Exciting projects and opportunity for advancement. Work/life balance is great as work is in-town so at home every night. 

The management is excellent and very helpful when needed but do not micro-manage. They trust our abilities as skilled tradesmen and show respect for all employees. 

Kato has a great team and if you like to learn, work hard and make money it would be a great fit. 

They have a commercial division and high end residential division. 

Had the pleasure of doing my practicum for these guys, learned a lot about residential and commercial jobs. They went far above and beyond most other companies paying me for my entire practicum. Steady work for about 2 months then unfortunately ran out of work for me and a couple other guys. Great atmosphere, good work environment, good hours and understanding bosses.

I've had the privilege to work for this company for the past 6 months. With residential and commercial jobs being undertaken by the company I got a diverse experience in learning the Canadian ways to be a skillful electrician. The boss loves to take the company out when he can for drinks/events and ontop of that is a top notch bloke. Would recommend to anyone looking for the next up and coming electrical company to work for
