I have been in sales for the past 27 years or so working for both small and large  size companies.
If you are considering working for Kaycan you will need extremely thick skin to survive this iron hand totalitarian mentality.
The owner along with upper management lead by fear constantly abusing employees using scare tactics as they believe intimidation is what actually motivates people.
It’s hard to believe this philosophy & culture in the workplace still exists in 2014.
Common courtesy & proper business etiquette simply does not exist here as managers follow the lead of the owner by bullying people in the ugliest of manners.
Kaycan honestly feels like a company run by a tyrant during the turn of the century crucifying their employees at every opportunity.
During my first month as I was walking through the building what became very evident was how unhappy the employees were intimidated to even look up from their desk.
I am someone who is self motivated with no need for recognition however this place takes the cake for undermining their employees.
The conference calls with the sales and marketing team are basically a beat down towards the sales force with constant threats of getting fired.
Forget about any kind of support as the first 2 weeks is on the field training and from there you are left to fend for yourself handling over 150 accounts with a gigantic territory along with hundreds of products to service and sell yet absolutely no one to call if you need a hand.
If you enjoy an atmosphere where fear is what management feels motivates people then this is the place for you.
Otherwise do yourself a favor by keeping your pride, respect & self-esteem & kindly look elsewhere.

Job was alright, But you hand bombed trailers full from the ground up then hand bombed your truck then when at the job job site hand bombed it there too. If you where slow because you get sore it was a issue, get told this is a fast pace job.. Didn't have a flat bed or moffet truck. Or it takes you a long time at the job site they say something.. You get a hour lunch but you can never take it if your on the road if you are busy... So you say no and bank it. They get annoyed when you dont but you dont have a choice. 

It's not a great job but its not totally bad ether. The primary driver thinks he can do what he wants and does it anyway, with reputations. He thinks the main truck is his. The warehouse manager after a week will think you know it all and lack direction. Expect you to clean and organize the warehouse then tell you its wrong, You make a suggestion on how to improve it tells you its a good idea then says we don't have time but will complain about the warehouse. Then screws off and flirts with staff up front. The warehouse is the worse one of them all in Ontario and needs up keep and cleaning but management are so confused and clueless and wont let you suggest to them anything nor will they get things in place to have product put away properly but if you don't do it you get in trouble.. even tho if you do you will get yelled at anyway. It's a mind screw of a job and you lose motivation fast to do anything based on the 2 guys there..

I feel like the overall work experience while being with Kaycan has been positive. 

I feel productive at work. The work that is expected out of me is easy, straightforward, and manageable. I don't take my work home with me and it's a nice feeling from where I was before. 

We currently have Kaycan 360 which includes all new and evolving training. This includes product knowledge as products are constantly being evolved, customer service, and security.  

I feel given the economic state we are in, especially in Alberta the compensation can be improved. That is an upper management issue however and I feel like my direct manager and branch operations manager do advocate for me and my needs. They are just hit with a brick wall when it get's taken to head office. That being said, with Kaycan being acquisitioned by Saint Gobain / Certainteed - this might change. 

It is nice to come in to work and get to know the contractors, business owners, installers and drivers for each company that we do business with. I feel like as a customer experience employee I have been able to improve my skills to better understand and provide for my customers needs with Kaycan. 

Horrible work place, I worked here for 3 years. They are constantly over working employees because in the Eastside of Canada all of their facilities lacking employees, so everything is over ran, all of the work equipment is outdated and breaks all the time, and when they do fix it, it is all just makeshift fixes out of wood and or with cheap parts that break with in a month, they will cheap out of every expense, as well the management is spineless to the higher ups and will do everything they say despite of if they breaks laws or if it will put workers in danger of being over worked. There is a lot of drama in the work place and gossip and is very unprofessional. And I haven't seen such I higher turnover rate. Supervisor pick favorites based off of if you can "be cool" and basically get along with them. You can move up in the company pretty fast if you make friends and don't be a horrible person and agree with everything your supervisor says.

During the first few weeks, managers are extremely supportive, but this does not last very long.  I started noticing that there is something wrong with the overall management style.  Besides micro managing everyone, employees get screamed at continuously - and then just when you think it won't happen to you, it does.  Bottom line:  Owners need to learn how to treat their employees with respect.  As a previous rater indicated “they bark”.  I’ll even go further and say that “they scream” and you don’t even know when to expect it – which is absolutely unbelievable that such a management style exist in 2013.    They rule by fear – and employees are afraid of them.   Older staff say they are “stuck” there given their age and limited experience, while newer staff are continuously looking for work elsewhere.    Yes, turnover is extremely high with the newer staff.  If you have no respect for yourself and don't mind getting screamed at on a regular basis for no good reason, then you will fit right in.

You are the first point of contact with the customers over phone, email and in person. Order entry computer program is easy to deal with once you get the hang of it and all company processes are easy to follow. You deal in direct contact with head office staff/management on a daily basis which grows a great connection with people all across Canada. There is always room to grow within the company which is great!

All members of the staff are amazing to work with. Everyone is willing to work as a team and if you need help to learn something there is always someone with the answers and is willing to help. All appropriate training is provided at branch level and head office is always a call away to help with any questions you may have. You learn a lot about siding materials and the siding industry in a whole working for this company which to me is very interesting and something I enjoy.
All around I love my job at Kaycan and have no complaints!

This specific branch is terrible to work at due to middle management being liars. They'll hire you when its in the off season and slow, expect you to find stuff to do when there are literally ZERO orders coming in and then fire you with no feedback or a chance to correct yourself all while lying to your face that they "cannot afford" to keep you but your position will be posted on job sites the next day. Very scummy.

Your paychecks are laughable and the chance of advancing ANYWHERE in the company entirely depends on if they like you enough and not what you bring to the table with skills and experience.

Everybody below management are EXCELLENT and very accommodating to new employees, they deserve better than to work here honestly. Work schedule is Monday to Friday, steady shifts with no weekends ever. That is about the only positive thing to say about this position.

When I first started, it was a mess. The former manager was all over the place, micro-managing, stress-inducing, you name it. And it wore down to the employees, including me. Needless to say, the turnover rate was quite high at the time. The only saving grace was their benefits, work/life balance and warehouse foreman and their salesmen who knew their jobs inside and out. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t have kept my cool for very long.

Now it’s gotten much better.  They have better people in management, the morale is higher, the crew is very easygoing, competitive and they work real hard. When I came back, it was like a full 180 turn-around and we got so much done that we wanted to get done, but couldn’t before. They were very accommodating to my schedule and I was happy to work for them. It was tough to leave under the circumstances of COVID, but they are definitely a good bunch of folks to work for now if you’re looking for work.

I did my internship in Kaycan and started with the Human Resources and Payroll department. I was lucky enough that they offered me a summer position with them after completing my internship. A lot of job openings are always available. I learned so much, I have been working with Kaycan for almost 4 months now and I already got the chance to work in so many different departments to get a general idea of how the whole business works. I worked in Human Resources, Payroll, Credits, Order desk, Costumer service and Reception.  
It's a very welcoming and respectful environment. The management team is always open to listen to our opinions, feedbacks and suggestions. They value you not only as their employee but also as a person and encourage you to be better in your job.
I highly recommend to work at Kaycan, there is always a place for everybody and helpful collogues.   

Definitely needs improvement. Mostly all new people which feels like they all need to prove something. They all feel like they need to be boss. I personally wouldn't trust them with anything you want confidential. They need to take the time to train and work with the new people they hire. They are understaffed which is unfortunate and can't help out customers properly. Manager isn't or is hardly around to help out. They say "people make mistakes" but when you do they look down on you or write you up. You always feel like your working your butt off, doing your best for them and for the company but for little appreciation. Warehouse is small, very hard to work around, product is placed everywhere and anywhere due to the lack of space, they are still working around their safety hazards and procedures.
