I worked for KPCL for 3 seasons. I gained so much experience from them. I started out as a labourer making $18 an hour. No raise on my $18 wage during 2nd season. On my 3rd season I was hired as a Class 1A driver making $21 and i was given training on some heavy equipment. Some days workers were yelled at over the radio channels including myself if workers were slow. The time off you would get would be "rain days" or long weekends. You would have to request time off and it would be up to the supervisors/superintendent. Work was hard especially if you were a labourer but the pay was good because of all the overtime accumulated. I feel like labourers were treated worse than heavy equipment operators based on my experience. Half the bosses were awesome, half of them were not. 3 SEASONS i worked for these guys. Some days were hard and some days just flew by quick. Working for them, you sometimes feel like a big family. If you work hard then you'll be fine. I worked at 4 different sites with this company. They are strict at times but if you do your job you'll be fine. I am a Aboriginal. (Cree Native)

I thought they were best company ever until I got hurt on job.than things changed.i was cut down .made it look like it was my fault.now I'm dirt to them and can't get a job anywhere cause I use them as reference.i would do anything they asked of me and at one time they were there for me and my family.the people that work for them are great but there are a few favorites that pretty much can get away with anything.one thing I'll say they get the work done and they did teach me alot.i just think things changed there and some people will do anything to keep there job.

Sometimes the locations are quite remote and that can add stress if you're not mentally prepared for that in a workplace

What environment is always good and the culture is that of teamwork

Great and cheerful the workload can be intense sometimes but this company is open to suggestions and growth

All newer model CAT equipment thats well maintained. Good bunch of people to work with. Lots of safety and good communication.

Very fast paced at times. Can be stressfull if u let it be.

Great safety culture. Never a dumb question. Supervision always will go out of their way to help solve a problem for u. Happy and positive atmosphere for the most part.

Safety meeting, work and go home

Great place for work advancement. Started as a laborer and left as a heavy equipment operator my last work season.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I would say needing to carry so many bottles of water some summer days.

Great workplace to grow skills that are essential personally and in the workplace.


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I was in the camp so breakfast, lunch and supper were all prepared so that was at least one less thing to worry about after a work day.

Not the worst place to work, but definitely not the best. The pay isn't fantastic, but a lot of the guys there are great to work with and joke around with. There isn't a lot of time for your family, with only having between 1 and 3 days off at most sites. The company allows you to learn a lot about certain pieces of heavy equipment, but from my experience, they don't really allow you to grow within the company unless you know someone within the ranks.

Was alright till I left to a higher paying job without notice was told 22 to 24 a hr and when I left they put it down to minimum wage for operating rocktruck.I uses to make that wage 40 yrs ago operating.Had to used my own wheels to site and back to camp 80kms round trip definitely wasn't worth it.Tried phoning to talk to someone about my wage and no response given the run around so mitas report them to labor board 

New equipment, lots of opportunity to learn different pieces of equipment. Long days specially for those that are far from home. The 11-3 isn’t great for family life. They could do better on wages. If you come to rocanville managment is all over, and micro managing is high. An if you’re female coming to work watch yourself around the superintendent he makes lots of lewd comments towards them.( some very gross comments made)

Schedule is 11 on 3 off and sometimes they want you to work more than the 11, you don’t get any notice that you are being sent to different sites and management doesn’t always tell you they are sending you somewhere else you just get a call from safety to do orientations. Mechanics and lubbers are understaffed but still expected to get everything done 

Greatest place I’ve been at, I really enjoy going to work and running equipment for them, everyone I’ve met there is nice and they respect you, and treat you really good. The camp is great but wifi wasn’t to good but the food was good and on site gym was great. I look forward to having a career with this company. There’s lots of room for advancement within the company, and I highly recommend KPCL.
