Working at Kerr is like working at a circus with the ownership and the management being both the clowns and the monkeys.. Management has absolutely no idea what is going on in the shop or how to do current builds and you don't see or hear from the ownership or their kin unless they're screaming at you or belittling you..  
If you decide to work at Kerr as an Upfitter you will: 
- Constantly wait for parts to be shipped in (ie. Nuts, bolts, wiring harnesses, brackets, etc.) to be able to properly upfit the emergency vehicles.
- Always having to wait for the minimal amount of tools supplied by the shop (because there's only 1 or 2 [if you're lucky] bought for roughly 25 people to use)
 - Work on vehicles with unfinished and backwards instructions (or just zero instruction all together).
- Be yelled at for helping the other employees (but remember.. management has no idea what to do, so if you go to them for help 9.5 times out of 10 they will go to the same person *you* went to, to ask to ask them to help you)
- Fight for raises that you are entitled to as per your union contract.
- Have completely different rules and regulations from day shift to night shift (that one definitely creates a great atmosphere between the two shifts [please note the sarcasm])
In short.. I could go on forever about why I think Kerr is an awful place to work, my only suggestion to you if you're thinking of applying here is simply 'DON'T'. Just turn, and walk away.. because I promise you, you'll be looking for another job within your first month of employment..
This place isn't worth your time and the ownership doesn't deserve any form of dedication.

Kerr is actually a really decent place to work. I come from many backgrounds and find I enjoy my job here. More recently a lot has changed and they have been looking over past issues to succeed better with a better team. Like any company that goes through massive growth in a short period of time. There will be challenges and unforeseen hurdles as we continue to grow. One of the biggest challenges at the moment everyone in this industry is facing is supply chain shortages. However, during the 'teenage' years / struggles we're getting over some of those growing pains and really coming into our own and re-establishing our business and clarifying our goals and delivering clear plans to be successful. Everything used to be extremely fun and carefree, but things always were when you were a kid right! Now that we're growing up, things are a little more serious, but this is critical to continue to evolve as a business and meet competitors standers. Also, in context of a global pandemic, Kerr is consistently exceeding expectations of how it is supporting its employees and clients and I am truly proud to be a part of this team.


If you can work through and deal with all the bull it's not a bad place to work. Problem is there is a lot of bull.
They won't plow or salt the yard until after someone has fallen and gotten hurt. 
They are supposed to supply you with a new drill and other tools when you get hired, but the drill is just a hand me down from another employee after they get frustrated and buy their own because the drills are worn out and old and the batteries won't get you through 1 use. 
They make a bunch of empty promises. 
The pay's are constantly getting screwed up, they either don't pay you enough, don't give you a raise when you are entitled to it, forget to deduct union dues or deduct to much for union dues, holiday requests are a struggle. 
They think having a pizza party every 6 months is a good way of rewarding employees (we are not in grade 5 anymore).
The shop is to small for what they want to accomplish and it is constantly cluttered with parts.
That's just some of it. If you can work through it it's a good place to work for, the shop employees are all good with each other and really gel together.



If you want to work for a company with terrible management and no appreciation for their floor staff then this is the place for you. If you want to have to beg for your raises that are outlined in your contract, this is the company for you, and finally, if you enjoy completing your work to a high level of quality with good attention to detail and get paid the same as people who do their job with zero regard for proper procedure or attention  to detail, yet never get fired, then this is it. You have made it. This is company has the most toxic work culture I have ever experienced first hand as a employee, there is constant problems with parts supply and car supply, negativity is rampant and clashes between company and union are endless, as the company exhibits all the reasons of why unions even exist in the first place. Just stay away. That's my advice. Save yourself the stress. 

If you enjoy building cars for way less pay then you should be getting then this is the place for you! Management has no clue what goes on, on the shop floor, they claim we have all the parts but we always have to wait more than a day minimum, this place is full of nepotism, you can’t trust anybody, the shop is falling apart but they don’t care, never get thanked for the work you do, you’ll never move up, once a production worker always a production worker, if you’re looking for a joke of a job, come on down, there’s always people lined up down the street, “banging down the doors to get in here”, that’s a quote from management. So come on down to the top 5% paying, market leading quality, and let’s not forget that you will always be successful through teamwork. 

If you are looking for a place that you can work in the automotive industry that is indoors, in a heated garage and you won't go home dirty this is the place for you. You will be working on brand new cars and the work is not difficult. The position is within a Union and benefits will be available to you after probation. Learning the builds will take a few weeks but afterward will become easy and memorized.  8hr shifts fly by when working on the builds. 

The negative reviews that are on here are NOT true. If you are willing to learn (not hard stuff), willing to show up to your shift, and complete your tasks in a timely matter you won't have any problems within the company. 


Management and engineering have no idea what goes on with the work on the floor.

Place is totally disorganized and is a constant revolving door with the insane turnover.

You'll more than likely be fired a couple days before your 3 month probation is complete.

If you work in the wire harness room it's a literal sweatshop.  It's mostly glass windows and faces south east...so in the summer the place is scorching hot with no air conditioning.

Work is ok but management is terrible no loyality employees
Any time there was a meeting employees always getting trouble for something, never ever have they told us we are doing a great job. They have a level system for pay you start at level 2 and dont move up until someone has left from higher level they had same benifits as most places but no pension plan. Alot of people dont stick around long and look for other work as I did

Trying to help improve and provide modern day organization and structure is frowned on.  treated like you have no knowledge or expertise in position. 

I've found that there's conflicting direction when it comes to management and some butting of heads, hence the culture rating. That being said I've seen and continue to see growth in all aspects where there are shortfalls. Many of the people are good to work with with very few exceptions, not unlike any workplace. Overall decent, and don't mind the day to day.
