I enjoyed my time there until I wanted to advance. The Grande Prairie managers are great people and easy to get along with. do not expect to advance for a few more years though because the shop is only a year old so it is basically ran by the 2 managers, shop foreman and head service tech. they are all great people who do their jobs well, there is just no room for advancement yet. the service representatives get the best perks; a truck, fuel card, cell phone, awesome annual bonus of 3 dollars for every hour worked in the year, a 2 dollar a hour addition to your pay if you are working out of shop and a annual paid weekend retreat in the mountains. unfortunately I did not get any of those things as a shop laborer. They have camp work as well, although it is not always available or steady they will work you in the shop if you camps are unavailable. all of your tickets and courses are paid for as long as you work for three months after. They have offices in Edmonton (head office) Fort Mac, Fort St John, Fort Nelson and Grande Prairie (the newest) head office is still trying to control everything and it is affecting quality of work. I was told for every 30 people hired only 10 stay past the 3 month probationary period and only 3 of the 10 stay after a year. Personally I think that is ridiculous and should give you a idea of what the company really thinks of its employees, Its easier to hire someone new they say. Iv never seen anyone get fired or suspended and honestly they should have been. So don't worry if you are late often or like to bend the rules because they wont fire you, just give you a slap on the wrist and send you back to work.

Great wages,  good work environment, helpful coworkers, loads of perks and tons of hours. I have worked for this company for nearly a year, and with confidence I can say it has been the best job of my life. The workload is skill testing and thought provoking. It has been a difficult and taxing challenge to keep up with the pace. The senior workers hold their work in high regard and are willing to help if you're willing to listen and learn. It takes humility, dedication, drive and respect to succeed in this workplace.  The management, I can whole-heartedly state;  they are the best employers I have had the opportunity to work under, seasoned veterans of the bottom rung and fought tooth and nail for their positions. Both the General Manager and Assistant Manager have high standards and expectations for quality of work and keep their workers pushing - fighting to achieve the level of company standards they did. Anyone who hasn't made the cut lacked one of the four aforementioned traits required to succeed, and more importantly advance in this company. If you're looking into this line of work and have never had an occupation of similar weight, get ready for the ride of your life.

I feel 100% at home here at my job. 

My job at Ketek is fast-paced, challenging and exciting. My role is ever changing and evolving, I always feel I have the ability to excel and grow with the company (I've been with the company for 3 years now and have changed roles 3 times moving up a rung each time) I feel that the company really values their employees and doesn't just treat them like numbers like the big corporations do (I am a former employee at one of those big corporations) 

Pros: Great Co-Workers, Ability To Grow, Supportive Management Team, Outstanding Ever Improving Safety Culture, Family Owned & Operated Business

Cons: Benefits aren't 100% the best (But hey at least we have em'), Stressful busy season, Changing procedures don't always get communicated properly

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Job expectations changed that didn’t allow sufficient time for my learning curve.  My expectations were high but the stress passed onto administrative support from management was unjust.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Too focused on their bottom line at the expense of their employees.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Plenty of variety in the office but intense expectations to stop one task and jump into another constantly.  This was in the Training and Safety department where many trades people were being hired and training was continuous and we were expected to get them through the process faster and faster.

Overall a good place to work. Lots of variety in work and challenges. A place that fosters growth and opportunity to solve problems. If support is needed you will get it, and there is a lot of knowledge to be shared in this company. Individuals who show an interest in growing and who take initiative will thrive here, but don't expect to be immediately handed reward without earning it. Family business still has a lot of the benefits of accommodating employees needs, bbq's and other family events (pre and hopefully post covid of course), discounts with vendors forwarded to staff, and more. While some people don't see the challenges faced as a business in these markets, and expect the company to be perfect, i do think they do a good job of trying to protect the employees interests and in particular trying to protect jobs. I myself have been given opportunity to grow, and i have seen many others do the same. 

This company is absolutely ridiculous.

They are the cheapest, ungreatful most toxic company I’ve ever been with.

-They will write you up over anything.
-They preach safety until it’s a time crunch or wanting to impress the client with how fast they can do the job.
-Raises are non existent.
-They refuse to get running water in our laydown and heated bathrooms. We’re using portable potties in -45 weather. They make up a excuse they’ve been trying to get some up here *theyve been on this site for 4+ years*
-They here clueless people for jobs they have no experience with.
-They give family members higher wages against guys who are non family with more experience.
-Project managers are utterly clueless with no idea what’s going on.
-Speaking your mind or standing up will
Get you in BIG trouble.

Stay far away from this company.

I was the sole administrator and was put in charge of all OH&S duties. This was a new field for me. It was all on the job learning and had to learn it on my own. It was a great experience and showed me many different aspects of the administration job. I was the only woman working in an Oilfield rentals office. I found this to be quite enjoyable as the men were all very respectful and helpful when I needed it. I was given a lot of room to take the job and turn it into what I wanted. I appreciated the trust that my bosses put in my and we all built a great relationship from it. The hardest part of the job would have also been being the only woman. There were times when all the men were having "shop talk" and would have been nice to engage with other women.

Family run company and with high standards  - excellent training and wide variety of tasks in the field as well as in manufacturing and maintenance activities.

Meeting client requirements at short notice and at times under adverse weather conditions. Every project is different and requires 24/7 attention.

Daily schedule of tasks and contact with others to ensure all aspects of the business are met.

A typical day at work involves long hours, tight deadlines and overseeing all employees on the crew are keeping up with their duties and responsibilties throughout the day day. Assess problems and defects, trouble shooting any situations. Daily paperwork and billing to Consultant of contracting company. The job constantly teaches you both mechanically and as a leader of a crew you learn valuable people and leadership skills. Very easy to work with and Im always trying to strengthen my crew hands on and with professional skills. Everyday is stressful, because striving for perfection is the daily demand and requirement, but each day leaves you with a huge sense of accomplishment when you leave for the day.
