The Root Causes
From what you've described, some of the core issues seem to be:
 * Lack of Clear Roles and Responsibilities: Everyone seems to be stepping on each other's toes, with operations inspecting maintenance, maintenance repairing operational damage, and hourly staff doing out-of-scope tasks.
 * Misaligned Incentives: The push for throughput is overriding quality and safety. Salaried supervisors are incentivized by "customer service" (likely meaning keeping the pipeline running at any cost) rather than quality control.
 * Insufficient Resources/Time Allotment: The "rushing" and "fighting the clock" suggest that the time and resources allocated for maintenance tasks are simply insufficient to perform them correctly and safely.
 * Lack of Trust and Communication: The animosity between groups is a symptom of deeper issues—likely a lack of trust in each other's capabilities and motivations, compounded by poor communication channels.
This situation sounds incredibly stressful for everyone involved. Addressing these issues will require a systemic approach, looking beyond individual blame to the processes and pressures that are shaping everyone's behavior.

Upper Management never takes any input from Operations. Sink or swim training environment and lack of it for Operations. Very negative non friendly employees that always wanted to shine and look better than you. Preach safety but all of the Operators take shortcuts. 70% of your day is paperwork so you are always falling behind. Alot of equipment should be updated and better integrity standards. No job security and they don't truly care about their people like they say they do. Senseless procedures and standards in place without input from Operations. To much responsibility and work load for Operators that does not pertain to their job scope. Pay is not that competitive. Poor job planning process for time management. Finger is always pointed at operations with high stress load. 

A conservative oil and gas company that pays decently, saves money in good times, and spends during recessions. The executive team are some of the best in the industry - smart, informed, decisive, and approachable. They foster an environment where everyone is respected. 

Keyera actually cares about its employees. You aren't a number, you aren't disposable, you aren't afraid for your wellbeing because of a downturn. Once you're in there are a lot of opportunities and access to training. They normally try to hire from within. 

From what I've heard from colleagues, Keyera doespay less than other O&G companies, but we all earn a VERY fair salary compared to non-O&G companies, and receive good benefits. If you're just looking to make a quick buck, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a great, rewarding, career in a balanced and stable company, apply at Keyera

I was laid off, while new contractors were kept. Biased, favoritism, corrupt management was very prevalent...  Serious HR concerns/problems not taken seriously or investigated. Upper Management backed all levels of leaders, without listening to employee concerns. Many woman were fired or let go and not given chances to progress. I was the only aboriginal at my site during my lay off. Biases felt personal at times. Coworkers were great. Work was good, breaks and offices were nice.

Field staff on the pipeline side were great bunch to work with!

Politics that were not there in the pass grew to unacceptable levels.

Field culture was fun and enjoyable. If you fit in the cliques.

Do the work of 3 and be treated like you knew nothing.

The money.  Nothing to add really.

Dealing with the constant management by accountant.

Frontline staff was great overall.  Mid level management was getting hard to take.  They were starting to squeeze the senior staff.

Run and manage a gas plant in the Alberta foothills

Keyera use to be a great place to work. One I was proud to be a part of and truly cared about making a better place. Now however it is so mired in red tape and meeting that no work on the managerial level ever gets done. 

Their “culture” has morphed into one of “accountability” aka finger pointing, and our “leadership” is so scared for their jobs not a single one of them could make a decision to save their soul despite there being roughly 4-5 levels of middle management at one plant.

Main stress at this job was the site I worked on the management changed and I got railroaded out of a job

As a company it managed very well

12 hours a day and the work is not terrible very safety oriented culture

Very little compassion from management. Some individuals in management are very closed minded and 2 faced. Only interested in themselves and the almighty dollar. They are not open to suggestion outside "they way we have always did it" However. The operations work group and support staff were wonderful to work with and there was a great sense of TEAM. This could be quickly diminished by a couple individuals in management which made the job undesirable.

Keyera is easily the best oil and gas company I have worked for. This company cares about its employees and treats them like family. The owner of the company actually takes the time to visit the employees frequently which to me meant a lot. there is always new technology and with this company there is always someone willing to take the time to help you learn bout it. This company has outstanding benefits and is more than willing to reward their employees for their hard work.
