I really liked discovering that this is society that works hard for the betterment, support and autonomy of the Aboriginal Population in Ki-Low-Na, Okanagan and surrounding areas.

I was impressed by how they maintain an open door policy for any and all who need their services and support regardless of the who  or why they may be in need.

They also welcome many others who are deemed as being vulnerable individuals regardless if they are Aboriginal or not.

Felt great to serve the people and build relationships within the community and other service providers. Favouritism from the executive director, let family members/favourites get away with things which non-family members couldn’t. Severe lateral violence and outreach team lead who wasn’t qualified nor was a good leader, made every day way more stressful then it ever needed to be.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The management, isnt fare and theres no proper training. Management fired me for no reason. Management has no Empathy for others and is back stabber.

Work environment is busy, also clicky.

Computer work and busy helping Elders.

Dealing with spiritually connected people.

Not having clear cut systems of operation

I don't work for them anymore, but would in a heartbeat if I had the opportunity. They are a great organization and treat all employees fair. I have no complaints and have the utmost respect for my manager and the team that worked there.

They are flexible and they support & appreciate their employees. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Work away from my peers during the day, as the site is a stand alone building.

The Ki-Low-Na Friendship is a great place to work as management is supportive, flexible and allows staff to use their education, experience and creativity to do their best work.  KFS strives to support work/life balance supporting the cultural values for their staff and clients.

A fun atmosphere where I get to work with kids who have disabilities or developmental delays, and help them become the best person they can be. Teaching life skills, social cues,helping with homework and reading skills.

As is the case for many front line serving non-profits, there is high turn over, severe lateral violence, and very little interest or capacity to cultivate from within.
