Extremely unprofessional supervisors, unable to have adult conversations about issues. Supervisors scream at people in front of other employees

Supervisors will not explain instructions clearly and then scream at you for asking for clarification or if you attempt to do what they explained poorly

There is no standard practices between supervisors, some will yell at you for doing something that someone else would yell at you for not doing. You have to adapt very quickly or you are either kicked to another site or fired.

Even the most competent and experienced operators are not safe from being screamed at by supervisors.

Employees are generally pretty nice to work with but a lot smoke weed and drink on the job, in one case someone was caught drinking on our shift and was only warned, not fired even with proof.

Pay is decent, hours are too long. Mandatory saturdays, expect to also work 1-2 sundays a month.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Was a driver for 2 years at Kidco, Lots of hours in busy season, pay checks were always on point, decent benifits, great crews to work with, be prepared to basically always be on call though, hard to plan for anything even on the rainy or cold winter days, as long as your good with that your good to go and can make decent $$$ and work with good people doing it, was a good gig, i would go back if it was afternoon shift, early mornings were a killer on a night owl !

Great repore between the crews for the most part was my experience

Long and occationally adventurous / challenging depending on the project

I have worked both for earthworks div,and basements div.Earthworks is where the best money is at,but be ready to work some long hours,which is what i like…started on the ring road project in 2020,and when layoffs came in dec,i was offered a job in the basements Div.
Pay was significantly less,but a few raises since then has brought me back up to a decent wage,still not what i think im worth but pretty decent for what i do…..
Basements can have a nice work/Life ballance if you want it too,but if you want extra hours,you can usually get them no problem.
The people are great to work with,equipment services by the mechanic shop can be tough sometimes to get,but overall a greeat place to work.
Biggest cons——— nobody ever has smokes,so hide your smokes,hah.

Have worked for Kidco on and off since 2010 and Kidco is one of the worst employers out there. Kidco is an employer that really cares less about you or your family, protects foreman that treat people like animals and if you have a heart beat and want to work and have no life your hired. Your promoted based on favoritism or which group you belong too. I find Kidco safety lacking compared to other companies, and is one of the worst out there, not sure how they even get any work with what goes on and that's all I gotta say there. A couple positives is the people that work here (not the foreman), Kidco does have a lot of work, it is in town and although they work you like a dog, you are home every night and pay is ok and pay checks don't bounce, which does bring you back despite the disrespectful management and supervisors. 

Lots of hours and lots of OT.
Pay is okay.
Equipment is old and not maintained well, they only fix things when they no longer function at all or you push for something to be done, squeaky wheel gets the grease, if you're lucky...
They want you to keep things clean but no access to a means to do it, often taking garbage home and bringing own cleaning supplies.
Workers and foremen are good people.
No work life balance at all.  Mandatory 6 days a week unless weather shuts you down. Even though we are supposed to get long weekends off they'll tell you to work 7 days the week prior to 'earn' it.  You don't actually get a choice.
If you don't want to work a day you get told you are letting them down.
However, I've had no problems coming late or leaving early for health appointments etc.


Horrible cheap company.  GF’s all have anger management issues, can’t give proper instructions expecting operators to know the plan and where to be. No safety culture, trucks tip over due to poor awkward places they are forced into, Hoe operators are rough and hit the truck box often especially when they are in a bad mood. Express concerns, offer suggestions and you’re laughed at - wages reflect how cheap the company is.  Look elsewhere, save the frustration & disappointment. Find a place where you are appreciated and valued.  Remember staff is a reflection of management and how they are treated. Unfortunately this company doesn’t understand that.  

The worst company I’ve ever worked for. The VP makes the company so toxic they constantly have something to complain about. Management is a joke my foreman is a picker truck operator with no mechanic experience. That should say enough… stay far away from this company. High employee turnover because of management don’t expect to have a job for long. Field mechanics are not ticketed journeyman or apprentices they are “backyard” mechanics. No guidance no clarification no communication. I ignored the reviews when I started here thinking not everyone has a bad experience. Listen to the reviews!

What is the best part of working at the company?
I love how quickly I was put into a machine and trained. Also the female presence there is wonderful. As a woman I am impressed with how they treat everyone the same And the opportunities are equal to all races and gender

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Never knowing about weather and missing days because of snow or rain.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Excellent. One of the best spots I've worked at

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Go work go home. 6 days a week. Like clock work. The day flys by when you're having fun.

Some good people work here but it's a complete mess, equipment is usually broken and doesn't get fixed, got workers who do nothing but  laze around most of the day and the company doesn't care (if anything they promote lazing around wasting time), they will not support you at all, they will treat you like a child even if you are doing well and picking it up quickly.

If you have experience it may be a decent experience but even then I would look elsewhere, if you have no experience don't go anywhere near kidco.

Really not sure where the positive reviews come from or where they have worked but Kidco has to be one of the worst employers I have ever encountered. Foreman are disrespectful to a point where its just disgusting to witness at times and your left to pick up the pieces of broken people. Safety is really done cause they have too and safety culture is the worst I have ever seen. The company just seems to be getting worse, but like everyone else, we are stuck in a "rut" and the owners and management could careless. Kidco needs a reset through and through.
