I could go on and on about how welcoming  this company is right from the get go. To keep this a bit short I'll summarize on what I found will keep me with Kingfisher for the long haul. 
- incredible management  ( follow their directions and work hard. They will definitely make you feel appreciated and help you move up quickly)
- very fast-paced but the work load is manageable if you're a hard worker and willing to learn on the go
- very welcoming from the moment you walk through their doors. By far the best work environment I've  been introduced to after years in the automotive industry. 
- everyone I've met so far is very friendly 
- good benefits 
- I was on my probationary period when Christmas came around and they still got my daughters some presents. Never seen a company do that for someone this new to the team. 
- profit share! Goes without saying how helpful this can be. Especially during these times. 
 
Overall I'd highly recommend Kingfisher to any friend that needs a job that isn't already  comfortable where they are.  Looking forward to my future with them. 


Wouldn’t recommend anyone working here unless you like favouritism and kissing up to people. Most of management is decent, except good luck finding the HR manager...she rarely shows up to work and when she does she makes herself very unavailable. They laid off a bunch of people in a time of hardship and when people are dealing with enough stresses both financially and mentally instead of taking the financial help the government was offering and they did so in a manner that made those people feel like they weren’t cared about. Pay is garbage, good luck surviving on it in the Okanagan. They’ve made a bad name for themselves during this crisis, good luck rebuilding it in this town... word has already spread how they treated people during all this!

Absolutely terrible company to work for, most of the employees are great but management is unorganized and just downright lazy. They make it seem like such a great place to work but you will quickly find out that they are not interested in giving out raises and will continuously pile more and more work on you with no compensation. Not one of the managers / supervisors should be in the position they are and they know it. Their form of job security is attempting to make everyone else look bad, if they spent as much energy trying to improve themselves and their team as they do on making everyone look bad they would be great leaders.

Standardized procedures were just starting to roll out when I worked there pre-pandemic, and the change was messy. At the time, the floor staff and management seemed pretty at odds with each other. Management talks great safety culture but it doesn't always make it to the shop. Don't expect job security, but the pay is decent and the health benefits are solid so I'd say it's worth it to work until they boot you. Also management will make you sit around for hours during blackouts in the hope the power will come back on.

I went from a weld shop assistant to learning how to build sub components all the way up to building hulls from the ground up. Lots of room for advancement and job security if your willing to work hard and show up everyday with a positive attitude. Management is approachable and willing to work with you to solve problems. Would recommend to anyone interested in tig and mig aluminum welding.

KingFisher Boats has allowed me to start a career in the Okanagan, which can be tough for some to do. The company has a family-like environment and it shows as the CEO, Byron, takes the time to meet everyone and make them feel welcomes from day one.

Wages are on par with the Okanagan and the benefits package was just changed with additional benefits added.

There have been opportunities to advance in my position during my time with the company and I have seen others move to different departments and some have moved up from the production line to office/management positions.

The owner is probably the nicest man I have ever met, really takes time to talk to the employees.

Been there almost 10 years, started with ZERO experience and kept me engaged and interested everyday! Absolutely love the people I work with, most of us are hard working, dependable, decent employees! No fear in letting some experience new positions, and cut back if it’s not what was expected! They will always try to keep good people, and recognize a job well done. It’s the okanagan  people, not high wages but good steady work. Those who complain, are lazy and need to get a life!

If you enjoy...
 having a great night/day at work to only be ripped apart the next day, cut down at every turn, and never told you've done anything right because nothing you do will, ever, be good enough even if it's perfect.. because they have ZERO blue prints on the shop floor. You learn by watching a person for a few days.. who learned by watching a person for a few days... and then your left to your own devices..

This is the place for you.

I can guarantee I would have had a much different experience if I didn't have the boss I had. He was super sexist and was mad that I wouldn't go to bed with him. Luckily for everyone still there he is no longer there. Other then him the people and place were great. I was set up to do a welding apprenticeship and it would have been awesome! There are some sweet perks, some really great people and I loved working on Swan lake!
