A typical day begins at 7:30 and ends at 5. I manage the front end office and switchboard, as well as all responsibilities in book keeping, order entry and administering credits. I have taken on responsibilities in Accounts receivable, helping with monthly cheque collection and input, contacting customers for payments as well as purchase order approval on specific accounts. 

Working at Kingsdown I've learned to work with all types of personalities. I've learned how to effectively work in a constant high pace environment, gained impeccable multi-tasking skills, and have become comfortable speaking with many people and personalities.

I've also learned how to work under micro-management and macromanagment, which has ultimately allowed me to perfect my decision making and initiative skills.

People who find themselves working at kingsdown tend to regret their choice. During the summer the factory is blazing hot. no AC. They trick their workers all the time to make them think they are getting substantial raises. before the global minimum wage raises, new workers would get $1.50 above minim wage. now that minimum is raised to $14, they raised peoples wage to it and not with an extra $1.50. imagine working in a hot, backbreaking factory for minimum wage. Should be illegal.

Small salary and hard work, sometimes not full time work

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not the best, but can be ok for someone 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Nothing interesting, just work, sometimes stress

I would love working as a shipper I had my independence and i learned the difference between allot of different mattresses that struck me as the same. The help of my co-workers were always there. The best part about working there was the hours. The hardest part is that it is alot of hard work moving mattresses back and forth.

The company runs you like a slave. They generally don't care about your safety and well being. The pay is terrible and management expects you to work even though you're injured. Awful work environment, you could feel the depression and stress through the dust particles in the air.

Working at the factory I would help carry mattresses onto tables to be sewn up and send them off to be shipped out of the factory. I would also help maintain mine and my coworkers work space cleanliness. The atmosphere on the job was good, my coworkers were friendly and easy to communicate with.

I go to work not caring about the product being done well because we don’t have the right people running it. They treat us terribly 
and expect high results. Not a good place for people who want to progress 

Management is friendly and understanding and employees are helpful. If you need help there is always someone with experience to give you a hand. Very safe work environment with regular safety meetings, and room to grow within the company. Would recommend. 

The back office staff is terrible. Everyone involved in Inventory or Finance department are slimy. Training is also really poor here. I highly recommend to NOT apply to work here. The communication in the office is non existent. No one is friendly.

It's a good place with a good work atmosphere but there is just not enough demand right now for the product. so they can not afford to give enough hours for someone to support a family.
