Kitchen Craft

You start out your day with a bunch of physical exercises that you are forced to do, otherwise the management takes notice and gives you cute little talks about how you can injure yourself if you do not do the exercises designed for 250 pound 55 year old women.  

You are treated like you belong to the company, as if you are not a human being but a cog they bought and put into huge clock work. When you just arrive in the plant you go through 2 days of absolutely meaningless orientation, where you are being taught about how great Kitchen Craft is and basic safety. 

Then on 3rd day you are being "trained" on a work station, the training consists of watching a guy on a conveyor run around picking up doors and then using his hands to hit the hinges into hinge plates which is very very repetitive job, that is dangerous at same time as Vasculitis and osteoarthritis are very common for people working on this job for more then 8 months. 

People are not treated fairly in this plant, I saw a guy who worked in shipping for 7 months be layed off due to "smelling bad", well of course he will smell bad if he is lifting and stocking 20-50 pounds cabinets all day long. Asking for time off is like asking for a personal loan with 0% interest, they give it to you sure, but it is viewed as huge personal favor and god forbid you ask for more time off that month. I personally was not accredited around 11 hours of vacation time, even though I was on time and at work 98% of the time with common overtimes.  The atmosphere is as they tell you "fast paced" but reality its not fast paced its rushed, you work your back off for the company 8 hours a day if you are on a conveyor and very rarely hear any praise from the management.

Advancement is something that is best not mentioned, some people there been working for 5-7 years before acquiring level 3, level 2 is hard to get as well, you have to be able to perform across 5 different work stations. Problem is they don't want to move you around so you never really have a chance to do that. Hardwork and dedication means very little in this company, manager will almost always pick friends over hard-working employees. 

Raises are abysmal and are yearly instead of every 6 months, only thing that was good was dental/eye insurance.  Overall a bad plays to work in, 3-6 months job at most if you are looking to get somewhere at life, otherwise you will be ruled around by incompetent managers who got into those positions through their contacts and not by merit.

Worked there for a year and a half on a assembly line. It all depends on what part of the factory you work in. Unfortunately for me, management was very poor where I worked at. The "lead hand" took walks around areas without helping a bit, just criticizing everyone he wasn't "buddy" with. The lines are terribly disorganized as product is built with no system in place  to check if all parts are there so a guy beside me had to haul all the cabinets to the floor which was painful to watch.

If you are a new employee, you will be given 1-2 months immunity, after that they will come down on you hard unless in that time you become "buddies" with a "lead hand". If you are just starting out be prepared to become a scape goat for the "team" no matter if you are actually the one causing delays and issues. You will be blamed for parts missing, an old lady who is behind because she can barely lift 10 pounds or anything other they can pin down on you. The management is very poor.

The team and people I worked with definitely made things easier as they where helpful and very friendly. So no issues there. 

Wages where awful, I started at $13.25 and only got $0.30 raise after a year which was considered good compared to my fellow employees who got $0.15. My last 2 months where very painful experience, fortunately I had another job lined up so i got out just in time. 

So in conclusion it all depends on individual experience and where you will end up. If you dont want to do repetitive work all day, be blamed by the poor management don't apply for Assembly.

As a Medical sales Representative everyday visit to Doctors, pharmacist, key opinion leaders are my typical day at work.Highlighting the advantage of my products over competitors, planning activities that can be helpful building personal relationship with the client is my main task.  I enjoy my job on sales because dealing with different kind of people is a fun job.I learned to build a good customer service to my client providing quality service and answering their queries. The management help us providing tools and equipped us with knowledge for better opportunities. I also adapt being a positive team player my co workers help me to become a better me changing ideas and respecting other opinions lead us to have a harmonious relationship and work as a team. The hardest part of a job is to be able to attained your monthly target but planning and motivation help me to achieved my goals and exceed to management expectation. It is important to love your work first because success will also follows. Secondly you have to live within your means and learn to manage your resources. The most enjoyable part of my job is my company is generous, company benefits and incentives are provided.

The opportunity to work for a large company was interesting. HR and finance run the company. Local management is only a figurehead. The people locally are nice and can be very helpful, but nobody is able to get anything done in a reasonable time and no matter how much you try, you and your customers are hand cuffed by the system.  A typical day at work involves sitting in front of the computer and through meetings trying to help the company improve its systems. This is ongoing and gets nowhere. The hardest part of the job is getting up and going to work. The most enjoyable part of the job is creating beautiful kitchens and working with friends. As a Canadian company owned by an American Company, it's corporate culture does not fit the Canadian personality and for newbies it will be very difficult to handle.  "Buyer beware"

I work at the shipping department. Since the day I started working in this company I immediately felt at home and a peace of mind. This company changed my whole life and that of my family. The manager, supervisor, lead hand and other associates are all helpful and always ready to support and guide me. There is always a room to grow in the company especially if you are hard working. 
I remember when even my country has an epidemic, almost everyone was concerned and supportive. I remembered my Manager always tells me he always think of me when a news comes up about the epidemic in my country. That has been a great therapy for me. I really feel blessed to work in this company and above all for meeting such a wonderful team. I will always remain to be grateful for such an opportunity.

The job itself is awesome, i would work there again if given the opportunity. i disliked how management wanted to increase the number of cabinets going down the line, even if it meant not completing started orders. there were random cabinets always coming down the line which made the environment stressful for those who couldn't adjust to it because the company took floor storage space away with no plans on building room for the kitchens waiting for the rest of their order in order to be shipped. cabinets would sit and wait for weeks or months at a time before completion.
personally i would have no problem with productions numbers skyrocketing as long as the appropriate space was given.

The nature of work and jobs are familiar according to my past experiences. My adaptability towards to my jobs are ease, the management gives opportunity to new comer to explore, share the knowledge for each individual. Although its a multi-cultural environment, its well treats fare without bias or racism. Lifting different sizes of wood panels contributes to my physical capabilities but eventually I made adjustments to cope it. Operating and handling production machinery gives me wonderful advantages so I don't find difficulties at first.

At my latest position I would start my day at 6:30am and leave no earlier that 5:00pm or until the daily tasks were completed. I had crew of 5-6 people that were made up of temporary and permanent workers. The job required training and daily assignment of staff to tasks. the most frustrating part of the job was finding work for the employees when we were slow & the most rewarding part was going home feeling that we had a good solid day!

The job has awesome opportunities for overtime, you can make a lot of money here. i loved the job for the money and security. helped me provide for my family while living comfortably. the only issue is the location since the closest bus route is a 30 minute walk from the location. Management only cares about number of cabinets made, they upped daily cabinet quota without upgrading the shipping departments space so it was extremely dangerous and stressful. overall it was a good job.

everyday is different, i,learned how to operate different kind of machines,and how to communicate with other people.To the management it's okay i,never had a problem with them as long as i'm doing my job they wont bother me.I, also like working with my co-workers its fun,we always working as a team.There is no such thing a hard job as long as you know what your doing everything is very easy to do.The best part of my job is when you make production at he end of the day that's makes me feel better.
