Knight Plumbing and Heating

Knight plumbing is now owned by RIGHT TIME GROUP OF COMPANIES which is a high pressure company with over inflated prices that scams people into making impulse purchases because they offer next day installations for their own convenience so people don’t cancel once they find out that they have been duped into a misleading sale. The company makes their sales team sit around seven days a week and wait for a call to go out and make a sale. There is no daily schedule and if you plan to do a personal appointment then they will take away any sales leads that you may get. The sales manager play’s favourite to his friend that was hired last and gives him  all the leads first. The company does not care about their employees and many of their long term employees have quit or are looking for a new job or they have been fired for making too much money or knowing too much. They have made so many changes that don’t make sense but they think that they do. They have taken simple procedures and made them harder than they need to be. Everyone that is in the HVAC industry in Calgary looks down upon these types of companies and Knight plumbing is now one of them. This company is highly unorganized, management is a complete disaster and company moral is at an all time low after being in business for over 50 years. 

What a shame ! 

I spent the most important years of my apprenticeship with Knight Plumbing and Heating, and I am glad I did. I learned so many new skills as a result of working here. I grew to be confident in my abilities because I was surrounded by positive colleagues and supportive management staff. I wouldn't be the Tradesman I am today if it was not for Knight Plumbing. I can honestly say that I never had one serious issue while I was an employee here (18+ months). Everybody works together and helps each other out. I loved it here because management and the office staff are a pleasure to work with, and the service work was new and challenging. This is one of Calgarys best employers, no doubt about it. 10/10

This company was bought by a Right Time Group of Companies, I hear that before they were bought out it was a very well run company, but now all the focus is on hacking the work in as fast as possible with no/little regard for quality of install.

They also pay their workers piecework instead of hourly rates, so the "helper" makes the same rate regardless of whether they are 1st year, 2nd year, or 3rd year. 

They pressure you to become a lead installer before you are a Journeyperson so you can make the "Lead" rate. Then they pressure you to install 2 furnaces or 2 ACs or (1 furnaces+1AC) in one day, causing people to rush and make mistakes. 

They charge top dollar for their work but do not pay their workers accordingly.

The people who work here are great! As a family owned and operated company, the culture is very family oriented. Almost everyone gets along well and tries to help each other out.

Executive & Management care about the employees and we're always very reasonable and great for accommodating time off (within reason) for personal needs. Their door were always open if you needed something or just to chat! 

I sincerely enjoyed coming to work everyday during my time here! 

Im not sure about the technicians (plumbers and and heating techs) or management , but my only complaint was that the hourly wages were really low for the office staff.

My typical day started at 7:30am and ended at 4:00pm
I was a dispatcher for this company and enjoyed doing so, I gained great knowledge of the city and learned to work with the technicians in order in ensure they were being sent to a job that they were qualified to do. 
The management was family owned and operated, most of my co-workers were nearing retirement and very welcoming. 
The hardest part of the job was learning their computer software system. It took some getting used to. I enjoyed my co-workers presence and the over all attitude of the office.

Stay away!  Management is horrendous, and they scrape the bottom of the barrel for workers as anyone with a sense of decency leaves. It’s a revolving door for new employees. Tons of gossip and just an overall feeling of uneasiness when at the shop. Couple good guys but most are hacks or just outright rude to anyone and everyone. 

technicians and dispatch staff were great. 

Management is dishonest with compensation and expects technicians to work for free. 

I wouldn’t recommend people work there. 

Huge turn over rate because technicians get treated poorly. 

40 years in business and only 2 reviews on indeed.  Makes sense.

Investor group owned with the only focus being profit at any cost. Poor leadership from management, to many managers not doing their job and willplace blame on others to avoid accountability. 

It was a great and fun place to work. The workers would teach you on what you need to do in the field instead of  guessing what to do for this client.

Job was alright. Management sucked. The materials where never right for the job at hand. When brought up to them multiple times the problem was never addressed.
