I've worked with the organization for three years at this point. I've had a few different roles within the organization, I've had experience working with new staff, longer term staff and senior management. I work with a wide variety of clients and feel like I make a genuine, positive impact in peoples lives and on my community.  I feel there is a decent balance between personal autonomy at work and structured policy and procedure. I have seen the company during times of success and celebration and during very hard transitional times (as is the nature of contract non-profit work). 

I appreciate coming in to work every day because of the service we provide and the team that I am fortunate to work with. The journey of supporting others to gain sustainable employment is extremely rewarding. Working with a collaborative team to support each client is contributes to our client's experiences and successes. As a team, we are supportive to one another through these successes as well as the challenges that may be faced. This organization is always working towards becoming better so we can better serve our community.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The support of the whole team is unparalleled.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The learning curve is steep but one is supported throughout the entire process. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The definition of teamwork and work life balance is exemplary.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Chats, greetings, coffee, helping people in a difficult time, lunch, more chatting, tea, more helping, lock your and go home precisely when you are done.

Working at KES is rewarding and meaningful.  Being part of an organization that strives to make a difference in the lives of individuals and in our community is fulfilling.  Management provides many opportunities to grow and offers the necessary supports to do so.  As well, management understands the need for a good life/work balance.   My coworkers are always encouraging and we work together as a team to assist our clients.  Overall, KES is an amazing place to work!

The dedicated staff who work really hard.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of appreciation and the level of perfection expected.

It is really awful due to poor management 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Working non stop and never-ending amount of work and a lot of pressure to do more than is possible

Kootenay employment services is by far one of my favorite places of employment!! The work culture and values are perfect!! You are always encourged and supported to win and grow!!! Great team that focuses on utilizing a collaborative approach to allow all employees to shine their unique skills. 

KES is an exceptional employer.  They really support growth in their staff and have a policy of promoting within.  The job is difficult and management is aware of this, and have a strong culture of support and self-care in place to ensure that staff feel safe to take a day when they need one. 

Probably the most collaborative and one of the more fun places to work in the Kootenays. Working in any public service role can have difficult aspects to it but KES really tries hard to provide our clients with a high level of support. This makes the work uplifting.

The management team puts a lot of time into their staff, our wellness, mental health and fun activities. My manager always has time for me and there are always lots of opportunities to advance. Love working here!

I'm learning a lot working at Kootenay Employment Services and feel supported to continually move forward by management. I never thought office life would be for me but it has been a smooth transition getting into the workflow.
