Don't even bother.. Wage is horrible, 0 Planning. Expected to roll with the punches. Lead hand doesnt want to do his job. Clique work place keep your head down if you want to keep the job. Cant ask any question lead hand gets confrontational. Any slight disagreement about anything your jobs going to be dangled above you. Turn around rate at this place is brutal.

Kootenay industries is the perfect environment for new apprentices like myself. A typical day for an apprentice welder consists of building parts and welding them on skids. It's a challenging job but I love a challenge and it keeps things interesting and is very enjoyable. Excellent hours as well. Perfect place to learn.

New shop, old equipment.

An always on overtime type of place, and OT wages are based only on an accrual of 44 hours, instead of the basic Alberta rule.

Varied responsibilities as a welder, since there are vessels, spooling, and some structural.

This shop was very poorly run. No planning and no support. This company thrives on the culture of mass hire,mass layoff , don't expect to be treated well,don't expect to be listened to or have any of your needs addressed. Chances are highly likely you'll get chased after 2 or 3 weeks no matter what.

Management was amazing and the co workers were so welcoming and friendly. the only thing bad is it is a fast paced environment, not a good environment for a first year to second year apprentice.  overall really amazing company.

Dont talk to anyone and keep to your self to stay employed. The people are great to get along with but they will stab you in the back any chance they get to stop you from advancing beyond them.

You learn a lot working inside the shop, especially as an apprentice. All the Journeymen are very helpful. They make you feel comfortable. It's a great working environment!

If you didn't fit in or work every Saturday of overtime they treated you less nicely, talked about people behind their back and looked down upon others instead of helping and teaching.

Nice shop. new, and bright.
Owner is difficult to work with. an esteem crushing experience. I stayed longer than desirable, because times are difficult for welders.
