The workplace culture is positive and collaborative, and my colleagues are some of the brightest and most talented people I've had the pleasure of working with. Since starting here, I am pleased to see the improvements to the benefits and pension plans to become more competitive with the industry standard.

I enjoy the work-life balance, and there are ample opportunities for growth and development, both as an individual and as a company. I feel valued and respected as an employee, and the management is transparent, understanding, and approachable.

As an engineer in the consulting field, working here allows me to actually be able to apply engineering design work that was taught during my post-secondary education. However, I learned that the hardest part of the job is the technical skills and expertise required. While there are many training opportunities to improve, this field might not be for you if you are not interested in providing technical recommendations and detailed design services as part of your typical daily work tasks.

My time with the company was meh, learned about inspecting and the industry. Coworkers were good, management was ok mostly. Starting salary is low, if you have little to no experience, and getting your NDT tickets will take a while. Benefits were/are horrible compared to other companies, and this was after they changed them. They didn't even have an RRSP matching plan when I started. Overtime was mostly going to the 2 most senior employees, much of my training was with the 2 least senior employees who would sometimes ask ME questions. 

The work itself isn't bad, you go to client work sites and inspect equipment. Can get dirty, not extremely labour intensive, some climbing, working at heights.. they do get you your safety tickets like H2S, AWP, Confined space, first aid etc.

The only other perk I could think of was having the work truck.

I have been working with Kova for almost 2 years and I find that everyone is easy to get along with and are always willing to help in whatever way they can. I feel happy coming to work each day and Management never hesitates to show appreciation for a job well done and provides support where and when needed. I am able to have a great work/life balance due to how understanding they are. In my position I feel fulfilled as I am continually learning and there is never a dull moment at work. The salary is also very competitive.

Hands down the worst employer I've ever had to deal with in my 15+ years working.  Extremely poor Pay according to industry standards. Wage reviews and bonuses are promised but not delivered. Beware if you get hurt at work they will force you to take leave and fight your documented injury till the bitter end. If this isn't enough to scare you away I don't know what is. I'd avoid this place and work anywhere else in the industry.

management does not seem to know what they are doing, worst people to deal with, and very disrespectful. they do not meet deadlines. there is a reason why this company always gets bad reviews. 
avoid as much as you can.

Good news if you’re an engineer: you’re automatically made one of many managers of all the designers. Which means, if you’re a designer/technologist, there is no career advancement whatsoever for you. The only good thing about having 4 managers is if you want a day off and the first manager you ask says no, you simply go to one of the others until one says yes.

Promises of alot of trianing and advancement was told to me in the interview but later on took well over 8 months to get my first raise. The management would pick apart your work right before review time. I had the opinion that this would be a long term position but it didn't turn out like that. I only lasted 2 years.

Workload which is continually changing.  Always new things to learn and challenges to face.  The opportunity to correct mistakes in a nurturing environment.  Outcomes are clearly identified.  Flexible life/work balance.  Terrific co workers.

The day you make business or work for Kova you will regret it. The most unprofessional place I have dealt with, avoid. You will find better companies with better prices all over Saskatoon. 
Ask yourself why everyone is complaining about this branch?

Lots of work variety. Flexibility to balance work, life and family. Fantastic workplace culture. A great place to grow your technical ability and be involved with a lot of the local construction in Saskatoon and the province!
