I currently work for the company as a Picker and loading trucks , I love my hours which is 10pm to 6am Sunday to Friday Mornings, I like the fact so far they do not have a culture of Pushing there Pickers or loaders which is a Positive thing, this is the reason why I'm still there and a lot of other fulltime and agency workers are. the Negative is they in Nov 2018 actually took away $1.50 per/hour from fulltime loaders & Pickers all MHE operators and agency workers, as well as only paying any General labourer who come on site minimum wage $14 if the GL's all received $16 per/hour they would actually stay long term as well K & N would attract quality good discipline dedicated workers to do that Particular job. the base pay there is, day shift $17.50 for all MHE fulltime and agency MHE loaders/Pickers. Absolutely NO! MHE loader and Pickers Receive the FAIR WAGE of $21 per/hour which is based on the nature of the job is a FAIR wage, but the Powers at K&N which have the Power to give us the Fair Wage, they feel that what all the MHE drivers currently receive all under $19 per/hour is fair enough for us and in line with the industry, but based on the Nature of the work which is a mixture of MHE and physical labor when Picking & Loading after speaking with full time workers and agency workers its for the job that we all do is slave wages based on the nature of the work along with the size and $$$$revenue of the company. K & N also do not give at yearly $$raises to its GL's or MHE operators Loaders and Pickers which other company in this industry which are smaller regularly does. workers I spoke with on all shifts including agency feel for K & N the Gravy train has to end! by us actual signing UNION CARDS so we can get CERTIFIED as a union so we can start negotiating for the things in which i mention. so I'm currently talking to various UNION offices about our collective complaint and problems with K &N as well as if with all the agency workers if we still can get unionized, agency workers currently outnumber the full-timers on all shifts.do to the fact K & N do not want to hire they just want the cheap agency Labour they want to avoid pay Medical, dental etc. etc. etc. just like all companies who have lots of agency workers for long term with out hiring them and activating benefits.

I'm writing this 3 years after I left so its probably a very different review than if I had left one immediately afterwards.
 I really enjoyed my time there except for my last 4-6 months before I quit. Reflecting back I think it was a place that I could have grown with the company and retired in X numbers of years if I had remained. Training is excellent and lots of different things to learn; where hard work is rewarded and recognized. Starting wage was good when I started there in 2017 and the benefit package was the best I ever had. My favorite thing was how quickly and structured issues were dealt with. Computer issues? IT was there remotely within the hour
 Unfortunately the place can be a negative workplace with the deadlines and stress that comes with certain positions. My last 6 months there were very tough on me. Had just returned from medical leave and Covid was in full swing, so stress was everywhere and impossible to avoid.
 I felt targeted by my peers and mistrust was rampant. My medical leave was constantly thrown in my face either directly or indirectly and my question on stepping down to deal with my health was met with " you probably wont have a job then at all". Coworkers would say one thing to me and then deny they ever said that during emails or meetings out of fear I guess.
 One of my trusted coworkers decided to constantly throw me under the bus to gain favor with the manager and that was a hard betrayal to swallow even now. Small issues became blown so much out of proportion that it was almost comical and then an employee was placed in my department who reported everything to our manager and they questioned or tore all of our improvements apart.

Probably the hardest decision I made was to quit, but it was difficult to do my job and balance the constant attacks and drama. Side note; I was given the silent treatment for my last 2 weeks and that was interesting to see after 3 years of working with these people.

In conclusion; I'm proud of the improvements we made for the difficult customer and was proud ( most days) of how well my team worked together even with so many different personalities and ideas. Also grateful for what I learned from my manager and fellow supervisors.
 So go work there, but be wary I guess lol

I was in packaging, with minimal experience, but had a powerful work ethic. Some older women co-workers, and many that were young adults like me made up the 3 line teams. Only about 3 men present, and we were put to the most strenuous work on packaging lines of Bell products, and one thicker and hard working woman. I worked fast and hard, b/c I'm professional, but when exhausted by 1/2 day, they expected me to continue like a robot. After several days, no one switched, so I jumped onto lighter work and stayed there. No one gave me a reason to go back besides my gender. I was never a massive, strong man. Just slim, but able bodied enough like the rest; the rest were just selfish and avoided any tough work in their lives. After weeks, the dept lead conducted a meeting saying no ONE person is to have all that work funnel to them (me, since all the other men quit or changed depts). But the next day, it was back to the same things and she claimed I had to do the hardest work, rather than split it. I got occasional work in a different dept, but would be back in packaging. After a few months, I was let go after a shift and they bad mouthed me to the agency, rather than talking to me at all.

And that Lead made a sexist, classist snide comment about some ready made food I was eating at lunch, and that I must SO be single.

No chance for training and advancement if you show interest. Some leads goof off behind the computers, or make errors in our chosen product duties, forcing us to undo everything we did and re-doing it.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Honestly I can't think of a best part, there isn't anything that particularly stands out

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The management and lack of coordination with on the floor team members. More often than not the management team doesn't really know what's going on or how to do anything for that matter while those on the floor are the ones actually getting things done.

The lack of raises and overtime is also extremely stressful especially when they consistently promise you it then cancel it shortly after.

If they say something will be happening soon such as longer shifts or a night crew don't expect it to be anytime soon if at all. 

Constantly preach about an open door policy but it's entirely the opposite.


Lowest paid workers on site yet we're critical to function of the plant.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's alright. The culture is hard to get a fix on. They try to promote the idea of the employee first but that idea falls extremely short.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Clock in, perform basic warehouse duties and carry out operations of equipment and assembling and delivering work orders

I had several frustrating experiences here that caused me to take another job when an offer finally presented itself.

The tools we were given for quoting our customers (KN Freightnet) in Inside Sales often failed. When I inquired into why there wasn't a solution for this it didn't matter how far up the chain of command I went I couldn't get a straight answer..

I had several problems with the pricing team in Montreal which created a ton of conflict between myself and customers. Often it would take days (sometimes weeks) to get a simple quote back from our pricing staff in Montreal which would lead to very angry clients. Often after getting the quotes back they would not even be legible (often completed in French instead of English) and not broken out in a way the client could ever understand. This lead to a ton of back and forth between myself and pricing then myself and client..

I could go on and on with other scenarios but I will save myself the time and effort. I could have probably stayed here forever and flew under the radar, but decided against it..

In the holiday season, you'll have so much OT and be utterly exhausted. When the holiday season's over, it'll be so slow you'll hate your time being there & be begging for work. The manager likes to manipulate you into being too uncomfortable to say no to what he says. During the busy season he will say "you can go home today if you want to" and everyone will be too scared to ask to go home anyways. 

The company culture is all about how they want this place to be the best place to work for, how they care about their employees and their mental health, yet there's 0 breaks even when there's tons of OT. They will never hire you on as an actual employee (they hire lots of temps) nor will they give you any benefits or vacation time (you have to wait 2 years minimum for paid vacation, if you're a temp it's probably 2.5 years). The manager overall lacks empathy, enjoys making fun of employees, doesn't really care about some of the core company beliefs (environmentalism) and just knows the right things to say as a boss.

Performed duties such as:

Order Picker & Packer/Lead Hand
•	Routinely used RF Scanner to scan items and quickly sorted products into correct orders
•	Picked, packaged and processed products for client orders
•	Performed quality checks for products to ensure up to standard for shipment and delivery
•	Received and sorted incoming parts and supplies and stored items in an orderly and accessible manner in a warehouse, tool room, supply room or other area
•	Maintained records of orders and the amount, kind and location of parts and supplies on hand using manual or computerized inventory system
•	Trained workers in job duties, safety procedures and company policies
•	Co-ordinated, assigned and reviewed the work of clerks engaged in the following duties: shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and maintaining inventories of materials, processing purchasing transactions; co-ordinating production work; scheduling transportation crews and routes
•	Inspected and verified incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods

A typical day would start completing tasks that others didn't finish the day before. Management is a joke, would be bothered about the way I stood, the food I'd eat for lunch, and my participation in company events. Management was more concerned with taping lines for tables, tape guns, and shrink wrap than actual meaningful work. Supervisor was non existent, provided no assistance to on floor staff, also would rely on us to make his decisions as he was indecisive. Supervisor would also rely on floor staff to not only complete their daily tasks, but train new people as well, which was near impossible. Culture was toxic, back talking, rumors, job sabotage, biased upper management allowing useless people to succeed when harder working staff with opinions on how to improve the company were punished. The most enjoyable part of working here was going home everyday. Too much stress for not enough reward.

A typical day at work as a supervisor started with managing the workload depending on headcount for that day. Entering payroll hours, production matrices and health and safety issues. Employee evaluations were assessed on ongoing basis as per performance output and attendance. Evaluations were given as a 6 month review and then annual review for a pay raise based on company performance overall. Forklift training was provided by supervisors as instructors in class room theory and practical. Ensured our work area and warehouse designated are was kept clean. Investigated and wrote up reports on any in house MME and personnel accidents. Covered for my manager in his absence.

What is the best part of working at the company?
you are given the opportunity to take the initiative, there are provision for continuous learning opportunities in many different departments. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
not sure, sometimes when there is downtime, waiting on the next project to begin, but this is at the customer level.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
people are quite friendly and helpful. There a some very knowledgeable people in the business, and they are always keen to help.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Some days can have many meetings about projects. Other days there can be many projects on the table at the same time and some days there are a few. So you can be quite busy and some days the opposite.
