I worked at L3Harris Wescam for a period of time, and unfortunately, my experience was heavily impacted by the company's toxic corporate culture. There seemed to be a prevailing attitude where many individuals prioritized self-preservation and career advancement at the expense of others. This led to a work environment where collaboration and trust were severely lacking.

In my time there, I observed a pattern of blame-shifting and colleagues undermining one another, which created a hostile and unproductive atmosphere. This focus on internal politics over teamwork not only affected morale but also hindered productivity, as employees were more concerned with protecting their own interests rather than working toward shared goals.

I do not believe this environment is conducive to personal or professional growth. For those considering a position here, I would advise caution, especially if you are looking for a supportive and collaborative workplace.

I got a job here after I felt burnt out from a much more challenging job. Signed up as a coating tech because my buddy said it's a very cushy job (×3 easier than being a fast food worker). You can pretty much coast after 2 years. Supervisors are very nice; I've never got yelled at or treated poorly for making mistakes. It's good for when you have issues outside of work that needs to be addressed. Although, not all types of technician roles are easy.

However, it's not a place you want to stay forever due to very limited career advancement, and compensation of newer workers doesn't match that of older ones (10-20 years ago) due to business restructuring. My suggestion would be to get a weekend shift position, and use the 4 days off per week to get more schooling or work on your side business.

Do not work here if you think you would feel guilty about working in the defense industry.

You can wear casual clothing and put on that thousand-yard stare if you're a technician, and no one will bother you.

My experiences at L3 Wescam were very good overall.  I had a very busy job and worked long hours to meet monthly deadlines.  The majority of my co-workers were awesome people.  However, one person was petty, jealous, and prevented me from gaining experience in certain aspects of my job. And made untrue allegations to Management about me.  Most of my Managers that I had were fair, approachable and honest.  As well as genuinely concerned with mentoring me and assisting me in acquiring new skills and giving me new opportunities.  However, one Manager was not interested in helping me pursue a different career path in any other department, and was influenced by misinformation given by one long term, dishonest employee.  I miss several of my co-workers, as I built close relationships with many of them throughout several departments in the company.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The support from local managers. They will go out of their way for you if you put effort into yourself and your performance.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Can’t think of any real stressors. It’s a pretty good company in actuality.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Mostly ex-military, we’ve all worked together for a lot of years all came from the same old school time frame. Do your work, shoot the breeze while you’re at it. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy, I am singular in my trade on my crew, busy.

I spent close to 3 years at Don Mills location. It is great place to work if you are satisfied with the initial compensation offer and do not need to move that up higher while you are there. The work was slow paced but there is always opportunity to learn and problems to work on. However, this does not guarantee that you will move up in the company. Only reason why I left the company was due to poor pay and lack of communication by management with regards to career growth within the company.

What is the best part of working at the company?
They have high quality standards,  are very organized and provide a great deal of training.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It was during COVID so not interacting in person was odd but that would be universal, not the fault of L3.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very friendly but professional.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I enjoyed the work, I felt part of the team and I knew what was expected of me.

The I/T environment and lack of I/T support at this company is so disfunctional it actually prevents you from being able to do your job on a daily basis.  From the point of view of software development tools, technology and processes, this company is stuck in the stone ages.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Pension and benefits are great and the people are nice.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The low salary makes it difficult to stay afloat.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I work remote  team meetings and other communications in my team is great.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
8 hr work day. Talk to and assist others not overly stressful position.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Benefits. Especially the 9/80 days. People are good. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There is always stress with every company. This place is no different. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good culture. Try to promote collaboration. Building is brand new and modern. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Same as everywhere else. Busy but manageable for the most part.

Work at L-3 MAS is interesting and very challenging, as it requires hard work and discipline to be successful at fulfilling your duties.

The work consists in supporting and sustaining the CF-18 fleet of the Canadian forces, which makes the work of every employee very important as it impacts the daily usage of the fleet.

The crew is relatively young and fun to work with.

The only downside of the company is the bad management, that need to restore the confidence of the employees in it.
