What is the best part of working at the company?
Free membership to workout. 
You’ll enjoy your experience if you are a Front Desk associate. Being a Sales advisor is the worst thing you could do.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
 If you are a sales advisor, The Managers will give you the least opportunities and expect you to always to get the most sales. They will threaten your job security when you have a few bad days even though you had great in multiple months. They will even have a Company wide email showcasing everyone’s ranking but is degrading for people that are in he bottom tier because they put the pressure into you by saying if you don’t get to a certain number by a certain day then you will get fired. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not a great culture because everyone only thinks about themselves. You could help them sell their client a membership but they won’t help you when your client comes in and then will be quick to go and get more clients that just walk in and avoid giving you a chance to sell. Managers love to trash talk their associates to and make them feel like soldiers and always command them to do something and never really treat them nicely. A lot of turn over because the environment doesn’t present itself like they care about you.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Selling memberships and making people feel welcomed and then some exercise in the end.

i worked here for a year and a half and was attempting to become OM (manager) but the way the company works is they beat their employees to death and either fire you or force you to quit, especially if you have ambitions to move up in the company. i definetly learned alot made great friends but absolutely awful $. i loved most of my fellow co workers. and i loved all of the members. but LA Fitness doesn't live up to its value it states. its too money hungry and the company doesn't support the real hard working employees. the ones that the members love and support and respect are the ones who should be in charge. instead their rules are so skewed that it makes it impossible to actually do your job if you care like i do. its fine if your right outta HS just wanting to sit and do nothing. or you can make the most and make it a great job. but the company i realized hates the fact that you actually go above and beyond your job. i would say the only good thing about working there is the members are the best. with the higher up management, they don't care about us little guys no matter how much you try and tell them something they just don't care!

I worked here for nearly 3 years as a personal trainer. Barely got new clients yet was expected to be there all day for 25-minute sessions. As a new PT, this was a good stepping stone but do NOT expect to make enough money to live off. They do not care about clients, once the contract is signed they could care less. As an employee, they could also care less about you. I tried to reach out for more clients- none. If you want to stay there- truly do not get promoted to MT. Sure the pay seems better but they really do not sell many master trainer packages. The manager at my location favoured male trainers over the female ones, if you reached out due to a problem you were having you got radio silence. The pay rate and benefits? A full-on lie, you make trash money and never offered or heard of benefits. Sure, you make your own schedule but they will input people in your off times or you wait 4 hours between sessions. Truly, a nightmare working for this company, and would never recommend it unless you are very fresh and need to gain some experience and even then try somewhere else! I hope this deters people from working here as a trainer- as sales sure. They love the sales team, everyone else... a lost cause. 

do not plan on working here long term. you can only work full time they don’t give any flexibility. they have unrealistic sales and marketing expectations, and when you don’t meet their unrealistic standards they berate you and make examples out of people who are late for work by either firing you or threatening to fire you. they aren’t afraid to let you know about the turnover rate and that they can easily replace you. you’re nothing but a number to them they don’t care about you they care about how many memberships you sell. You also get paid minimum wage and only managers make commission. You’re getting paid minimum wage to deal with Karen’s and people angry about their account balance, harass people about buying memberships in person and over the phone, they send us out “marketing” with no setup we just approach people who don’t want to be approached asking if they have a gym membership and they don’t reimburse you for your gas mileage like they’re supposed to when they send us out driving around on our own dime. Also they don’t give the option to work part time or get weekends off, if you aren’t a manager you have to be there on the weekends. 

They pay minimum wage and claim to give bonus but it's nearly impossible to reach. They want you to work long hours and weekends and don't care about anything except getting a sale. Talk to any of the sales or front desk staff and you'll hear how they lose employees like clock work. They use the no contract or no cancel fee as a back door way of making it seem like you're getting some awesome deal but charge a initiation fee which equals out to a cancel fee at any other gym in the province. You need to sell minimum 2 memberships a day or you'll get paid minimum wage. Stay away from this company if you like money cause you won't make any. As for the managment, they don't care what staff has to say. They just pretend they will do something for you but basically wait till you quit or until they can fire you. I've watched employees come in ready and willing to move up in the company only to quit after less then a week cause of the stress and managment. Nobody lasts there and they will say anything to you to make it seem like they care.

A day at work for me began at 9 am during the week and 8 am on Saturday and Sunday. I began by checking my email which usually consisted of results based on a percentage of quota that was met for all of the clubs in the district to get a taste of how we did as a whole. Then we would have a team huddle to discuss everyone's plan for success that day and how we were going to be successful as a team. Then I went on to either meeting with potential buyers, addressing the teams needs or concerns and connecting with the members of the club. The rest of my day would consist of doing whatever it took to create potential leads and converting leads into as many sales as possible. I learned a tremendous amount about working in a cutthroat sales environment. To be consistently successful I learned what my true weaknesses were and improved them. The hardest part of the job was the constant demand to produce while working 60 - 70 hours a week/ 6 days per week. The most enjoyable part of my job was the gratification of helping people and the atmosphere of the gym.

LA Fitness gave me a chance and even though I took that opportunity and applied hard work to then be promoted six months in. Showing hard work and passion I felt alot of attention and recognition for my achievements, personal calls from the Vice President to congratulate me, lunches, prizes and so on and so on. I have ADHD so benefits are extremely important considering my medication can cost up to $400 a month With my benefits I pay 10% of that and that's a privilege I receive with this company. as far as mental and physical health days and support from our piers we have is amazing and so humbling. The cons I have are very short and sweet. I feel staff do need to be held more accountable for their actions and more procedures involved with writing up employees when needed. The pay is amazing but the structure of the bonuses of quotas do change frequently and can be frustrating and slightly unfair but at the end of the day the top priority in sales is profit.

- train clients, includes programming workouts, staying on top of their activity levels and diet, creating a personal relationship and maintaining a positive environment
- learn new things based on how to train different demographics, feed off of information and knowledge from my fellow trainers
- management have very busy jobs, so it is important to be independent and to think on your feet, however, they are always there if you have any problems or need to discuss something important
- my coworkers are very knowledgeable, outgoing people, we get along well, and we can always gain information for one another as we all take on different approaches to training
- the hardest part of the job is scheduling as everyone wants the same time
- the most enjoyable is working and building relationships with clients, having an impact on their lives

LA Fitness was a very active workplace. A typical day would look like interacting with many potential clients, coworkers and staff. I learned how to actively engage and educate clients with fitness and wellness. Management was fair and reasonable. My coworkers were hard working, engaging, uplifting, unique and helpful. I would say the hardest part of the job was to maintain invoice each month and successfully make clients feel and want training. The most enjoyable part of the job was educating not only clients, but friends and family that were interested in acquiring knowledge about fitness, wellness and a balanced diet. It was also nice to know that the knowledge you are learning yourself everyday can be passed on to someone else to bettering their own lifestyle. Showing them the benefits of personal training and living a healthier lifestyle as well.

Management was pretty good, facility was nice and clean.
But only having 25 minute sessions with clients. Which costs the $56, where you only see $7.50. Is crazy. (Yes that is $15/hr. But if you have a gap between any sessions, you arent paid for it).
After dozens of conversations. Not even management knew how to be move from personal trainer to a master trainer (get paid $11.50/session). 
Don't get any of the baseline data gathered from clients initial session, so have to either redo another assessment and goal setting session (which none of themever want to do)
To rven get fulltime hours, need roughly 18  25 minute sessions per day. 5 days per week. Dont get paid to prospect or create programs on your own time. Which envourages using cookie cutter workouts...
