LAIDLAW TRANSIT

I have learned a lot as being a bus driver driving a car is different then a 72 passenger school bus. I was scared at first but I got the hang it. I had to remember my route by printing out maps at that time I didn't have a GPS but I did have a computer, a printer and knowledge of web surfing to help me with my route location and an easier way to do it in an orderly time fashion. I dealt with students, staff members, principals and other clients during the time I was employed by Laidlaw transit LTD ASA First Student Canada. I had fun during that time I love driving to the different locations and love problem solving with students in seating planning, I made sure the students arrived safe to school and to the acquired address in the route. I did it!! To bad I couldn't go back when it was time for me to go back as I did get hurt in 2009 and I couldn't recover in time when I did recover I couldn't find a babysitter for my oldest son, they couldn't give me a route close to his school either a person was assigned that route and plus the daycare that I did have my son in had no spaces available his spot was already taken by another child.
Now I am ready to go back to work after bring home for 5 years it took my awhile to job search because no one hired me in 2010-2011.
In 2011 I had my second child and I got really sick after 6 months I ended up in the hospital I had surgery done Hartman surgery which took me 6 weeks to recover then I had to go back after the recovery for a reversal Hartman surgery and that took another 6 weeks to recover. 2012 I developed two hernias which has been monitoring from the doctor as I do have to lose 50 lbs to get hernia repair which is going to take some time. I am ready to go back to work, anything will do but I have limits I cant lift more then 25lbs

- doing the bus run
- how to deal with the public and the parents
- they where respectable and easy to approach
- we had lots of laughs over a cup of coffee
- winter road conditions
- getting the kids home safe

This company is an excellent job for people that would like to work part time, the company will train you with pay and you could join our professional team. Overall this company is a great place to work

I drove kids to school and back home. Everyone i worked with was great and the management was good to but i did not see them that much. The hardest part was driving in the winter with all those kids on the bus but i enjoyed my time with them.

This was a great place to work getting all the kids to and from school was a challenge at times but we managed. The staff were great made some lifelong friends there and management was good.

I found the other drivers friendly and willing to help if you needed it. The dispatcher was good to work with most times. Overall, I would recommend this place or work.

I looked forward to going to work each and every day as I thoroughly enjoyed my job.  Management were good to the employees.

This job consists of driving our young students to and from school safely.  Conducting vehicle checks to make sure the bus is in perfect working order.

Was a great place to work but company has been sold. It's time to move on and exit school bus driving and work with the public. Sad they are leaving and wish the would have stayed
