What is the best part of working at the company?
The night shift works well as a team. And staffing is usually adequate. You can’t usually find a place to go on break alone

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
PSWs are not allowed to make progress notes, there is too much management, and most managers are not hands on. The scent free environment is not well enforced and they need to give enviornmental staff more hours or better equipment . The laundry process is disorganized.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Some evidence of nepotism. Not a lot of people I would socialize with. Company doesn’t really care for their employees.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy. A lot of safety rounds. And as a float I get called upon to do one on one with agitated residents.

During my time at Lanark, I have worked all of the shifts from starting as casual to then working a part time line.  In that time, in the dietary department  I have worked with a number of co-workers and learned everyone has a different way of working.  These co-workers have all been helpful and effective, to help me out with different job routines and tasks on different floors.  These co-workers and myself were also helpful to new hires at Lanark in our department.  In conclusion, Lanark Heights LTC is a productive workplace with a great team of friendly, effective, helpful dietary and kitchen workers.

I would say that, there is no support from management. The DOC doesn't even acknowledge your existence. Won't reply to any concerns you have even. There is safety concerns as well: all the time you are calling BSO for back up to prevent a code white. Once I called and was surprised the BSO person was in my very own dinning room, they had been there all along and failed to help me out when a resident was trying to hit me during dinner service. There is no support! They may terminate you at any time before your probation without even talking to you. They go through employees like toilet paper!

High turnover of middle managers says a lot about the environment here. Many weird rules that are in place just because. Most co-workers are good to work with but a few are toxic. Lots of part time and full time lines open. They recently started scheduling a nurse for each home area overnight due to all the behaviours. Often short staffed...always being asked to come in early, work doubles, come in on your only day off. Easy to burn out if full time. Also not many nursing skills to learn here and scope is very limited.

This home is very poorly managed. No communication from management and they do not understand day to day life in the home. They just want to save money.
Staff are not helpful. Not willing to assist with anything outside of their job description and do not respond to residents requests 
The home posted my contract to hire someone else without telling me and I found out because I saw the job online. This was to save money

Colleagues are always helping each other. They follow the policy for safety(for example,  using mechanical lifts). Also, I loved every single management person in this LTC. They were flexible and listening. I have worked few LTCs and retirement home and I genuinely enjoyed working for this facility. 

The place where I felt at home while working. The residents are wonderful, and the staff members treat one another as members of a family. Management is respectful and encouraging. The members of the team are supportive with one another.

Nurses all very nice, compassionate and caring. Some PSW's were not as caring and didn't treat the residents the way they deserve to be treated (eg. telling residents to wait until after meals to be toileted or telling them to use their brief when they asked to be put on the toilet). Staff is cliquey.

If you need this job to survive, don't take it!!!! Management and the nurses, PSW's are all nice. Hard work but rewarding. You will not get enough money to survive. This is an extra cash type of job.

They don’t about your car if you come to work there no parking and park on street some happened to your car they will not help with their cameras on the building it happened to me I have been working for two to three  and manager will not even help me find hit my car
