• Maintain and calibrate ABB model 2000 and 3100 online Gas Chromatograph analyzers
• Maintain and calibrate ABB multi-FID-14 and Ionics online environmental analyzer
• Troubleshoot and repair phenol analyzer
• Maintain and calibrate ABB Multiwave Inferred analyzer
• Calibrated, repaired and replaced pH probes
• Maintained and calibrated siemens Oxymat Oxygen analyzer
• Troubleshoot and diagnose analyzer sample systems

A typical day involved many meetings and dealing with day to day normal emergency and security operations,scheduling of personnel  and long term projects ,which included participation  with local and federal authorities, and other local petrochemical companies  as well as company management. In addition to the normal daily operations managing site emergencies as they arose was a mission critical role of the position.

The position was both challenging yet rewarding. The company provided for freedom of decision making.

Compensation was fair as compared to similar positions with other companies.

Helped to cement good writing and presenting skills
Needs improvement on quality systems including control charting
Safety is a main value, good safety reputation and safety plans in place
Difficult expressing personal views despite straight talk being a core value
Great people as co-workers, diverse group of knowledge and experience
Emphasis on less important issues in relation to day-to-day needs of employees vs. more important issues

It's a good place to work but lots of high expectations of the people to try and raise the standards of the plant. Factory is overall safe and lots of investment in safety and automation and the managers and supervisors are good to get along with. Engineering support needs work, production manager is nice but she is not on top of things and causes stress for their people because of it. 

As part of a service organization I enjoyed problem solving to address internal customer needs. Operational budgets were fair and management provided everything I required to make my responsibilities achievable.

Great opportunity for new engineers.  Significantly more responsibility than those starting in the oil and gas sector.  The atmosphere and people are great.  There is some risk associated with downsizing and the potential for advancement is limited.

Work environment is good, less stress at job but poor benefits and less pay. Other department members gossip about others. Workplace politics. Union is the worst.

There are great people to work with but there is no opportunity to advance.Great benefits and vacation time. The management is lacking. A lot of employee's get away with things they shouldn't because management won't stand up.

Review problems from previous shift,Trend running parameters, stabilise plant and maintain. To maintain a plant we have to focus on every detail. Management is always striving for better results. No two people are the same. Problem solving succesfully

I really enjoyed my time at Lanxess during my 8 month co-op term. Co-workers are amazing. Management is great! Culture is also nice. The work is different every day and it is great!
