LASIK MD

I have been working in the Marketing leadership team for over 13 years. 
My role evolved in several meaningful ways. Special projects, areas of responsibility, cross department collaboration, larger team management, new brands and territories,etc.
I have been recognised and appreciated in many ways over the years by my manager and employer through praise, compensation and job advancement. 
LASIK MD is an excellent place to work for someone in a marketing role, we are a North American leader and our work is very much rewarding and exciting. 
I love working with my colleagues, we are a large team, efficient and not bureaucratic or competitive. And we have A LOT of fun together. Even remotely during Covid our culture has maintained. 
Our culture is one of the many reasons I stayed with the company for so long, along with the fact that I continue to learn everyday and have the opportunity to do great work and advance my career. 

The biggest plus for me at VGC is the sense of freedom - you're trusted to perform your duties in the way that works best for you. Challenges are regular but at a pace which is manageable - projects are given enough time to progress at a pace which is reasonable: challenging and achievable (without bending over backward). 
You'll grow your skills with each new project - we're always evolving, ever-adapting to new technologies and ideas.

Your Leaders absolutely care about you as a person first, offer support in a meaningful way, respect your time and your thoughts/ideas.

It's not a perfect workplace - as none is - and the tradeoff is you won't have the most competitive salary. There's not a lot of turnover (that's good!) which means there is an implied ceiling of advancement (that's less good). 

If you're looking to be surrounded by intelligent, competent people who are genuinely all doing their best and recognize that you are too - it's a great place to be. 

  

They hire smart juniors and make them work A LOT. Long hours tight deadlines new projects. They push you to Learn more and be more, they time your tasks to make you efficient. Very small to none increase in salaries even if you had multiple noticeable achievement , they take you out for lunch dinner but they won’t pay you much more. Once you reached your maximum potential they will find someone cheaper, cus you already made the process better and they will use your results not you. I applaud the intelligence of management for choosing the motivated juniors and technique they use to push employees potential, the record keeping of procedures- at the end anyone can do your job. But really it’s a place to grow not a place to stay. Lots of turnovers. The company is very profitable, but they don’t even share that with senior employees. They had demoted/ changed title to a whole team of employees. Very discouraging. Why? Cuz they don’t care if you stay.

On a typical day: Enter the office to see others gossiping, not working and ignoring patients. Management is rarely present or aware of protocol and they're are the last to arrive and first to leave. 4 different managers and told different answers from each. Overbooked schedule, short staffed, no breaks. Pay doesn't match workload, a painter makes more and has much less stress or responsibility. Management turns situations around to avoid accountability on their end, they never apologize for their errors and inappropriately blame staff for surgeon or patient issues. Stuck working hours past scheduled shifts and told to stay when not expecting it, last minute depends due to poor planning on management's end. Some staff see 25 patients a day and some see 4, no consequences for lazy staff. Only a good place to work if you want to be taken for granted and under paid.

Everyday is different and brings it's own challenges. Surgery days are very busy but it's great because it makes the day go fast pace. Management is always looking to see where you can grow in your role and also the opportunity to expand yourself in other roles that interest you. The most rewarding part of working at LasikMD is knowing you made a patient's day even better. Patient's leaving the clinic happy and excited for surgery and even after surgery has been completed knowing that patient's are happy with their results. The work culture at LasikMD is fun, friendly, very supportive & rewarding.  

I started back in late 2020, and to this day, I could not imagine being anywhere else; landing this job was a true blessing. I was welcomed as family from day one. The company culture is so positive, caring, and so many people have gone out of their way to help me. Not only are there so many opportunities for employees to grow and move up, but you are encouraged to do so, which is a beautiful thing. 
After every social event (now virtual due to Covid-19), we have an option to leave feedback, and the feedback is actually read and action is taken. This is a company that truly cares about its employees, no doubt about it!! If you are looking for a place to call home, this is it. 

Honestly, I've had a pretty good experience here. The management  at my location is really helpful and the bonuses are pretty big and happen regularly. I would rather have a higher hourly wage than a bonus, but it's still nice. The work itself is not really difficult. Surgery days can be long, but non-surgery days are considerably shorter so it works out. Some of the protocols seem silly because it's a corporation, and there are always things that don't really apply to each location or seem unnecessary. Overall though, it's a decent place to work. I think a lot of reviews are probably dependent on location.

Poor management support.  Unfair compensation. Disorganized. Zero work/ life balance. High turnover rate! Company only cares about their sales quotas and appearance, not at all concerned about proper support or training! They try to hush employees upon exit so that they maintain their good image, but the patients see through it all. They often comment it’s like a production line. Also, breaks are rarely available as the schedules are blocked so tight. This company could be great if there was better support, training and care for their employees.

Save yourself, for the sake of your mental health. Very poor management. They promised me a full time job but they only gave me max of 25-30hrs per week. No lunch breaks. Too much drama and the “OGs” wont make you feel welcome. Too much gossip and if you made a mistake, 80% chance the whole team would know it. If you’re newly hired, expect to do mopping, cleaning, heavy-lifting and stocking up almost all of the time. Tasks are not equally distributed. Favouritsm. Also, dont leave your personal coffee mug in the clinic as there’s a 90% chance someone else would use it without your permission. 

The level of STRESS is really high. No balance with available work hours and the amount of tasks, unpaid extra hours. the employee effort is always not enough for the managers. The salary is really cheap comparing the responsibilities and comparing to the Job Market. The most important thing for the company is their benefit. Useless Employee Satisfaction Surveys. No action is taken on the poor result of these surveys, or maybe just fire the unsatisfied employee !!!! the employee branding doesn't mean anything for this company, it is obvious through high numbers of their turnovers. No RRSP or Pension plan contribution.
