No job severity because of funding model.  Many people including management are very cliquey (which is very immature).  But that is exactly what happens when the HR people are minimally educated and have just flung to their jobs for 30 years based on nothing.  They pawn off their work on everyone else and if you don’t do it they just hate you and get rid of you as soon as they can. It’s a huge political game which is very sad for the healthcare and research industry.

Opportunities for advancement and ability to take on more responsibility.
Very busy.
Many opportunities for overtime.

Always hearing about benefits and raises and perks for nurses but nothing for anyone else.  There are so many important workers at the hospital and for some reason all the glory goes to nurse while half of them are not even working as hard as other staff.  

LHSC provides great wages however unless your a full time employee your stuck working mandatory weekends for years on end as no one retires early and its very competitive to get a full time position. It's so competitive that people turn against each other to reach the top (full time).

A toxic place to work in
Poor management.
Stress is high and with toxic environment make it worse 
Training is a struggle they still try to learn 
Salary is good and if they like you your life will be good if not you have to find another job

Good place to work as a PSW But you are just a number there is a good chance no one knows or will know your name as a big hospital a centralized staffing organization handles your schedule you show up and do the job that's all.

I have worked for LHSC for over seven years mostly in the emergency department. Working in the ER gave me the capability to use my critical thinking skills on a daily basis and autonomy working as a registered nurse

If you can afford to work here, the pace is manageable.  Great job for retirees.  Be prepared to feel 3rd class.  Maintenance workers get zero respect from 90% of the other staff, unless they need help.
