When new, you may feel lonely at times. Sometimes you can be  overwhelmed by the many emails that  flow into your box

Very positive environment.  Can be overwhelming especilly when still new

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Fast- paced all day long. But when intergrated well with other team members, you can enjoy the team spirit

Did not like working at LHSC Victoria Hospital. It was like high school but 10 times worst in regards to people talking behind your back. So many people are flat out upset all the time or negative. And I couldn't believe what they serve patients! white bread with tuna, ginger ale, chocolate snack packs??? I'm no genius, but I'm sure that sick people could use some real nutrition. Definitely, one of the worst places I've ever worked. With that being said, I met a lotta great people there, and the hospital definitely is a place that can breed a lotta disgruntled and frustrated employees. It is a hard job, to say the least

I worked as a porter at Victoria Hospital for the summer and enjoyed the job itself, the people, and the environment. For the first two weeks of non-stop training hours I believed it would be a great job for me. I needed to make money and was getting lots of hours, until my training ended and I got about 1 shift a week. I wish the hours were guaranteed for certain summer employees. Always read your contract and discuss the “no guarantee of hours” before hand with the employer.

Some employees have 'termination without cause ' clauses in their employment contracts.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Fairly welcoming to LGBTQ+ people. Some departments have toxic work environments

I worked as an Environmental Service worker (janitor) in the emergency department mostly...cleaned floors, beds and bathrooms
I learned quickly that this was not my career.
Management were rarely seen but took to sending emails mostly...the workplace culture dealt with stress and sadness.
Hardest part of the job was seeing people at their worst and not being able to help.

LHSC is likely facing the same challenges as other acute-care hospitals in regards to staffing. Staffing numbers are low, work/patient load can be highly acute. Greenshield's benefits package is a joke, less than $400 for massage/physio.

The people you work with are very clicky, gossipy, and backstabbers. However, the Clinic Manager was very nice but very busy. People are overworked and deal with a ton of stress. The Children's area should not be in the same area as the Adult Emerg. It's very unsafe and waiting periods very long and people/kids are very frustrated

Don’t be excited to work here they like you at first to get you in the door and then treat you terrible. You are just a numbered robot. They don’t care about you sick child and a car accident that may have happed they need a body to work that’s it. Terrible bosses on the or. Just a business

I had a good experience working at LHSC. For a student, as myself I found the hours to be a bit long but with an excellent wage. The job could be a bit stressful, so if you’re considering applying, be prepared for it.

The whole hiring process took about 2 weeks. 
Did a phone interview and in person interview. 
Lots of questions asked during interview. 
Everyone is polite and easy going. Lots of opportunity for growth.
