LIBERTY SECURITY

Working at Liberty taught me how not to treat people. The company is set up into several regions with regional managers overseeing offices managed by sales directors. Most regional and local sales directors at Liberty are more interested in you recruiting for them than in teaching you how to sell and be succesful. The biggest problem with working at Liberty is nepotism and playing favourites. All sales reps are paid commissions but not all are paid the same. Rookie reps get paid roughly $250 per sale, but if you're friends with an owner or someone high up you can expect closer to $500 (even as a rookie!), which is more than most experienced sales reps make. Unlike most commission based jobs, the commissions are not the same across the board with some reps set up as dealers, making thousands per sale and others making a fraction- yet both have the same sales totals! Opportunities for advancement are largely non existent as Liberty simply outsources, and doesn't promote from within the company. And of course everyone can be a manager, which is what they tell you so that you will recruit more people into their scam.

Having worked at several alarm companies I can say that Liberty's office is by far the worse. I never had a proper pay cheque, and when I enquired to have it resolved, no response- they don't really care.

Office staff are not in the least bit helpful, which results in grumpy sales reps, and grumpy customers. Getting the office to assist is borderline impossible. Ultimately if you want a job selling alarms in the summer, look elsewhere- you are likely to find better service for your customers, better pay, more advancement opportunities, and a company that is interested in your success, not just how much they can take from you.

From my experience, among the players in the security business, Liberty takes (1) customer service (2) customer satisfaction and (3) customer value for $ spent WAY more seriously than its competitors. Growth of the company has been fast, but not as meteoric as others; however, the success has been built on a high majority of happy customers that actually use their systems weekly. The company is still privately owned and the owners work and manage locally alongside all other staff. Some have said that systems need to be built and things need to be more efficient - true. This is the challenge available to those working at small/medium manager owned companies. If you want to get involved, dig in, build the process and keep it working - you are empowered and enabled to do so. If you want to work at a big corporate outfit that has all processes software and systems laid out for you (not likely), then expect to be paid alot less, because they don't need thinking get-it-done kinds of people - they need a higher volume of average people. Staff at Liberty are younger to middle aged for the most part - all capable people are welcome. Employees are generally good ethical people, and the majority is family oriented. Many other security companies are about selling first, making money, cool clothes, cool cars, and party party. There is lot's of fun and laughs at Liberty, and sales are taken very seriously as it is the lifeblood...but customer service gets as much attention. Parties and informal employee get-togethers are PG and there is usually babies and younger kids running around.

People always watch videos online about how to get rich and live a lavish life but then when it comes down to it they aren't willing to put in the work. Liberty gave me every opportunity to be successful. I know that when I wasn't successful it wasn't because Liberty was doing something wrong but because I just wasn't putting in the time and effort I needed to. To many people today think that they are owed something and those type of people will never go far in sales and commission jobs because in this industry you have to go out and put in the work to get the reward, nothing is given freely. 

I have worked for other companies in the alarm industry and by far Liberty cares the most about its employees. They also pay more than any other alarm company. I do not work for Liberty anymore but if there was anyone looking to get into the alarm industry I would always refer them to work for Liberty before anyone else. As an example just last year I referred my brother in law who was planning on going to work for Vivint to look into Liberty and after little research it was an easy decision for him to go with Liberty. After the summer he did the math and realized he made thousands more with Liberty than he would have had he sold the same with Vivint. 

This is not an easy job but Liberty is by far the best company to work for in the industry.

I am part of the Corporate Sales team. This is a group within the company that takes care of sales year round. There have been some changes within this team over my time with Liberty but the culture within the group has remained a constant. All of us have the same values and drive to succeed. This has made working at Liberty a pleasant and fulfilling experience. 

To be more specific these are the reasons why my time at Liberty has been great:
-Liberty helps you out a ton to get sales
-I get paid well for the sales I bring in
-There are many incentives that push you to sell. I have gone on a annual trip with my wife due to this which is something I have never had at any other company I have worked for.
-I get really nice and comfortable Liberty swag (I hate clothes shopping for myself so this is awesome)
-I work with successful, driven family men. I am a family man myself so this pushes me to be better
-I get paid 100% through commissions. Which means there are no strings attached with the money I receive. I have no one breathing down my neck
-Great relationship/interactions between departments and department heads
-Many "culture cultivating" get togethers (eg. potlucks, bbq's, christmas party, etc.)
-You can make as much or as little as you want


Here are the negatives:
-No clear path to next level/advancement

Liberty is one of the best companies I've worked for.  Just like their customers they truly try to take care of their own.  The job is very mentally demanding but if you put the time and effort in that is needed to be successful and enjoy talking to people you if you put the time and effort in that is needed to be successful and enjoy talking to people you will do well.  That being said,  this industry is not for everyone and people that leave usually leave with a sour taste in their mouth because they were not willing to put the work in. I have found get personal and financial success. Liberty has really worked with me personally to help me achieve my goals because me being successful help the company to be successful. All the managers I have worked with are seasonened vets and are more than willing to share their knowledge with you.
Like with any commission job there is room for  negotiation but after being approached by several other companies into the industry I know that liberty gives their reps the best opportunity to make the most money in the industry.

Worked for Liberty as a field service tech in Ontario. Wild driving hours, expect to drive 8-10 hours some days and don't expect any time to rest. No advising on taking breaks or proper driving training for long hours. Tight schedule. New drivers beware. 

Little to no field training , must be a self starter and solve problems on your own when supervisors do not answer their phone. 

Pay was good enough , but lack of good scheduling and working on the road will kill your work life balance. 

Company is friendly enough, you'll get along with everyone on a personal level. Although will try to make you work sometimes when you're sick. 

Liberty isn't perfect but I haven't ever found or heard of a better company to work with. Every job that is satisfying and rewarding takes sacrifice and hard work, the jobs at Liberty are no different. However when you are surrounded by good people that you can tell genuinely want to take care of the customers and people around them you can feel confident and positive about the job you do. That is how I feel about my time working at Liberty, the people there have created an atmosphere that makes you want to do a good job for each other and the customers they serve.

I loved the job, it was exciting adventurous since we traveled a fair bit. It was also very difficult some days since Liberty is a door-door marketing/sales company. I learned how to sell in cold calling situations as well as learning to read certain customers behaviors. 

The workplaces felt more like a home, we were all family and we looked out for each other.

The hardest part though was seeing your fellow sales associates not making the cut and having to leave.

My favorite part was seeing the smiles that I would put on customers faces.
