go to the shop, get the scope of what the job/jobs of the day were, leave with the foreman and check out the jobs for the day, gather information on each job and how many people/time each job will generally take to complete and materials/ equipment required to carry out the jobs efficiently. i learned that some people are 1 trick poines meaning they only know how to do one job out of the whole spectrum of jobs involved with paving which is some situations is fine but it isn't much help when that job isn't currently required i pride myself in my ability to do pretty much any job involving paving and doing it up to standards. hardest part of my job was having to do more then just my job at work because some people were not able to do more then the one job they have been doing for 20 years in the business. 
the most enjoyable part of my job was fixing other peoples mistakes with the rake and trying to make it look like there was never a mistake, i am my biggest critic when raking.

Working at sea on a ship is different than any other job in the world. You will spend 6 months away from home with little contact with the outside world other than the internet from a coffee shop. You will work 7 days a week for the whole 6 months. You will have to wake up at 9am for boat drill after working until 5am...
However....
You will also get to see more of the world than most people ever do, will wake up in a different country every 3 days and will become best friends with people from the other side of the planet. You will walk into crew bar where people are speaking 10+ languages and will learn how to swear in most of them.
The people who you will work with will be super passionate about what they do because otherwise they wouldn't be there and you will gain experiences most people never get.

Basically, it's not the job for everyone. Some people love it and spend 20ys doing it, some people fly home after 3 weeks. If you're looking for an adventure go for it, if you want a 9to5 schedule and the comforts of home then stay away.

If you're a show band musician, you have a lot of time in the day to explore many different cultures in port cities across the globe. On a typical day at work, you can sleep in, eat a healthy breakfast and go on shore to see the sights in a different country. Arriving back to the ship after seeing tourist attractions or going for a tour, we perform in the evenings and night times. 

I've learned about ship culture. Boat drills, rules and regulations onboard, CPR training, safety, security, and anything else that goes onboard. 

Management is fantastic. They really take care of you whenever there are issues with anything or everything. The co-workers are always supportive knowing that ship life can be trying at times.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the experience of a life-time. You're in the middle of the ocean in warm, sunny weather myles away from home and enjoying everything a cruise has to offer.

working in a ship requires hardwork. i learned to be more patient around people not just to the guest but my colleagues too.we work for 7 days a week for 10 months, with 10-14 hours of work in day broken schedule-breakfast/lunch/dinner. i learned to be more flexible because you get to be assigned in all and different dining areas and its very unpredictable all the time.i get along well with my co-workers because we all have the same priorities and goals as well as with our managers.the hardest part is that you don't have a day off just a meal off for thewhole day sometimes none specially if its a day at sea.working straight for 10 months is really difficult when you altrady feel tired so what we do is just enjoy each others company comfort, help each other and have fun very now and then to somehow ease the stress we feel

Woke up at 5:00am getting ready for breakfast since our buffet is open at 6:00am. Smile greet and repeat to each and every guest making sure that everything is prepared for them from beverages to omelet. Our management team is very critical with regards to cleanliness, security which is really good to make sure everybody is safe. The hardest part of my job is when there's bad weather which is possible for rough seas. Its really hard to serve when the boat is shaking and moving especially for soups order, but you have to continue serving guests and making sure nothing will be wasted, so go on serving and dance with the ship.

I was promoted 3 times in 3 years. Started as Receptionist, then Group Services Coordinator, then Passenger/Embarkation Officer and finally Personnel Manager Officer. All administrative and customer service related tasks, as a team player under pressure due to the number of passengers and the handling of personal sensitive information. I had to attend the weekly Director's meeting with the Captain, at sea and write weekly reports among other responsibilities. It was a challenging and fun work experience, the best of all as I got to see the world and meet different cultures on board and off shore. I highly recommend this experience for those who love adventure, travel, languages, people, love to think outside the box, and love change

Working in a ship are not easy unlikely you working in a landbase because you have to consider a lot of things not only in your working responsibilities but also the task that you have to take care the guest in terms of the safety and security.In working side you will learn a lot of things because its a big floating hotel so we serve different cuisine in different restaurants.Its really a big responsibilities in terms also with the hygienic side you have to pass the USPH standard that the company set also.You should also learn to make a huge preparation for the productions,you should also need to familiarize with the equiepment that you will used because its quite different the one that we used in a landbase.In general working in a cruise ship are really different in a landbase you need to consider a lot of things.

A day of work is busy,i learned a lot of things how to communicate people well ,because they are from different countries and  different nationalities too.and to serve the guest is more fun because you learn from their different language too.management their good.co workers are nice also u must treat them well and fair because your in one community.the hardest part of the job if you have long hours like 12 to 13 hours if you assign in the biggest restaurant and busiest restaurant but,but they have also good hours in other restaurant which is not busy which i Experience too. the most enjoyable part of my job see to it that my guest before they leave they have a great dining experience,and they come back and look for me to serve them again.to give them a great customer service.because they deserve it.

One typical day in the ship start usually very early, if we have to open one bar, we need to prepare every single detail for the bar.
I really have learnt a lot of things, since how to cut perfectly the garnish until how to make the guest completely happy, as their home.
On board there a lot of people from different countries, I have worked with them and is very nice because we can learn the different cultures and traditions.
The hardest part of the job could be when we have to run when we can go out, because the time is not enough when we like to visit the places.
however the enjoyable part of the job is to share with the people and to consider them as your own family and of course when the passenger let you know that you are their vacation hero, that is amazing!!!
