LJ Welding Automation

As a member of the shipping department my day to day work involves preparing our outgoing orders for shipping by performing function tests of all outgoing equipment and ensuring all items are packaged properly and safely.  I personally have benefited from extensive opportunities for training in various skills both on and off site such as forklift, overhead crane, and workplace health and safety training with each course being recognized as an accredited program. Furthermore, there exist opportunities for advancement within the company such as possible apprenticeships within our welding, machining, and millwrighting departments. Having been lucky enough to receive one such opportunity myself I am confident in my assessment that LJ is a company committed to investing in the success and growth of its employees. Management works closely with it's employees to help improve not only job performance and productivity but also workplace safety, with considerable time and effort invested in improving LJ safety culture. Even though Shipping can become hectic at times given the jobs nature, the atmosphere of my workplace means that even though we might be busy no one ends up feeling overly stressed out. The company often also engages in company wide activities such as pizza or bbq appreciation lunches as well as festive celebrations. To sum up my time at LJ so far the best, I would say that if you do right by LJ, LJ will do right by you. I'm quite fortunate to have found such a wonderful workplace and look forward to continuing with my new career here.

The challenging work has let me significantly expanded my knowledge and abilities in machining.  
 The management always incorporates itself into day to day operations, to create an unparalleled comfort in the workplace with a friendly open door policy.
 New and exciting challenges daily. Great benefits,wages and safety always a major priority for the people working there.  Management takes that extra step to keep the company morale positive.
Team work and collaboration to getting the job done seems to always be the motive.

High stressed environment with infinite external pressures, but it's the internal stresses that get you. Management is disorganized, they do not practice what they preach. LJ is inundated with micromanaging, abuse, and incompetence. They have no system in place, no structure. They have no supply, nothing that allows a company to operate successfully and have unrealistic expectations. The environment is toxic.

Great group of people, and interesting job scope. Typically work 4 shifts a week at 10 hours, with optional overtime on your day off. (sometimes a little expected when busier). They keep their employees busy.

Enjoying my time here so far. Definitely the most organized company I have worked for, and everyone is very helpful. My manager in the electrical department is easy to get a long with.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
10 hour days 4 days a week assembling and using tools all day some heavy lifting.

I spent a year at lj in the welding shop. Brilliant group of people. The company has a great footing. Foreman of the welding bay was brilliant and always made sure everyone had what they needed as far as tools and equipment. Good family environment. 
Only down side was the lack of tickets and not having the ability to keep up to date with your certification.

LJ is a great place to work with many employees that have been there over a decade. LJ was one of the only manufacturing facilities that were hiring and expanding throughout the dark days of Alberta. With many high profile clients and global installations, you experience so many unique projects. Great place for advancement and to learn.

The company takes pride in their equipment and technology, they do fun baseball and camping trips every year, the owners are smart, kind business people and I owe a lot of my success to what I was able to learn at the company starting out after school. Very grateful for my time at LJ.

LJ's got a great team of people who are kind, friendly, helpful and it feels like a family. It's a very busy place and they've got some heavy-weight big name customers that rely on the team to meet production and shipping deadlines, and so that can be a bit stressful for some people. Love working at LJ!

This is a great place to work.  Some of the best people I have had the pleasure working along side.  We are a growing company that is branching off into new industries that comes with a sense of pride in what I do.  I can now tell my kids, that I played a part in this generations space race!
