My days would differ depending on how many intakes I had to conduct in the community, meetings I attended at the LOFT head office or within my office located in a house.

I was constantly taking calls for individuals/families/ professionals looking for short-term housing for their client. Thus I would conduct phone screenings, set up in-person intake meetings, and conduct the meetings. Then present them weekly to my managers at their office. 

My office was in a house that housed 10 individuals with severe mental illness and/or addictions who were at risk of losing their housing due to their symptoms. Thus our program provided temporary housing where clients could improve their skills and obtain services to re-integrate back into society successfully. My role entails not only intakes, but determining the board fees, the rm to move into, move-in date, setting up the physical and electronic files and pairing clients with housing workers and case managers -myself or another visiting case manager.  I also really enjoyed having the opportunity to learn the new skills of supervising a college placement student about my role.

I really enjoyed the clients I worked with as I provided case management support as needed, assisting them with whatever they needed. Having the opportunity to learn from the housing staff who knew the program extensively, collaborating with them, and with other colleagues at LOFT, to successfully support clients and ensure the smooth running of our program, was very rewarding.

I worked with LOFT  for approximately 11 years.

This is an extremely fast paced environment with constant change. I had opportunities for training which were amazing. Trainings however are often tailored to 'fit a need' at the time. They are reactive, not proactive.

Team work is amazing and the teams all support each other!

Management are not invested in their employees. Judgement and criticism are common from management at the program level. The level of admin for most employees is stressful.

I value all I learnt while at LOFT. The clients educate you! The more I engaged and discovered the lack of services available, the more I was driven to support the members.

I loved working for the members of this program, and will mess being able to support them. 





My director and other team members always made be feel successful in supporting my clients.  I was given many opportunities to grow and learn on the job training at a high intensive skills level.  The program LOFT created to support individuals with behaviours is the best I’ve seen in my 10+ years experience in healthcare and I appreciate that it’s evidence based approach.  With regards to problem solving, all the case managers I’ve worked with were quick to share their stories that they faced themselves and always offered amazing strategies to implement and trial for cognitive impaired individuals.  The training  was specific, concrete and detailed.

Not sure. Don't know why we're forced to answer this if there's nothing good to say.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They work you to the bone, Encourage training to work you more. Workers do not get a break working here.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Corporate, All about saving money. Pay is below low- workers Living at the poverty line with the people it serves. Everyone leaves.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Run around, No breaks no lunches, If you do it's almost like you committed a crime. Get screamed at by clients and not supported by mission values of the company, Directors make you do shady stuff to get numbers stats.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Being able to move about in the community so you aren’t stuck at the office.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management uses old fashioned tactics to motivate employees. Work is never completed  because there is not enough staff so staff must always cover more than their share of clients.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There seems to be a lack of care and debriefing for staff after unpleasant incidents and deaths.  “You knew you were getting into this so buck up.”

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Rush rush rush start to finish; to see clients, get admin work done; notes, mileage, etc.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Consideration for every skill level and opportunity for new comer.
And understanding of a worker and a supervisor. Teamwork.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
None actually if you compared other workplace. You won’t believe until if you work for them.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Team environment . For example as a cook you have to physically fit to load Sysco food twice a week. Cook  food from scratch as per the menu based on rescipe . Serve the resident and wash the dishes.


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You have to do little bit of everything as a cook in a relaxed environment.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I've worked in the food and nutrition section in 2 different locations and I can say it's been an awesome experience. Workload is relatively manageable and management is supportive. The pay is a bit low though but I value the healthy work environment over high pay

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Some staff can be toxic but this is common in most workplaces. The management is great. The clientele is also very demanding

Inclusive, friendly, a place to learn and grow

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy through out the shift but fulfilling

I worked at the historic shelter in downtown Toronto near U of T. Honestly the clients are  so lovely, but the dynamic between staff and management is just so toxic I had to make a hard decision to quit. Manager will scream and talk down at you for the smallest most unnecessary things. Pointless drama between staff. Pay does not at all match the amount of work you have to do but I think I would’ve stayed if there was more respect from the manager. Unfortunate as I really love my clients here. 

Working as a Community Service worker at LOFT Community Services is very rewarding. I work in the Community of York Region, and manage my Caseload. I often get a very positive feedback from the management. I love working with my team as everyone is so willing to help and to provide support when needed.
It is sometimes difficult to liase with certain agencies in the  community in order to establish a support network for my Client.
Most enjoyable part of my job is to see my Clients achieving their Goals.

As a former employee stated that favoritism is shown to their favorite staffs and clients. There are very few support for staffs. 
Management say alot of things but when it comes to execute what is stated it doesn't happen. This company hide behind it's name as the name is well recognized but isn't as great as everyone thinks. 
Clients are not being supported on ways that they should and are held down.
There benefits are terrible and so is there wages. They are very cheap and your hard work is not acknowledged.
