This is a place where you need ask yourself: is it worth it? The residents are simply loveable and you can get attached to some of them. The problem is are the PSW’s. They don’t care about the residents. When a resident needs help they ignore them. Residents are in wet Briefs overnight and lying in a soaking bed. PSW’s who transfer a resident without assistance don’t get reprimanded. Plus there was always a shortage of PSW’s calling sick for no reason. Lastly the desserts that aren’t eaten by the residents are gobbled up by the PSW’s who should know better. All in all management needs to buck up.The PSW’s should go back to school and be retrained in empathy and have a work ethic.Till then the residents are the ones who are going to suffer. At least I know they didn’t have to worry about anything when I was there. I was always there for my shifts. That’s a dedicated PSW. 😊

They pay better than most but the management is the same, they will overwork you and get mad at you when you won't take the extra hours they add onto your line with no notice. Hopefully management has changed since then. The charting systems are outdated for PSWs(paper) then transferring the information onto the computer is the nurses responsiblity, which takes up quite a bit of time from them being on the floor and I find the nurses here are quite overworked (most of the staff are but the nurses have especially long shifts and usually don't have much support from higher ups). There are a lot more behaviours here as well as it is a private LTC home. But on the plus side for the most part the people you work with are amazing, it's more laid back than most, and I find most of the psw's truly care compared to some companies I've worked for. 

I left this place after working there for a while. They change management like people change their underwear and each time the staff prays  that it will Get better but by the time I left it was the worst I have ever seen it. Residents are at the bottom of their list. Money money money is all they want and are willing to fill beds with anyone to achieve this doesn’t matter if it puts all others at risk . Management is horrible their and lets power go to their head and I have seen once great nurses and doc turn into monsters while the management position. No support and staff are overloaded. All in all save yourself the hassle and stress of working here. You will hate your job and find it very disheartening for how these poor residents are being treated. 

I worked as a nurse there very briefly because it was such a negitive place to work. There is no team spirit and the residents are neglected my the staff. Not resident centered  care- all task focused. Team complains of being over worked and underpaid. It’s a zoo with residents having no purpose to wake up in the morning- all very depressing. I agree with other reviews that say this place should be closed down but unfortunately the residents can’t afford the Scheigle villages which are truly great examples of teams loving their work and excellent resident centred care.

From not changing their briefs to shovelling food in their mouths, the staff don’t care. All the psws do is sneak as many smokes as they can and then breath all over your loved ones face. As for activities.....unless you are a favorite, expect to sit in your room until it’s your turn to be quickly washed and shoved into bed. God forbid the staff actually slow down and take the time to use the lifts to transfer patients safely to and from bed. The lack of support from management is ridiculous. Unless you complain to the ministry, your family member will be alone when they die.

I was placed here with my agency in February 2023, and out of all of the facilities I have worked in, LFNH takes the medal! The RNs are kind, supportive and really go out of their way to make sure your day is going smoothly. Lots of assistance and support on the unit. I would love to stay here fulltime but unfortunately the commute from Kitchener to Guelph is hard when you’re doing it 4-6 days a week. I wished I lived closer so I could snatch up the fulltime line permanently! Any LTC will be busy, but the residents here are amazing, it was so easy to fall in love with the facility. 

The PSW'S at this home are severely burnt out due to the fact that their is not enough staff, the residents at this home can be highly violent. At this workplace their was a lot of drama between co-workers and people would deliberately try and get other PSW'S fired. Management is horrible, I had a complaint about a co-worker due to threats made and the GM essentially ignored the problem and told me to get over it. The residents aren't changed enough and the PSW'S can be abusive, La-pointe fisher doesn't care about residents safety.

I worked at this place for almost 3 years, I would say I really enjoyed working at this place. I agree it’s an old building but old is gold, management is very understanding, respectful and helpful, residents gets the best care they deserve. I am not reluctant to say that I have learned so much while working at this place as there will always be new learning opportunities  comes along the way while you work. I am very happy I joined this place to work. 

Honestly never worked at a place worse than this the staff are not trust worthy and will lie about you to the bosses to make themselves seem better and get you fired. The poor residents who live there I feel horrible for they can't afford to go anywhere else and they get ignored here by all the staff who turn a blind eye to lazy to actually do the job the building should be shut down

Friendly people, adorable residents, very lively and satisfying! Mainly volunteered to see if I was suitable it enjoyed doing this kind of work. It turned out not to be but I learned how to work well under pressure because anything could happen. Residents can be unpredictable and it was important to find a solution as soon as possible so things don't get worse!
