I was young, about 18, and I only had a few previous jobs before this agency. I was recently graduated and finding a job in Abbotsford was and still is difficult for my age range. I got to experience building water pumps, cleaning bakeries, shovelling berries, building crane mats for the oil rigs, sorting dirty laundry, and packing water onto Pallets. 

The work always varied and while you are paid everyday, you can always ask them to pay you once a week, twice a month, monthly etc. It was also cool when working in a construction environment, and say they normally pay their employees 11.50 if you actually work for them, Labour Ready would pay you 12 dollars per hour. So it was worth it in the end. 

I found it helpful and very unique. 

I hope I can return to them once I finish my schooling, college is fun right?

I have worked at Labour Ready on a part time basis since 2008.They are prompt in payment and to be fair to them without their role of Daily payments to most workers who earn a hand to mouth livelihood in this city of Toronto,life would be very different.
You can be totally broke by 6:00am but comfortable afford some food by 3:00pm courtesy of the Labour ready management system.They are always there when the going gets tough and i for one experienced its magnanimity in my hardest year of all since coming to this country----2012.I had been laid off in May 2011 got a contract in June the same year which expired at the years end.Labour ready did not disappoint when i approached them in March 2012 all the way to October 2012.
Their darkest spot is still low wages of $10.25!!! This renumeration can hardly make ends meet in today's Canada.Hopefully they may revisit this very daunting mark on their perfect reputation soon.

Working as a labourer for Labour Ready is indeed what you make of it. One has to be very focused to wake up early everyday to attain work for the day as it is not guaranteed for everyone on a particular day. The atmosphere can be challenging as there are all sorts of people seeking work but with your goal to simply get the job done, you should not have any issues with anyone.
It is a great character builder overall as you get to work in numerous places in a short amount of time depending on how often you are called back to the same job site. With that comes a lot of new knowledge about all kinds of work fields. 
Like my title says, it is not something you want to do as a career, but it is good for something on the side to keep you busy and laced with some money for basic living.

During last summer, I had the chance to go out and do varieties of work such as listed on my resume, gaining some experience in the work field that would ease my way to a more permanent job. A typical day would be to arrive to the work place near or before 6:30 am and sign in, then you take a seat and wait. One of the workers will call people out for some jobs and they get to chose to accept the job or not, usually it is on best match dispatch. You are not guaranteed to work, if the worker hasn't called your name by 7:30 am usually there is no more work. If you have been called out and you accepted the job, your co-workers can vary from day to day, as some jobs last one day, others weeks and sometimes the other workers are too sore or are busy the next day and can't come back.

The leather ranch was a fun work place with dealing with customer who wanted leather products.  I have learned commiment was inportant and doing your best on every instance.  Management was responsible ans very studious.  My co-workers were commited and were very ordered with there daily position.  The hardest thing with the job was the positions hours 15min break did not seam enough.  My most pleasureable experience was serving the customers expecially when they find what they like.  Labour Ready was a good place to work.It was great training to get back into the work force.  My warehouse position was hard work but show I have the get up and go and can work hard long term.

a typical day at work would start out with a coffee and to the job site. you always have to have your safety gear on at all times pace your self when your working because some days you work yourself out of the job that's supposed to be a month long and your done in two weeks? I learned to always have plenty of water on construction sites to always keep it clean. I have no complaints with the management they have always been good to me. I'm a team player and a team leader but when you go into a job you learn something new each day. my co-worker's know I'm naturally competitive but there is nothing hard about it if you like being out of the kitchen and office and love being on your feet then it's alright

It was a comfortable atmosphere that allowed you to work uninterrupted when completing necessary testing to ensure your elegability to all employment positions offered. 
Catered to everyone's individual needs when offering placements they were kind and understanding and flexible. They made it a great experience

Jobs are available but you need to meet the qualifications for the position.
I had a contract with a company but was DNR because of lack of work so I couldn`t work in another one of their factories. 
I enjoyed housekeeping at this one job site where I was working for five days..
.After a weekend musical festival I was part of a crew cleaning up the grounds around the campsite areas.  
I have been with this company for a year now and the main jobs are with the company that I was DNR from. 
I haven`t given up . Still looking for that job with my name on it.


Since labour ready is a temporary labour agency they don't have reliable work every day, but that is standard of any temporary agency. Labour ready provides single day placements and pays the same day after the job is completed, on a first come first serve basis. 

Employers through labour ready vary widely, as there is no screening of the work environment. Some of the worst people I have worked for hired through labour ready, as well as some of the best. Labour ready staff are very friendly and helpful, and we're willing to work with me when I was living far from the office (I have transportation).

Usually day to day work with the occasional long term position. However work is never guaranteed and some days you walk away with nothing. Job availability when they have it is usually first come first serve. The staff try to do their best, however they get a lot of corporate flak for paying out overtime and there is almost no room for advancement in position nor an increase in pay rate depending on the job contract. References are also very difficult to acquire despite the vastly growing skills and qualifications a labourer acquires over time.
