The main issues I experienced were a poor work-life balance, an exceedingly stressful environment, questionable scientific practices, and a far from satisfactory lunchroom.

To put it bluntly, there was no respect for personal time or boundaries. The work hours extended far beyond the traditional 40-hour work week, with evening and weekend work becoming the norm rather than the exception. This often left little to no time for personal pursuits or family life, which, in my opinion, is fundamental for maintaining a healthy mental state. As a result, the work-life balance was heavily skewed towards work, leading to burnout and decreased productivity.

Workplace stress is expected to a degree, but the levels I experienced here were extreme and unmanageable. The pressure to produce results was intense, with unrealistic deadlines and expectations set by management. There was a pervasive culture of fear and anxiety, leading to high staff turnover and a lack of morale.

The lunchroom, perhaps a minor issue in the grand scheme of things, was nonetheless a representative symbol of the overall lack of employee care. The facilities were poorly maintained, with outdated equipment and a lack of cleanliness that made it an uninviting place to take a much-needed break. The lack of investment in such a fundamental employee resource was disappointing and demotivating.


Management at this company touted itself as being customer-centric, but completely missed the point in its behaviour. Practically, all decisions made were to the detriment of the customer, despite customer feedback and often a willingness to work with the company. Long-term investments that would genuinely strengthen customer loyalty and edge out competitors were mostly ignored. Money was allocated toward geographic expansion and having executives travel extensively. Employees doing the real work are spread thin with impossible expectations placed on them, without any real resources or process-oriented managers to help them succeed. The result being an endless cycle of saving face with customers, followed by repeating the same mistakes. The reputation of this company has been significantly tarnished since new management took control and I'm hopeful that the new regime that is in power will make genuine strides towards being customer-centric. 

People are friendly, stressful work environment and management. If you can't deal with a lot of stress, you'll need to learn to if you want to work there. The stress affected me a lot, which in the end caused me to quit as I couldn't deal with it anymore. I wish you the best if you start working there! And hope you know how to deal with stress and people complaining about others behind their backs instead of working out their issues with each other (This includes management and co-workers alike).

I liked the work and the shift I worked with, but I couldn't deal with the communication problems that came up all the time and the stress.

Don't even bother. There are many other place you can work to get your foot in the door. The HR department has their hands in too many places and they essentially run the company. They don't like you? Forget about being honest about the company and they'll try to fire you after you've quit. You're a good worker but call in 1 too many times? Doesn't matter they'll find a way to keep those that show up and do absoultely nothing and throw you out to the curb regardless of how well you perform. Performance evals? non-existent. 

Good employees are treated just as well as bad employees - they do not care about your work ethic. Do yourself a favour and forget about Labstat.

Lab employees are very much so seen as disposable. You will be expected to stay over time, and forced  to work weekends during their busy seasons; and then possibly let go when they’re less busy. At Labstat there is little room to grow and the raises are a joke ( it’s literally like 20 cents). Depending on you’re position you will mostly have to work rotating shifts, with no afternoon shift premium (you do get a night shift premium if work straight nights). 
Management is also extremely cheap; to the point where they canceled social events (including their staff Christmas party)
Overall would not recommend, unless you absolutely need a job.

The worst part was the manager always pretended there was nothing wrong , no warnings or no trying to make employees learn new skills. they just kick you out when they don't need you. Even the pay compensation is the worst the CEO and directors get all the money. YOU ARE ALWAYS CONSIDERED JUST A NUMBER. No consideration of the employee. The people in the company keep changing you never know who is here or they laid them off. Even the work culture is pretentious, everyone talks behind your back. NO JOB SECURITY. NEVER WASTE YOIR TIME HERE. there are way more better companies in KW area than this one.

The company when i started was okay to begin  for entry level experience. Now recently the company  let go their senior most scientist and supervisor. They have to less people to work. Work is always stressfull. Management dont care whats going on in lab. Just care for money. Only profits. Underpaid. Overworked. Faulty equiments . Ineffiecient managers. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
For beginners who want to gain experience, a very stressful environment and labour work with a low pay rate, only management makes money through politics. no appreciation of employees, only micro-management.

Macro-management, higher management do not want experience, they only want labourer who can work according to their needs

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
only politics. no work culture, professionalism.

I highly recommend people who need laboratory experiences for fresh graduates or people who wants to work in a mild workload or not too ambitious. You will learn a lot depending on what you are trained on but gonna be repetitive at one point. 

people are very friendly (this is the best part). A lot of overtime opportunities (they do not force you). Management is improving slowly. But still low pay and incentive is not much. If you are ambitious, think about this job as a stepping stone.

Don’t apply to this company if you want to advance. Also don’t apply if you hope to evade hierarchical power structures of ppl who might even be less qualified than you. Don’t apply if you want to be prioritized, or respected cause you’re not the priority the money is, and it’s evident. You’re dispensable. The best part are some of the lovely staff.
