Good intentions and a few great people aside, it is extremely difficult to progress the County into a more stable and effective way of functioning for the residents.  Council’s understanding of the actual role they fill as representatives of residents, setting levels of service and performing acts of governance seems lost in the current enabled system of micromanaging all aspects and functions of Administration and directing the work of employees. 
From programs, projects, personal favours, who to hire, where to hire from, budget process for funding to resourcing contractors the current “just keep the Councillors happy” regardless of if it makes sense or not method is not working. 
Years of enabling this current way of running the County has resulted in the crippling inability to move forward, make decisions or accomplish anything due to the overwhelming involvement of a Council that has no interest in Governance, or fiscal responsibility. Decisions are painfully difficult to get even over the simplest of circumstances and considerable time and efforts have been wasted by employees, consultants and contractors over and over again only to once again circle back to previous ideas already discussed and ruled out. 
I hope the best for them but the changes that need making in order to truly make a difference for this county are not going to be made as long as most of the current Council and CAO are in place. Sad but true. 

Work started at 7:00 and was usually done by 4:30 Monday through Thursday, Fridays we were finished at 3:30.
The Lead hands know what they are doing and are excellent mentors. The crew drives all over the county to maintain county lots such as: Ball Diamonds,  Recreational Parks, the town of Sangudo and other Hamlets.
Except for the lead hand and shop personnel, your co-workers generally change every year because the majority of them have started going to University by the next summer and/or found employment else ware.

This place runs off of; gossip, toxic behaviours, rumors and everyone trying to go for another promotion. It is very small and connected, almost no one has your back if you don't say yes to everything and their behaviors they will let you go which is why they always have multiple Peace Officer postings for less than 6 months at a time.  They try to run as authoritarian to their staff as they can.

My review of Lac Ste Anne County includes a good place to work.  It is a diversified place to work with no room for advancement within each department.  This office is undergoing a lot of changes within the county which affects the county members.  Communication sometimes is not at its best but the county does try to make sure that all of the member of the county are familiar through different ways of communication. I feel the county is a good place to work if you are used to do only one thing for the rest of your life and not advancing within.

Some of the Staff were great to work with.  Be careful though, they hired me on broken promises. They didn't have an offer of employment ready till the day I started, even though I requested it many times previously before I left my other job.  They said they would take care of training but they didn't. They later terminated me because they didn't follow through with what they said they would do prior to the offer of employment.  

Salary is much lower then a lot of other places.

A typical day at work started at 8:30 a.m. Duties I learned at my job involved, answering phones, entering purchases on the comnputer, photocoping, pulling staples and running errands.
My boss and co-workers were very friendly and helpfull, providing a great work enviroment.
The hardest part of the job was when there was nothing to do and they made me pull staples.
Working on the computer was the most enjoyable part of my job.

If you’re not a local resident, be prepared to drive a lot into work. My department didn’t believe in working from home during a pandemic. Not a whole lot of civilization out that way. They lack the resources and finances of bigger munis, as expected. The office building is also falling apart. There are some fine people who work there though, that make it worth while, and I will appreciate the opportunity. It was not for me. 

I organized and carried out many different summer programs and fun activities for children across the county. I worked in a team of three to six other leaders and we focused on keeping the children safe, occupied and made sure the kids were always having fun.

Takes a long time to work your way up..jobs tend to change from day to day. Safety is not on high priority at the county.  Nothing is an issue until an accident happens..

If you don't live in the area, you'll be treated like an outsider. Expected to be in the office each day, unless you're in management, who disappear for hours and days at a time. Toxic culture and poor internal communication. Very redneck and unprofessional.
