Laidlaw used to represent Quality Driven, as their slogan said. Much has been lost in that regard over the years. There is no drive to ensure customer satisfaction any longer. Drivers are just cogs in the machine and easily replaced now. Management views drivers as a liability, rather than an asset. Divisions do not communicate with each other internally, causing delays in dispatching, repairs, service, etc. There is no more open door policy. Staff changes a lot more frequently than in the past leaving everyone wondering who's left in charge. Very chaotic and confusing work environment. Not very efficient or productive, which leads to poor mileage. Compensation is MUCH lower than industry average, so coupled with the poor miles, drivers are left with little to take home. 

The trucks are comfortable, which helps since you're parked a lot.

Indeed is a great place to work. Like any company that goes through massive growth in a short period of time, there will be challenges; like culture shift, obfuscation of vision at different levels of management and inconsistent planning. However during the 'teenage' years, we're getting over some of those growing pains and really coming into our own and re-establishing our culture, clarifying our goals and delivering clear plans to be successful.

Everything used to be extremely fun and carefree, but things always were when you were a kid! Now that we're growing up, things are a little more serious, but that is critical to continue to evolve as a business.

Additionally, in context of a global pandemic, Indeed is consistently exceeding expectations of how it is supporting its employees, communities and clients and I am truly proud to be a part of this group.

I recently joined this company and I'm pleased to say that it has been a great experience so far. From the moment I stepped in, I felt welcomed, valued, and respected. The company culture embraces diversity, and despite being different from others, I was fully accepted as a member of the team.

One aspect that stands out to me is how they appreciate and acknowledge my work and efforts. It's incredibly fulfilling to know that my contributions are recognized and valued by both the management and my colleagues. Additionally, I appreciate the open communication channels, which allow me to express my opinions freely and be heard.

Overall, this company provides a positive and inclusive environment that fosters personal and professional growth. I'm excited about the opportunity to stay here and continue to develop alongside the company.

my typical day starts off with a walk about the shop.. inform dispatch of what jobs are complete.. what is currently being worked on and what is scheduled in for the day... continued by closing externals/parts invoices/work orders for the shop... handling any service calls for our equipment break downs that might happen in the day... Answer any incoming calls into the shop from drivers.. to keep the shop flowing flawlessly through out the day.. Everyone i work with is very helpful... it is definitely a great place to work.. hense my 15 years and counting :)

Electronic pre programmed trucks slow and lethargic cameras idle shut down can't run the truck to stay warm or cool no pay raise in over 4 years

Pathetic only thing that matters is the almighty dollar 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Silly nonsense just the typical baloney

honestly don't have a lot of bad things to say about this place.  the guys are the best part and although I am no longer there due to moving cross country, I keep in touch with a lot of the boys, 

the management was always easy to talk to and i never had issue bringing up problems i had on the floor.   

i did my schooling through this place and there apprenticeship program of 8 hrs. a week for 75% of pay really helped me plus the overtime if I wanted it.  

definitely recommend for an up and coming mechanic. 

the office is completely run by previous truck drivers that should have stayed in the truck, kids that worked in the wash bay or relatives of management that have no related skills. you will work 12+ hours a day with no overtime. Will be expected to lie and work out multiple log sheets so you can get your day done. In the end of the day you risk your safety and spend so much of your time working for them and in return have no job security.

They provided a lot of training when I was first hired and continue to support me. You are always learning something so the day feels like it flies by. I have stayed with them for a long time because of the support of management and potential to move up the ranks. They were very helpful with getting all my College  paper work done which doesn't always happen at all shops. 

Great place to work.  I get to "visit" cities all across Ontario and Quebec, all while staying in my office in Norwood, Ontario.

I have learned a few new programs here at Laidlaw.  The most enjoyable part of the job is dealing with TA's and Parts Personnel while ensuring the units are repaired and on the road.

I have worked for this company for a little over 3 years and I have learned so much! This company is really big on promoting within rather than out sourcing, they help you grow and develop. Hard work does not go un-noticed. 
I like my co-workers, my management is accommodating and gives positive feedback. There are fun company outings and events, I have great benefits and salary.
Great company to work for if you want something long term.
