During my interview, I got asked if I was interested in eventually being put into school to become an apprentice & I voiced that I would be. I was also told there would be consistent work all year, & numerous projects coming up. I got hired on the spot after my interview, then I got let go because there apparently wasn't/isn't enough work/projects, & because they hired 2 apprentices & they needed skilled workers. 

I didn't see a point in me being asked about my interest in becoming an apprentice, or being hired as someone with no Roofing/Sheet Metal experience, just to be fired. I found it a waste of time & money for both myself & the company, as I spent over $200 for the tools I was told I would need for the job I was hired for (I still ended up not having everything I needed as not all the items were on the list) & because they realistically could have waited for apprentices specifically to apply, instead of hiring someone with no prior experience in the trade on a whim. Especially if they didn't have enough work for the people they were deciding to hire.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Always busy, good work, great people for the most part.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Work load can be a lot, and they don't do drug screening so safety is sometimes comprised.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was fun even tho stressful, work together to make days good.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
What you expect, it's hard work, it's unrewarded and can be frustrating, but it's good work worth doing.

I've been employed with Laing Roofing for over a year now and love coming to work everyday.  Great atmosphere and employees.  I am busy from the time I walk in up to the end of the day. Some days can be stressful and busy but we help each other out when needed because that's what a good team does. Laing Roofing is one of the best companies I have worked for and hope to be here until I retire.

Always Started work at 6 to try to beat the sun. I wasn't a big fan of most of he co-workers it was too intense. The hardest part of the job was having the foreman always yelling for you to do stuff but he would never explain exactly what he meant or how to do it, the only enjoyable thing about the job was getting the experience.

Bickering and turmoil between management and senior staff caused a lack of organization and what can only be described as a challenging way to start each day. 4 

Would not work there again to much back stabbing between workers and bosses. Was not a fun place to work there no one tryed to work together only interested in trying to make them self look better at other workers expence

Torch On
Learned there are several different rolls and materials used in this line of work. Base and Cap sheet, 180 - 250 grd.
Proper use of fall equipment and tools necessary for getting the job done right and safely 
Paper work fall plans and permits needed to work in specific areas or locations from industrial to commercial work sites.

Shingles
Tear offs x2 (not experienced)

Moved to Kelowna from Alberta being they do things slightly different in Bc was a learning curve and management was understanding. Work life balance and feeling like you’re part of a giant family made that less stressful 10/10 would work for them again 

Great place to work. Since I'm an apprentice I was interested in the schooling bonus and tuition payment. It is good pay with wage reviews that are scheduled for you. Good management too

There are a lot of awesome people working at Laing that work hard nd do a great job. Lots of opportunity to go to school and get your red seal while making money.
