The owner sees staff as disposable, this was evident during the handling of the pandemic. Mass lay offs and tripled duties for the "lucky few" that got to stay. Turnover is incredibly high because staff either get burnt out with too much overtime or not enough hours to survive (rather than firing staff they don't like they will phase them out by only giving them 3 hours a week which definitely says something about their ethics).

Communication between departments is so terrible to the point some members of management would have full on breakdowns during the work day/night. 

Hopefully with the spotlight being shone on the hospitality industry and misuse of "casual" contracts after covid things will change, however this is probably unlikely given the only concern for the owners seems to be how to spend as little money as possible. 

This company will do whatever they can to not spend money, unless it is on marketing and media. They know nothing about actually working on the shop floor. This is evident by their constant need to cut hours for staff at last minute and their desperate attempts to not pay staff properly. 
They will micromanage yet give you no support and lie to get you to work for them. 
Egotistical and rude owners and upper management who would rather make videos and play dress up in front of a camera then address the serious issues going on in their store or bar/restaurant. 
Either too many hours to the point you are exhausted or or too little making you unable to afford to live, you can't say no otherwise they will phase you out. 
So much rule breaking during the covid lockdown, they really just don't care about staff safety or wellbeing. 


It is a business that focuses on local brews, unique events and all round good times! There is opportunity for professional development if you are committed and room to express/bring your own ideas to the table.
 
Many staff are local hires, but we have an amazing seasonal crew that rush back to the Lake of the Woods each year to enjoy life on the lake, summer jobs and a pint with friends at the local brewery (us!). 

While the craft beer industry is full of good times, it can have its challenges. We are a tourist destination that goes from a town of 15,000 in the winter to over double that in the summer months. As a popular destination for both locals and tourists, the demand of work can be hard but it is rewarding if you enjoy what you do.

This job is so fun and upbeat. By far the best job to have in the summer months when downtown kenora is flooded with tourists, its busy and everyone is having a good time. The staff are great and easy to get along with. A lot of staff are locals as well as lake residents that come for the summer months. you get to build a family working at the brewing company. it truly is the best place to work !! I still talk about my summers working at the brewing company and i haven't work there in 2+ years! if you want something fun, laid back and job that will leave you satisfied financially.... work at the brewco!!

Exciting and fun company to work for. The owners/management set goals for their team and reward accordingly, in addition to perks like discounts on products and beer, staff parties, and incentives. The owners promote from within when possible so many of us have taken on new roles since starting with the brewery.
The hardest part of the job is keeping up with pace of working in this industry, as it can be busy and stressful, especially through the summer months. The most enjoyable parts of the job are coworkers and obviously, the beer. Overall, BrewCo offers rewarding career opportunities in an exciting industry.

While some days can be long and the demand high with deadlines, there are others that involve staff beer training, volunteering at local events, photoshoots, and ending the day with a pint at the bar with friends/co-workers. 

The owners are committed to the company, to staff and to the community. There are many perks that we receive (discounts on food & beer, etc.), many charities and local organizations that we donate or partner with, and future company goals that we hope to achieve as a team.

Days are typically very busy, but that helps the time go by so much faster and there is great table turn over which is beneficial for making more money. Sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming but there is a lot of great staff/managers that are very helpful! There are so many great people to work with, we are like a giant family that also hangs out outside of the workplace. Managers are easy to talk to if there is ever something to bring up to them. Working here over the past few years has been so very enjoyable and I've learned a lot about beer and have improved my customer service skills.

Nepotism is at its best. Supervisors only employ friends or family members, they appear not have knowledge of ethical leadership practices and do not consider advocating for their employees part of their job description. Instead of offering support, training or guidance the management will ridicule you behind your back and eventually fire you. There is no room for growth in a toxic work environment like this. They promote based on personal interests rather than best fit for the position. 

As a former employee, i can say that it was not a great experience.

only good food are the burgers and some apps. I pray that they have gotten their act together in the time I was gone, since I made some worthwhile connections there, but I am less than hopeful...
