Pros:

Cons:

Advice to Management:
Employees are a company’s most valuable asset. A focus on inclusive, transparent, and supportive leadership could help rebuild trust and morale. Clear communication, flexibility, and equitable opportunities would go a long way toward creating a more positive and productive environment.

Working in the Taber facility was the worst mistake I have ever made.  My career path has not yet recovered.  There is a culture of ignorance and "we have always done it this way..."  This has led to a facility where everything is in decline.  The head office is in Montreal so the focus was elsewhere.  I would suggest making this place your last resort unless you enjoy working with unskilled individuals.

  There are very few areas in which correct business methodologies are adequately applied, and the result is many meetings without accountability, or action.  Productivity suffers and blame is the result.  This facility has many key roles filled by individuals who enjoy "playing office" but not many who can actually effect change or commit to action.  Unless these roles are changed over to individuals who have professional experience and their big boy listening ears on during meetings, you would be wasting your time and sanity.

  There are some lovely people at the facility as well, but they suffer greatly on a daily basis because of the incompetent and downright abusive behavior of others.  Avoid working here at all costs.

Last 5 years this has gone from a great place to work to a toxic one.

Management just care about max profit and numbers, cleanliness, employee safety and anything else take a backseat.

Lantic made record profits and revenue, over a billion dollars in 2022 yet they insist on forcing workers to change to a 12hr continuous shift model, contract ended in Feb 2023 and its been continuous shifts or 
go away.... been on strike since Sep 28th with no end in sight as if today (Dec 4th).  Dental and other benfits erroded, and They refuse to follow BC's leguslated sick pay law (they require workers to fill our 3rd party insurance forms, matter is before the LRB) 

Lantic supervisors been working  12 to 16+ hour shifts to try and run he plant at greatly reduced capacity, nobody cares about them instead the higherups brag about it

The company is rotten to the core, the apples are not only bad, but rotten



My days working here was easy. I took over the position of being a beet grader. I would separate the good beats with the bad. I also would use the saw that was beside us to trim off the roots from the beet. It all had a specific timing so I had to be quick. What I learned is that we all had to be careful of where we would step and where to go. It was sort of a dangerous environment to be in but we all managed. The only thing I didn't like about this job was that there was this certain smell or chemical that would go around to new people in this factory and get sick from it. Though, the enjoyable part was getting along with my co-workers.

Lack of proper tools,parts needed for job availability.

Overall friendly, but clicky. Management might listen, but don't follow through.

Depending on who work with. Can be trouble free or a full hot stressful situation.

This company has been around for over 130 years. It's a food manufacturing plant, so Yes it's all about production. If you're willing to work hard you can easily make enough money to live in this high-priced city. 
The facility is old; but it still produces as much, if not more sugar than it has ever produced. 
Capital Investment is on it's way and the future looks brighter than ever for the facility to continue for another 130 years!

Found a considerable satisfaction in solving complex, process and equipment issues both old and new. Enjoyed seeing co-workers learning from my experience that allowed them to become more confident and effective as each month went by. I took a lot of pride in seeing production levels and targets being met that were thought to be unattainable by supporting managerial staff.

Very easy and simple tasks. Majority of work is strictly assembly line-like. Can be extremely boring and mind-numbing, employment is extremely stable if you do your job properly and behave. Opportunity to advance is quick and easy with in house training.

Day shift/night shift til 10pm. I came in with a skid ticket and had plenty of time to apply it in the field daily. Did Lock out /Lock in for cleaning of the Pile machines. If you've got a decent crew the night shift flies by happily. Farmers/truckers that continuously flow through are friendly and polite. 

There a lot of good people who work there. There is an old style of work culture which needs to be updated to more current standards. Also the safety standards are behind the times. Middle Management prefers to do their job from there office and is not very proactive.
