Management wasn't the nicest or the best at actually managing people. Employees suggestions and concerns were pretty much ignored. 
Some employees got special treatment and it was quite frustrating to work around. 

Due to covid, there wasn't much to do and employees had ample free time to do whatever they pleased. Instead of the managers giving the employees literally anything to do, they would get mad and tell us to get moving. We would all pretend to do something because there was literally nothing to do sometimes. 

Some days there were too many employees and there wasn't enough work for everyone, other days there weren't enough and you had to rush around doing other people's jobs. 

Also there is literally no mental health support for the people staying there. It's desperately needed. I personally had quite a few residents discuss this concern with me and it was very sad to see management to do nothing about it.

Also HR is an actual joke. Don't trust them.
On the plus side, free high school cafeteria food.  

We have three different shifts in the organization. And I work in the evenings from 3-11. I am now looking for day shifts from Monday to Friday. 

At the organization, we deal with clients from Nunavut in the Baffin Region that comes to Ottawa for medical purposes. 

I have learned a lot how to deal with the daily operation at the front desk, by accommodating clients, letting them know of their appointment dates and travel dates. I also do other duties with the organization with the Referrals department by entering Future arrivals, booking travel, entering appointment dates on the web system and monthly billing. 

The hardest job with the organization is dealing with clients who are here for hospital. 

I enjoy working with the organization because of my co-workers and the clients we deal with.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing is good about the company if I could give Zero Stars I would. Racism,Sexism, fire associates just before there 3 months. Promise promotions then give it unqualified people. Dealing with Rude disrespect from upper management. Nothing but lies

Upper management does Nothing blames everyone else . Can’t even help clients from mental,physical, substance Abuse

Management, lack support there of, low level of pay.

Medical Boarding Home for Inuit who have from Baffin Island for advanced medical care in the Ottawa area.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Office administration, people interaction, dealing with all aspects of organization including transportation, food and medical needs of clients.

Co-workers are nice and fun to work with.

Unfortunately the union they have do not know and do not understand how this company works. Therefore management is still in charge and makes all decisions cause the union as no idea how to act.

Management is strict, unprofessional and have a tendency to put down there employees. You will not advance in this company.
Very stressful, you don't feel like going to work in the morning.
The only way to resolve the issues is to change all managers and vote the union out.
Until then it's not a good place and environment for a workplace.

Deal with unpleasant and unprofessional management.

Toxicity and unpleasant . Unfortunately work environment because of mismanagement is really toxic and lack of communication and respect.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
No comment. I explained in previous questions very briefly.

Larga Baffin is a medical boarding facility that works with the Nunavut government. It’s a fast paced work facility, that requires multitasking. Making sure all appointments are kept. We dealt with a lot of cancer patients, mental health illness, people who have or had severe illness. Basically we worked with Inuit. Hardest thing at times was the language. Majority spoke Inuktitut more than English.

Management in EVERY department needs to go.  They have no idea what they are doing and will blame you for things that you never did.  Avoid this place at all costs.  If you value your mental well being you will apply somewhere else.  The guests are amazing to deal with but you will be abused by management.  Apply some where else.  RUN!!!

Very unorganized, very, very poor management. They say they promote a safe working environment but on a couple of occasions I was put in harms way following management directions. I worked there just prior to union coming in and at that time breaks were taken only if time prevailed, often breaks were non existent. I would not recommend working there.

A typical day at working with Larga Baffin Ltd. was repeating the same things everyday. Clean up all the washrooms, go to each rooms, make the beds, throw away the garbages, sweep and mop the floors, wipe all the counters and cabinets. Clean the kitchen and living room. Fold laundry.
