Was super excited to start when I was first offered job. Quickly realised after my first two weeks how horrible the pricing structure was. Potential customers quickly lost interest after comparing prices to current suppliers ( and that was lowballing at 10% commision to get in door). Manager support was non existant despite being told there would be strong mentorship, the only time i heard from them was near the end of my time there when i was job hunting for something else and i let my numbers slip. As a Canadian employee there was a huge disconnect from main office in Chicago and it felt like pulling teeth trying to sort things out with them over email or phone for every tiny issue.

 I wouldn't recommend this job to anyone UNLESS you are being given ACTIVE accounts and taking over for a departing salesman. Cause building up a new territory is a nightmare with the issues listed.

Salary fair, but reduces rapidly after 1 year. Benefits excellent but expensive.
Excellent training for outside sales. Some competition from old timer sales agents who have picked the territory cherries. But the biggest problem is the price of almost all products offered. Good service and quality product has a strong value but you can`t demonstrate these positives when your price is anywhere from 50-200% higher than the key players. Management is indifferent to this; likely as they can do nothing about it. Good step off for future sales positions, but be prepared to move on within the first year unless you are hired to take over an existing territory.

Acquiring sales base on a cold call basis takes some getting accustomed to, but is enjoyable for the most part. Making sales goals is very satisfying I learned to be more assertive and confidant in myself. The hardest part of the job was heavy lifting and set up of bolt bins in maintenance departments. I would sometimes have to empty rooms of old bins and set up new which required heavy lifting. I did enjoy getting to know all kinds of people in different areas and made lifelong friends who I am still in contact with today.

very little knowledge passed from people that have it to those who need it. I had a title change but no salary increase for the increased responsibilities. Was fired for attending an emergency dental extraction. It didnt matter that i was still wearing my bracelet from the emergency room

Support for sales staff is sad and your hands are tied a lot. Overall a good job but based on inside sales and what your sales manager has to work with I can’t recommend.

A typical day starts out with planning, executing and fixing inventory cycle counts. Depending on the day of the week, after counts, I fix primary fixed bins for their min, max and replen. quantity limits, monitor and adjust incoming PO's, product audits and returns processing. 

it's a good stable company. poor management and typical corporate work politics.they are more on DIPLOMA if you want an advancement right away. they don't appreciate hard workers employees.

Working with Lawson is solid. Benefits are great for couples and families. Quality product offering. Work life balance is excellent. You make what you put in essentially. If you put your head down and grind. You'll be rewarded.

Not a financially rewarding place to work. This is an intro sales position. Management makes the money, compete against long time agents, decreasing salary over three year period. Minimum car allowance 250/month.
