I had a challenging experience at this company that ultimately led to my termination. I proposed a cost-effective solution for picking up equipment at an event, which was delivered by management without prior approval. Despite having documented discussions about this, I found myself in a difficult position. I chose not to escalate the issue, wanting to protect the company's reputation with important partners, but this decision cost me my job.

During my time there, I received mixed signals from supervisors regarding expenses. 

The job expectations were often unclear and changed frequently, leaving little stability. I dedicated significant time and effort, including opening new sales territories and achieving top production in my district, but felt undervalued. I was even warned that management was looking for reasons to let me go, which created an uncomfortable work environment.

While I found the Eastern Canada team to be exceptional, I advise caution for those considering positions in Western Canada. It's essential to remember that work-life balance is crucial, and it's important to prioritize family. This experience taught me valuable lessons about corporate dynamics, and I'm glad to have found a healthier balance in my professional and personal life since then.

This review reflects my honest perspective on opportunities in Western Canada.


I worked there for 2 mths, I am a professional sales rep by trade and have not seen such a thing.  The send you out to leads that are not even warm.  At trade shows they pressure people to give there info and then send a rep to there house to pressure and harass the home owner until they buy the product and or kick you out of the house.  It’s a one call close . 
In the two months I had the most sales and made a total of $2367.98 I spent 1500 in fuel in my own vehicle, long distance calls to the USA with my own cell phone ($746.) 200 on oil changes.  You start your sales at $36/Lin foot and you keep coming down till your commission is gone and the home owner buys.  Now what they will tell you is it’s better to get a sale then lose a sale even if it means no commission.  I now work for a real exterior company and I have sold over $1.5 million in sales this year alone of trough and gutter protection and have made good money doing it, not having to pressure the customer.  Stay away they will use and abuse you, kick you to the curb and bring in more people to take advantage of.  
My entire class of 10 left in the 2 month time frame that’s got to say something about there seedy ways.

Starting out as a instalation subcontractor was easy enough but the headache associated with the installation manager soon became apparent. Through disorganization and not knowing the skill levels of the installers dealing with him quickly became a headache and when things did not go his way he would start to be condescending and just a nightmare to deal with. Couple that with a predatory sales team who take advantage of mostly elderly customers by charging them 30-50 dollars a foot for a product that doesn't live up to the sales pitch, you'll soon start to wonder why you work there at all. considering typical rates for the installers themselves range from $1.50-3.50 a foot the incentive to play along with the con just isn't there. 

Dont waste your time!!  Sales position in Alberta. Had good Interview to start. Hired right away.  During training, was very rushed through in 3 days to learn a weeks worth instead!! Was told verbaly many things that were not corrected later after starting. Misleading information provided by managers!!  When doing sales, the managers always wanted the immediate sale not matter what. After They talked to customer after your presentaion, would undercut what you had figured out (according to Leaf filter calculations) and almost give away the product at cost, not allowing the salesperson to even make any commision on it!!! A waste of time and effort on salesperons time.   NOT EVERYONE PURCHASES A LARGE $$$ ITEM ON THE SPOT, but managers didnt allow customer to take a day or so!

You drive and pitch the product (keep to the script they say), estimate, close in a high-pressure sales environment. 2-4 calls a day rain or shine. Leafilter wants the sales today. Pay is 100% commission only no hourly wage, no gas or vehicle cost coverage. During your call and after your pitch, the sales manager offers discounts during your call that push your commissions to little to none. If it's not sold, managers come in and undersell your call at a lower price and the commission is gone. If you make slight mistakes on your estimate they take heavy commissions off. You will work weekends, evenings, even holidays, and take calls because others quit or don't show. Brown nosers in every group they train. Don't buy equipment for the job, if you do keep the receipts because you will need to return everything later. It's 1 in 100 that make 100k.

As an event marketer 
You are asked to basically harass every person that walks by your booth 
And to continually pressure them to get their name and whatnot for you to pass onto the telemarketing crew. 
The telemarketers will then set up appointment for an extremely high pressured over priced sales pitch that may work in America but is bothersome for Canadian people. 
The Product itself is very Creative and looks of excellent quality 
My problem is of the way it is sold and distributed here in Canada 
I have also heard many many horror stories from previous customers about after sale service issues as well as from potential customers that had estimates and felt bullied and that the price ( upwards of $30/linear foot) was excessive. 
NOT Worth the effort to work at this sweatshop

American company with American job couture.
Terrible, terrible management, install managers go to the US. for training
( gutter school ) on how to install gutter protection and also how to maximize profits at all cost.
If that means scre...wing the installer, sales reps and the customer over then so be it, it’s all about the money with these guys and believe me it’s all about the money, You’r a absolute nobody in they’r books.
They send you to canceled jobs hours away, with wrong colour, 
Bad info, etc. It’s your loss.
They deduct pay with no explanation.
Horrible communication and lack of information to get the job done, you figure it out! 
Constantly on you back to work 24/7, they just won’t stop demanding you working 10-12 hour days, all days. 

Ps. You are never going to make $1500- 2500 a week when it’s all set and done. 

Just stay away!

I've been installing for leaf filter for about a month and a bit now, though there wasn't much in the form of training, the job is extremely straight forward and pays very well. As long as you cross your T's and dot your i's its a nice stream line gig. The only complaint i would have is some days you have to travel quite far to a job, and though they pay travel, its still very time consuming! Owen sound from London is 3.5 hours both ways, that's almost an 8 hour day in travel alone.

As for managers, I see a lot of people complaining about "favorites" but I've noticed as long as you are honest and keep communication open with them they will help you with anything you need. note to those who are complaining; If all you do is complain, would you want to deal with you?

Poor product that doesn’t work in our winters. Poor installers as they are paid well below the going rate. They are not employees and receive very little training. 
They do not clean out most gutters as promised. 
Salespeople don’t know why they have parts of their jobs deducted from their pay. As there usually is never a reason on the statement.  Appts are not confirmed and many salespeople quit due to poor appts. The homeowner doesn’t know why we showed up. There is a lot of driving. You might have an appt in Niagara and then Brampton and then Bracebridge. They don’t pay gas or mileage. 
  A very American Military style company where you are treated like a grunt.

Flexible hours,  company always paid on time and travel if you went far enough away from home 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The top sales if you do well. They give you raise and incentive to keep getting more leads

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Nice and very professional but works with you and your life 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Go set up your area to pitch your sales to get the leads for people to get more info and free quotes from the company.    And of day you take stuff done or just close up if you will be back next day to do the same
