It's a decent part time job. There are few benefits (fun and enjoyable) depending on who your team is and where you're located. It depends whether you get decent teammates or not. It's usually fun and relaxing, but it can change from easygoing to suddenly very hectic and very demanding instantly. Members are usually fine and managers are okay. They used to pay for time they took outside of the work place, but they don't anymore and they take a lot of time from what I've heard anyways. Now, I've heard they're making things a lot harder to do. It can be very difficult if you're partnered or teamed up with people who don't want to work. The students you get are a range. There are always problem kids or else this program wouldn't exist. The problem I've heard is upper management. And they've had issues with late payment at times.

Sometimes, they also have issues with their hires, especially during the middle of the school year when turn over is high, they have a tendency to hire whoever and sometimes the new hires during those awkward in between (e.g. new hires after the holidays) are not the best (no experience, no problem solving skills, not the best mentally, etc.). Also, they're slowly cutting funding for the program. I've heard they're cutting hours from 3 a day to 2.5.

To work there is very interesting for me, because I deal with people , who need help, like new comers or people with learning disabilities. To assist them in the process of learning or settlement is very important and I feel like I enjoy helping people.
We develop different programs which will enable them to connect with others easily making the process less stressful.

I loved the staff, my manager, and my students. There was a really positive culture amongst the tutors. 

I was given the same students and planning became easy after my first meeting with them. They try to give you a lot of information before their first visit. I did some basic assessments and talked to my students about their learning styles just to be extra sure of where to start. 

Awesome work environment with a great program coordinator who is always available to assist with programs and answer questions when needed.
There is a culture of promoting those who volunteer with the company (hiring from inside). I started as a volunteer and was offered a position. Such a fantastic way to make the volunteers feel appreciated!

Unhealthiest work environment I have ever experienced. Nothing is ever improved. People are taken advantage of. Horrible turnover rate because employees cannot stay longer than a few months. All of the program coordinators left over the last year. 

I learned to use unfamiliar computer programs while helping the kids with any issues they were having.

I can't recall any difficulties during this volunteer work.

The most enjoyable part about this experience was being able to help the kids with the programs and having fun during games and exercises.

Fantastic organization! The staff’s are professionals, caring and well organized. My experienced during my placement job was outstanding. They really care and truly wants to help individual with learning disability to overcome their weaknesses and provide the best opportunity for the child to learned in a special way.

I liked working for LDAS it was a fun summer job, good experience. The people there were nice and laid back. I was given freedom to do my work and not be bothered by the boss.

This was a great opportunity for me to understand boundaries and working with troubled youth and how to connect with them on a daily basis. There were 3 of us that conducted an after school program, it was great.

Very accommodating. Low funding unfortunately. Strong values. Strong sense of team. Dynamic and fun work. Lots of appreciation for staff, volunteers, participants, family, friends and more.
