Managers and upper management have no idea how to manage people under them. They are not supportive and women are NOT valued. No upper management are women accept one assistant CEO and she doesn't see people as people she only sees them as numbers.  Employees don't trust anyone, are always on edge and fear they will be next to loose their employment. No incentive to stay there.  CEO feels that you should be grateful just to receive a paycheque.  Doesn't believe in incentives.  the best part was when i left.  I was finally free.

I would not recommend this company.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The SMT are incompetent and out of touch.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic. The general manager and county manager have no idea how to run a business.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very busy with internal and external customers. There is not enough support workers, to much middle management.

Overall coordination of administrative and operational aspects of the Planning and Development Department. Motivated staff with some internal inertia. The hardest part of the job is getting older staff and management to accept that change of focus is needed in light of the proximity to the City of Edmonton.

Input inspection reports from day before.
Organize inspections for day.
Tool box meetings with other inspectors.
Conduct inspections.
Research new/proposed products.
Answer emails and phone calls.
Doscuss codr issues with colleagues.

Work days are never the same. They very greatly from day to day. The management need to make a decision and stand bye it. Some time the work place mentally can be very childish. Dealing with the public can be very trying at times. 

Excellent company to work for as a seasonal worker. Staff are very friendly and easy to get along with. Hours are good, and the pay is excellent.

Great place to work during the summer. Not much room for growth. Some poor culture in the form of permanent staff who are set in their ways. They also don't seem to care much about seasonal staff, which is a shame considering how important they are during the busiest time of year.

They replaced me with an automated gate system . I worked here many years and loved my job. Wanted to continue until I turned 65. I was given over a years notice that this gate system was coming but it was still so hard to have my job end

It was a great learning experience working for a local farmer. It was a handshake agreement for the position. He offered a place to stay and meals as part of the agreement. It was a jack-of-all trades job. Any task he had I would do. Pay was based on hours.

The Ag department has great people and is  good place to work.   Job training is provided and safety is important.   There is a variety of different jobs.   Some time is spent working in groups and other times work in done independently.
