Very low pay. Lenscrafters will keep you in poverty. Low salary, and just when you think you are full time, more people hired and back to part time you go. All about favoritism, your previous experience and knowledge means nothing unless you are an employee who was referred by another employee or a friend only then will 
you quickly be trained and moved up surpassing others with years of experience. Literally, will train a person with absolutely no knowledge into management just for being referred by another manager.  If you have experience Lenscrafters is a step down in life.Totally retail orientated, sad to see how such high tech medical field is crammed into a retail pushed business. It's definitely all about money for Lenscrafters and their GM's. What a joke to even hear what a store assistant makes in salary. Employees with previous experience so NOT worth it! New graduates from Platt college always get hired here and good start but it's all retail. If you love this field this is only a starting point. Move on as soon as you could. Put your education to better use. I wasted my time here. And walked away from this field I loved for better pay. Wish I never worked here, I was so limited to what I was "allowed" to do, because GM wanted to train and promote personal favorites or friend referrals. Punished for my knowledge. I loved that she finally learned and educated herself because she only knew about retail management. That I could say was my greatest joy watching our GM learn how to use the lensometer; Because she actually yelled at me once when I went to get a reading off the lensometer. I loved this field so much I found incomprehensible how a GM could run this field without even knowing how to read a lensometer. Only the tip of my view of poor management. Her big numbers only brought more money in her pocket. Hitting goals and numbers had no meaning to me. I worked to help people with what I know and loved to do.

A typical day at work for me includes major multi-tasking; I answer phones and book eye exams for our Dr. that is attached, I dispense eyewear, I find the perfect frame for a customer, fit the frame and do any necessary adjustments, I discuss their options for lenses, deal with any direct billing to insurance providers (when applicable), and take their payment. Inventory control is part of my day to day activities (i.e.: doing the paperwork required for transferring product from store to store, receiving product when it comes in, removing damaged product from stock etc.). Counting cash and making up deposits at the end of a night. I help the general manager with scheduling associates and inputting said schedule into E-Schedule. On saturday's at close I run payroll. When the store has promotional changes I flip the store, changing out old signage for new. A big part of my job lies in coaching and developing my team...if they aren't at sales plan, what can I do to help them get there? As manager on duty, I authorize any discounts, returns, and exchanges. This job has really taught me how to prioritize with tasks and get a multitude of things done all at once.

 Essentially even as a manager, you're nothing but a puppet with no real control or decision making power. 
The brand has tools where we invest so much time in setting them up and get very little return from it. 
The tools that are used to predict traffic and other trends are extremely inaccurate too. 
They do not let the managers run their business. There is no trust or have confidence in their abilities. 

You cant' really bubble up any concerns to regional managers. The ZVP are so busy having calls  and meetings with them.  If you try to  talk to the regional they give a blanket response not really addressing the concern.

There is a tracker for everything, even things that are easily available online for review must be printed out and hand written for tracking. 
Hardest part of the job- All the expectations the brand has with limited support.( And no it's not just bad time management on the managers part) 

Overall toxic company culture. Will  never recommend a friend to work here.



When you work for this place you have to be able to be part of the group if you're not part of the group you will never be able to advance or get any type of credit or advancement the manager in particular or managers in particular sales supervisors assistant manager's assistant leads of sales whatever you want to say are all together as a click they all hang out together they all will watch each other's back all they do is Gossip gossip gossip and never get any work done also very racially motivated towards people of color especially blacks always profiling always stereotyping the manager basically just will stay on her phone the whole time never help people out I was in a personal situation where the manager wouldn't help me I even talked to the assistant manager never did anything for me I would never ever want even my worst enemy to work for this place is to the fact of how they treat people the managers wont do anything for you unless your in their click

I've been working at this workplace for four years and I love the people I work with.  My typical day at work starts with a huddle with the manager or assistant manager.  We review our work day, our goals, and our sales targets for each associate.  My co-workers are all very friendly, but of course there is some friction where we fight for the commission.  The hardest part of the job is handling sales objections from the customers and closing the sales where our prices cannot be beat anywhere else in North America.  The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing the customers walk into the store and talking to them about their eyewear and eye concerns.  I am an aspiring optician of 2014.   I wanna win the opticianry award of the year.  Thank you everyone for supporting me and letting me be who I am now.  Thanks PK, ND, AB, SA, GF, NS, SS, GC, AMP, and SH for everything.

The company only cares about numbers and conversions than the people who actually work there. A typical day feels like calculating how many patients will come in and how many we can convert, even though that’s not always in our control after doctor exams. We’re often understaffed, don’t have enough hours, and are still questioned about performance. Management is expected to work almost every weekend, and it feels like work-life balance or employee well-being isn’t really a priority. Overall, you don’t feel valued as an employee, and the company could really benefit from improving its processes and support for staff. They have no empathy or people skills. They expect you to do online trainings on the sales floor while customers are consistently coming in, then they wonder why you are not updated with certain processes. The structure isn’t solid! They need to revise the whole system in order to be more effective when retaining staff. 

I like the work environment of the specific store that I'm in. The GM, LM and associates are friendly. Work is fast paced but exciting. 

That being said, upper management and pay is forcing me to look for a job elsewhere. Upper management is essentially what you would think of a evil corporation. They don't really care about anything associates or even GMs want. So even if the GM have good intentions for the associates their hands are tied by corporate. I sat in several conference calls and every single time upper management always talks about how horrible the region is doing and how we need to get our numbers up, and then cut hours and incentives soon after because we didn't reach our goal or whatever. 

The pay is so bad I won't even need to talk about it anymore, just read the other reviews. 

I love my co-workers to death but I simply cant deal with the cooperate culture.

A normal day at work was answering phones, checking jobs for customers, selling glasses and educating clients on what would be best for their life style and vision needs. Cleaning and visual merchandising by materials and colors. Repairs such as a broken arms or lenses coming out of frames and replacing screws or nose pads. I learned how to ask the right questions to learn the correct information in order to be able to provide the right products. I also learned soft skills; the right way to relay a message in a professional manner. The most enjoyable part of the job was making connections and really making the customer happy with their purchase. My co-workers were so much fun and always there for support when needed. The management was very supportive and always there to teach new skills and new ways to elevate customer experiences.

-There was lots of on your feet work in the lab and the work was tedious but rewarding because of the lens grinding. There was lots of communication between the opticians and the lab personnel to make the lenses correctly for customers.

-I learned that work is not always serious, but fun. Working in a lab is strict because of the procedures and checklists and maintenance but it can be highly rewarding, following directions and making lenses.

-Management was of a high-caliber and quite flexible because of customer inquiries and requests for eye-wear.

-Co-workers were helpful and always willing to make you feel part of a team.

-The hardest part of the job was not forgetting the repetitive lab tasks necessary to keep the lab running at a high level of efficiency.

-The most enjoyable part of the job was helping customers see again when they got their new eye-glasses and eye-wear.

You can work here for years and unless you plan on becoming an optician there is no room for growth. Pay is laughable for the amount they expect you to learn and adapt to. Current managment practices are questionable (learn your rights as an employee before working here.) Enjoy your 1-2 shifts a week if you're lucky cause that's all you'll get as they like having as many people on staff to ensure they pay YOU as little as possible. Also don't let anyone fool you, you are replacible. Don't waste your time here unless you're desperate for work, or plan to use them as a stepping stone for someplace better. Which you deserve.
