What is the best part of working at the company?
The interaction with students! Every day is different and interesting.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The administration and the lack of ability to achieve set goals for the students.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is very micro managed, yet for the wrong reasons. It is more about power trips from the administration. Teachers, support staff, etc don't feel like they get to excercize their skills or contribute accordingly. Too many decisions are made be people who don't really interact with everyone or know what is going on.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It is frustrating to work in a  LBPSB high school on a daily basis, there is more politics and scrutiny than actual planning and taking care of our students. We are always dealing with administration bullying the staff while trying to portray and maintain an angelic image and impression! It's not at all what it seems.

I enjoyed working for the Lester B. Pearson School Board. However, unfortunately, I was only able to get one contract with the board. There are many teachers in the board and not enough teaching jobs to go around. Unfortunately, many teachers who are on the  verge of retirement are getting a lot of the part-time substitution positions.

Plus, many young graduates end up getting a foot in the door through connections with the principals of the schools. This makes it difficult for teachers who are new to the board to get contracts.

Overall, I found the students in the schools that I was in to be very pleasant to work with. Plus, I found that most staff members were very professional and friendly. Overall, my experience with the board was positive. My main complaint or concern is not being able to get something more stable in the board.

I treasure my experience working with younger students in a very supportive board of education. First class teachers everywhere. Extremely busy as I was learning too, at least an hour before work getting set up. Not a moment to rest throughout the teaching. Often used lunch hours for co-curricular activities or prep. Often an hour or two after school prepping and cleaning up. Marking at night. Very creative rewarding working with children K - 11 throughout my time with the board. It was amazing to learn how to do music with the younger age group. Very different in many ways from high school but some skills transferred nicely. Never had worked with K - 8 before. The students, teachers and administrators were first class. 

I am fairly accustomed to the routine of most elementary curriculum, whether I work in French or English.  I follow the teachers prep and add my own personal touches. I am able to effectively diffuse and mediate problem behaviors.  I truly enjoy being around  other teachers, as they are truly creative innovators who constantly upgrade their skills. The hardest part of the job can be the lack of consistency of being a substitute teacher, though it has been quite consistent for me for a few years now.  The most enjoyable part is helping children learn, gain confidence and hopefully create an environment where they feel safe and valued while I am in charge of replacing their cherished teacher.

The people and environment. Supportive and well organized.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I haven’t had stressful issues working here, at times I would say having to navigate other peoples schedules.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s one of the best environments I’ve worked at everyone is very supportive and helpful. A hybrid type of schedule allows people to work in a very productive way.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Self driven days where you can create your own weekly schedule allowing you to get your projects done early morning or late day. Feels like you always want to do more.

Like many places of business that look to hire part-time employees, the LBPSB has a hard time organizing their employees. 
I have worked for them for almost 4 years and every year its the same story. Employees are only notified about their work placement within 2-3 days before being expected to start.
Once you are officially hired and your employment has been confirmed, then you are good to go. The LBPSB is always willing to answer your phone calls and respond to your emails addressing any concerns you may have and/or notifications of an upcoming absence.
All in all, a great place to work. The beginning is pretty scary though, since you aren't generally told anything before starting work, and are never guaranteed a position.

Nice coworkers and boss at Clear-Pointe elementary 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not enough work hours per week 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Quite good. Except for a couple of teachers who are very insecure and have difficulty team teaching with a co-worker. They feel threatened and prefer you to be quiet and be their subordinate instead

What is the best part of working at the company?
Good hours  people were helpful

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No stress happy to work I want to continue working fir school 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very good I want to continue I got laid off want to go back I am waiting for phone call 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I would clean classrooms take out garbage then do bathrooms then go second floor do the same an first floor clean offices .

Superb opportunity to make a difference with children from marginalized backgrounds.  An inner-city school where the intergenerational transmission of poverty presented motivational challenges, but through excellent teamwork and the support of administration solutions to complicated problems could usually be found.

I started working with the Lester B. Pearson School Board when I finished high school. The pay was great and was enough to pay for my expenses when I was going to university. Being a janitor for the school board is also an amazing first job to have because it gives you the opportunity to learn valuable skills that will serve you well into the future.
