I worked here twice and during both periods of employment I witnessed terrible management and business practices. Management has clear favorites and is willing to ignore toxic attitudes and behavior from lower management as long as they keep run times relatively short and don't complain. 

Training of employees is minimal at best, and a large amount will have to be self-taught during shifts, as management is often nowhere to be found. Night shift employees are particularly out of luck in this area as the Mailroom Manager pulls double-duty for days and nights, but is never in office at night, and cannot oversee these operations. 

Safety is minimal at best and employees are expected to provide their own tools and ppe. Despite presence of heavy equipment, machinery, and heavy objects, steel toe shoes were not a requirement. 

From what I have seen, it is no exaggeration to say that management here does not care for the safety and wellbeing of their production staff, and I would suggest avoiding employment with the company

Telemarketing is not for everyone, you have to have the ability to talk to a complete stranger and sell them on an idea in attempts to have them sign up for a subscription. In this case it was selling newspaper subscriptions. For the most part talking to strangers was okay but at times it was difficult cause a few would be quite rude to you for phoning them in the first place. I enjoyed working with the other telemarketers at the time. My boss was nice and helpful. The hours were few and you don't make a lot of money selling newspapers. The hardest part of the job was the hang-ups.

This was an amazing place to work at one time.
But as shareholders and owners demanded more from management and employees, deep cuts were made over the years and as work loads increased, moral and salaries decreased, creating a truly toxic environment in which only the dedicated and desperate survived


I enjoyed my position despite the lack of hours available. However, the newspaper itself is dying out and this the company laid people off often. 

I had a dynamic work environment and I enjoyed the people who directly oversaw operations as well as the coworkers who joined my side. 

Sadly they did not have the means to keep all their staff. I wish I could have worked there a little longer.

No first aid supplies. Outlets blowing up. Poor safety . Lazy supervisors that talk down on people with disabilities. No one pays attention and will abandon you of ur struggling. You will end up taking over every ones workno one likes to work

Is a great job for someone in their youth and helps to get in the mindset of steady work and getting up each morning. The routine prepares for life, a typical day consisted of delivering the paper on time and getting to build friendly relationships with regular customers.

I worked in the Mailroom which is obviously way down there, I only worked a couple days a week as I was needed for the holiday hours and that was all, the Management there are awesome and it was good working there, everyone is friendly and the night never went by slow.

Tough office environment to work in overall. Don't apply here unless you have a thick skin and can handle underhanded insults disguised as compliments.

Cut backs were the hardest on all people staff was great. it was a joy i miss the work being able to work on your own and in the office. I learned how to help people and get a lot done in a short time. Hardest part was having to leave.

We would feed a production machine with flyers and sections of the newspaper. Problem solving was a very important part of running thee machine. The staff were knowledgeable. I enjoyed meeting coworkers from The Herald.
