•	Assisted with pregnant cats during their term, birth and after-care
•	Experienced with the upkeep of small animals including hamsters, dagus, rats, gerbils and ferrets
•	Comfortable around reptiles  

Management was always on site and constantly bringing me over to show me new things.

Co-workers were people like me who enjoyed taking care of animals.

Hardest part was emotional. Sometimes the emotional stress came home with me because its difficult seeing abandoned animals, especially the older ones which are harder to adopt.

I loved the environment, my co workers and the satisfaction of helping a life everyday.

Extremely toxic work environment. The fact that management is not doing enough to help the animals is the only reason most employees who actually care about animals stick around. They have to do everything they can with the little help and lack of compassion they are given. Staff is overworked and exhausted and can't keep up with proper building maintenance because they are drowning in animal care. In return, management will hire more staff and cut hours instead of actually having enough staff on shift. 

The Humane Society is humane to animals but not employees. The volunteers who have given high ratings don't experience the same treatment as do employees. It could be a great place to work but management does little to make it a warm, team-driven environment. Staff turnover is very high and is a consequence of bad management practices. Staff have little recourse other than the union and Ontario Labour laws. It's really heartbreaking because the employees love helping animals but the toxic work environment takes a toll on everyone's health.

Nothing positive to say really, loved working with the animals. But work environment is toxic, terrible management, co workers are cliquey, and treat others poorly . The building is overrun, animals aren’t cared for approprietly because there isn’t enough staff to do so .  

It’s unclean, things break constantly and take months to fix, which makes working and getting your tasks done next to impossible in a timely manner. 

Don’t waste your time here, it’s undervalued and unappreciated .

Revolving door of people coming and leaving so they now hire people that have no work experience for the job. Management doesn’t listen to employees and doesn’t care. The humane society alone is wonderful for the animals but the people running it are toxic. You will work 32-39 hrs a week for a part time position. They only hire part time but work you like you are full time. No one is able to get a raise until you have worked there for 3 years. 

Faced paced, mulititasking,  hard workers. I learned important information about many time of animals and how to care for them.  I enjoyed being able to work with animals and care for them.

Over run with animals,  animals can't or don't receive the proper care they deserve.  Not enough staff EVER.  Poorly run establishment by management that doesn't care as long as they look good in the media.  If the public only knew what actually goes on.  Shame 

I cleaned the cat cages , fed them as well and cleaned their food dishes , mopped floors , organized supplies etc..

Co-oped at Lincoln county humane society for school, really enjoyed my time there, people where great and friendly. Always had an affinity for animals.

This was a very fun place to work if you love animals. You get a hands on experience with all the animals in the facility. I worked with the dogs and cats while i worked there.
