Formerly, I started working in Toronto and then moved to Ottawa because of school. With manager's referral, it was easy to transfer and I got very lucky to have a good store managers in both locations. 

One of my favorite parts was the company training for product knowledge and having a lot of fun meeting new coworkers who were professional at their jobs. Before pandemic, the company encouraged some team building events or Christmas dinners. 

The hardest part of the job was covering for shifts that were last minute. Some newer seasonal employees would call in sick frequently or leaving the job earlier than expected date caused the regular staffs to work straight days. However, the team members were supportive of one another so the shifts were always backed up by different staffs. Our team was also like a family to each other, so it was like my second home. Unfortunately, some stores closed down permanently due to Covid-19 in Ottawa locations. 

The most thing I miss is collaborating with my co-workers and managers in the store, getting excited as seasonal products change. One thing I don't miss is the mystery shopper that came too frequently. Even though the goal of the Mystery Shopper is to motivate the staffs, I wished that they did the mystery shopper every 4 months, to allow enough time to learn everything in depth. Overall, working at Lindt & Sprüngli was my favorite job I ever had. 

If you love chocolate, learning about them, and like moving independently. This is for you. Most of the job duties really are taking your own initiative, ribbon tying, restocking/organizing and weighing & cashier stuff. You really need to study about lindt(know history, vegan/non vegan, how to count by weight) or have alluringly descriptive vocab to sell the chocolates as there are monthly mystery shoppers and they're pretty specific. There is weekly sales that change every Sunday that is overwhelming at first but you get used to it fast. 
My experience here is.. that you're pretty left alone most of the time but you pick up things fast and still get help happily if you need. Definitely for majority of training is that you're really learning on the job especially at cash. But what i like bout that is YOU can find something that works for you. And everyone IS friendly and there are no cliques/favoritism that happens at the etobicoke location.
It's usually small amount of permanent employees and you see why when it isn't the major holidays. So sadly that's my only complaint if you fell in love with the company and the people which i did. But I'd do seasonal again. Especially with my knowledge now. It was so flexible and easy to pick up shifts.

The initial interview made the job sound fun, I spoke to the manager and she told me about the times that she and the other employees had been dancing in the store whilst on shift, then I actually got the job and found out dancing was forbidden. This pretty much sums up the job, it sounded fun on paper and the interview and from my boss who constantly spoke about how fun our work was, but in the end, there were way too many very specific rules, you were expected to make no mistakes and provide exceptional customer service for not much compensation (Even key holders only made CA$ 15.00/hr, and there were know holiday bonuses) and mistakes and slips in performance were met with passive aggressive ridiculing and reduction in hours. This isn't even mentioning that a good portion of the job is barista work, and that there are no tips offered. If you want to work in a neurotic, strict and often hostile environment, than maybe you should subject yourself to this. For normal people though, don't let the interview fool you, this job let's you eat chocolate occasionally, but that's the only benefit.

You’re encouraged to learn about the different chocolates, seasonal collections, and merchandising strategies, which keeps the role engaging and informative. There’s a strong emphasis on customer experience, and it’s fulfilling to help people find the perfect gift or treat.

The team culture is positive and supportive. Management is approachable, professional, and genuinely cares about both staff and store performance. They provide clear direction while also trusting you to take initiative and make decisions when needed. As a key holder, I’ve been given leadership responsibilities like opening/closing the store, overseeing inventory, and guiding newer staff—all great opportunities for growth.

I enjoyed working at Lindt. It was my first job when I was 17. All my co-workers were friendly and the store management was very helpful and knowledgeable. It was a good place to build customer service skills, people skills, knowledge of inventory/stocking, and getting to eat chocolate was the best part.

However, upper management was a nightmare. Aggressive, very demanding, very authoritative. My regional manager could be a nice lady at times and she appreciated my hard work, but I found her to be too bossy a lot of the time, and this is something I noticed with all of upper management. They just brought an environment of gloom with them whenever they showed up from Toronto. It made me not want to come to work whenever they would show up.

Keep in mind I worked there 5-6 years ago, so upper management might not be as bad now as when I worked there.

If you're able to not have your feelings hurt by upper management, you'll find it's actually a good job, especially for a student/somebody needing work experience.

I've worked in children's clothing, fast food and health care. While each position mainly depends on the management... the way most stores are run are terrible.

NOT AT LINDT

I had such an amazing experience working at Lindt that I hope to go back. My manager was amazing and kind. Helpful and always considered everyone's availability and holidays without us even asking

The store allowed for enough hours and staff to almost never be short staff even when people called in sick. 

We got to try yummy chocolate! 

Management really spent time picking a team that would work well together and kept us upbeat through out challenges 

I even got bonuses even though I was only there for the Christmas holiday

The only disadvantages to working here were that it was minimum wage and my contract was only for the season

I was a seasonal employee to a full-time part-time. There is a bit of an adjustment of going by a script when it comes to greeting or what to say at cashier but it's not complicated. I love the consistent routine, I find it really calming to put the store back together after a rush of customers. This would just be remaking the truffle peaks, making sure there are no holes on the walls, and going to the back to get more stock if needed. I enjoy working with everyone here. The hardest part would be how chaotic it gets during busy seasons. This is solved pretty well by management by zoning, it helps when you just have one task to focus on. When it is out of season, the store is very dead and there will be less hours. On this day it is a main focus on keeping the store in perfect condition stocking-wise and focusing on the customers that do come in. This is so that closing is a lot more efficient. Overall a very good work experience.

Lindt is a great place to work. Working in retail, only expect to move as high as key holder. There in almost no room for advancement. The location I started working at was wonderful. The manager and assistant manager were fantastic people who knew how to treat their staff well, get the job done, remain organised and appreciated hard work. They saw your value and acknowledged it. The manager in particular was an excellent role model and loves her job deeply and does it exceptionally well. However the location I'm at now, the manager in particular, lacks organisation skills, is unfair to her employees work-life balance-you only get one week of scheduling every Monday-, inattentive to detail, always repeating herself, and is almost always a bit of a space-case.

Nice environment, good location, great culture. Lindt has very good chocolate and shares it with employees daily. Open door policy, always taking employees out to lunch, events and offers alot of draws.  

NOT CONSIDERATE WHEN IT COMES TO EMPLOYEES your best isn't good enough for them. No training to employees currently working the job. They don't think to help upgrade skills, instead they fire employees and hire new people.  HIGH EMPLOYEE TURNOVER 

They have different floors; logistics, finance and IT on one floor. Senior Executives and Sales on another floor you can feel the difference between the 2 floors. Very little minorities in the company especially on the second floor where Sales and Seniors are.

(Please note I only worked there as a seasonal worker so this information might only be suitable for certain times of the year) The store is beautiful, The layout is eye candy, and the uniforms are snazzy. I loved working there because the customers loved shopping there, you feel like you’re really apart of the store and if your good at customer service and are very engaged with people you will have no problem helping people shop. I made the most money from Lindt over any other job I had because they gave my a lot of hours and they always close at 8 if I remember right. So you won’t have to miss out on your late nights out. The pay per 2 weeks was averaging 300$ - 400$ for me as a part time seasonal worker.
