What is the best part of working at the company?
My time was a mixed bag. While many appreciated the free coffee perk, I personally found the beans not to my taste. As a non-dairy consumer, I couldn't fully enjoy the experience like my colleagues. However, the highlight was undoubtedly working with most of my colleagues. Their camaraderie made the experience worthwhile.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful aspect of working at LC is undoubtedly the overwhelming focus on managing emails. The constant influx of messages adds a significant burden to the workload. Additionally, there's a considerable emphasis placed on soliciting sign-ups for contests solely to increase ballot entries. This pressure to secure entries can feel excessive and detracts from other job responsibilities. Furthermore, the meticulous tracking process, including filling out tracking sheets and tallying the number of ballots and e-receipts, adds another layer of stress to the daily routine. While the job may offer opportunities, the excessive emphasis on email management and contest sign-ups can make it a challenging environment to navigate efficiently.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment  is characterized by a pervasive negativity and lack of opportunities for growth. Employees face constant pressure and scrutiny from certain members of management, creating an atmosphere of demotivation and stagnation. The absence of avenues for advancement or professional development further compounds these challenges. Instead of fostering growth and innovation, the company's culture perpetuates a sense of hopelessness and disillusionment among its employees. Overall, the lack of potential for growth severely hampers morale and job satisfaction within the organization

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day for me at the company involves starting by checking emails, and if it's a shipment day, assisting with stocking out items. Then, I transition to working the cash area, handling transactions, and ensuring a smooth checkout process for customers. Throughout the day, I also collect and enter any required ballots before my shift ends. While these tasks are routine, there are moments where I start to question my existence amidst the repetitive nature of the work.

If you dropped dead on your shift you would probably be chastised for not making sales until the ambulance came to pronounce you dead.

One of the worst companies I have ever worked for. Cheated out of commission and underpaid everyday. Don't work here, many people quitting and management will only make your life harder by making you pick up the slack or punishing you for not reaching targets that aren't obtainable. Never would I recommend this to my friends or family to work at or buy from. Owners are cheap and don't care about their employees, there are no incentives for loyalty or employment.

Whenever middle management comes around we get the worst suggestions on how to pick up sales as if we aren't there with the customer and know what they want. Its not helpful and its not useful when sales staff are fully capable of making a sale without annoying the customer.

This place is just bad overall with its products, lack of inventory, management. Its going downhill fast and the customers are the worst in the industry. I have been yelled at, physically threatened, snapped at, clapped at, summoned like a dog, all the worst traits ever. 

Do not work at Linen Chest. This is one of the worst jobs I have ever had. You have so many “duties” that you’re not even told about in the beginning, nor does it state when you’re applying you have to do the role of what feels like 5 different people for MINIMUM WAGE. If you don’t do what you are asked, the minute you are asked, you get backlash. Store managers, district managers and even higher ups are so rude and disrespectful to the staff, I have watched it with my own eyes and heard it with my own ears; not only that I’ve also heard the managers talk bad about other employees. Sales associates barely get any commission, it’s not even worth it. So much pressure is put on you for no reason, that you’re constantly stressed out to the point it makes you physically sick. A job where you will not get promoted or any sort of raise for all the hard work that has been put in and accomplished nor do you ever get any sort of acknowledgment for what you do. If you do something wrong, you get in trouble for it, then next time it happens you’re scrambling on how to fix it. Customers are verbally abusive. There is no work/life balance at all, especially if you’re a full time employee. And if you’re a part time employee in school/college/uni, they don’t accommodate your schedule and they don’t go by what your working hours are. There are really no pros to this company. So many cons. 

On the surface, Linen Chest seemed like a beautiful place to work. The first few shifts in the work culture presented everyone as one big family. 

By the third shift, things started to fall apart, and the heads were gossiping about everyone and everything. They would take one and half hour lunch breaks while the rest of us would be running around swamped. 

The cash team was barely trained, so we were all trying to teach each other, blindly leading each other. We had no support from head office, and we were incredibly understaffed. 

The customers were abusive, and it was a toss-up when answering the phone whether or not I’d have someone yelling at me because the company’s policies around shipping were not clear. 

The work-life balance was none  I’d get home and spend the night recovering from the abuse work then wake up and go right back in. I ended up quitting after three weeks after having a panic attack in the middle of a transaction with a customer who was screaming at me on a day when there were no department heads. 

I was hired on the spot by one manager who was great. She was acting as multiple positions and quit because of the pressure from the job. Then the new manager was extremely unprofessional and treated all employees she didn't like awfully. I watched her make multiple young employees cry, one specific case was questioning her living situation and her income. As well as fire another, then escort from the store and pat down another one down for asking for more shifts. 

No training at all. My only training shift I was thrown on the register and told to figure it out. 

Manager over hired cashiers and stopped scheduling others she didn't like to get them to quit. 

They do not respect scheduling conflicts. I explained before I was hired the times that I could not work, but was scheduled during those times every single week. 

Expects employees to do way more work than possible in the time given, then gets angry about jobs not being done. Also doesn't let multiple people work on one job at a time to help complete tasks.

While the manager was awful, the other employees were very welcoming to everyone and actually bonded over the mistreatment we were all experiencing.

Upper management has a terrible system that needs to be fixed. Managers are worked tirelessly to make sales, which created a chaotic working environment. Sales associates are pressured to sell to meet their qoutes. Almost every customer needs assistance from a sales associate even for overpriced home decor. 

Linen Chest has some of the most entitled and arrogant customers, who through a fit like a child if they don't get what they want and go as far as screaming at the sales associates and cashier to the point of them walking off the sales floor and seeking refuge in the stockroom. Management does their best to keep these customers out, but head office only cares about making money. 

Stockroom is disorganized and cluttered. Head office sends as many as 40 skids a week with very little time and space on the sales floor and in the stockroom. 

Linen Chest needs to pay attention to how the staff feel about working for this company and less on customers and making money. 

This experience of working for this company has opened my eyes a lot. They do not care for their employees, they will never give a raise when it’s well deserved to some employees but they ask for A LOT  from them with nothing in return but maybe a gift card to spend there lol like that helps with bills at home.

The work environment is terrible due to all the gossip and the negativity some coworkers bring, as if we’re in elementary/high school still (mind you these are 40-60 year old coworkers), always having to complain about something when they barely do their jobs only gossip. 

But there’s some coworkers who are really nice and help you out when needed. 

Overall, people come and go which is understandable, in  a week or less  being with this company drives people insane. The hours are always cut even when you’re a full time employee to 32 hours which is nothing and they say 40 hours but it’s really 37.5 hours and they won’t pay overtime. 


I really enjoyed working there because I was always busy doing something. Weather it was passing customers, making calls, closing and opening and getting orders, making orders, or even cleaning. I loved all the people I worked with and it was a good environment where everyone respecter each other. The hardest part of the job was when one of the co-workers who started after me thought that they could tell me what to do, and how to do it, instead of approaching me in a different and well spoken way. Another hard part about working there was dealing with the closing of the cashes before we ended because the system of doing it wasn't the best, and sometimes I would be stuck doing everything, however i sill managed to work fast and everything went well and balanced.

The work culture is sell as much as you can, they don't care and they make a really hostile work environment between other employees fighting over the same customers for the commission.

Metrics were sometimes unfair and some sales given to other people. Advancement is almost impossible to a management position. They will hire from outside instead 95% of the times. Corporate is terrible.

On the slow days you would make more money if you are part-time with minimum wage + 1% commission. Full timers were doing like $8/hour + 3% so on the very slow days you might get under minimum wage. 

There's a lot of rotation because they don't want to pay a fair wage to their employees. 

As a part timer I did maybe $14.50 -15.50 on average and I was a good sales person, I don't think most people were that lucky.

Management at any location will tell you what you want to hear, and not follow through with anything they tell you, or promise you.

There is no such thing as full time. If you apply for a "full-time" position, it is just a lure to get you in for an interview. They hire only part-time, and don't ever expect to move within this company. You can raise your sales as much as your can, you can work as hard as you can but you will get no recognition and you won't go anywhere. You will stay in the same place you start in.

At all costs, please avoid working for this company. You will never get raises, and you won't get a promotion, they will always hire outside.

This company is cheap, and will do anything to save the smallest amount of money.
