Much of Litwiniuk & Company's success has to do with their hiring process. In other jobs, there have been employees whom I feel like I can't trust due to the quality of their work, their lack of problem solving skills, or lack of focus. Think of the person in your friend group that plans everything, has good relationships with everyone, and is the glue that holds things together. Those people are rare, right? Well, at LitCo, there are 90 of those people - everyone at the firm embodies an A player.

The typical day starts with a morning "catchup" where everyone in the firm comes together in the same room. Past that, you have weekly status meetings with your team where you talk about people's personal and business successes, and then the team works on what people need help with. You also get an hour with your direct manager every two weeks, where feedback abounds - I've never wondered "how am I doing?" at LitCo because my manager tells me every two weeks. Lunch is an hour, and you get 30 mins of additional breaks on top of that. You are pushed to perform, but you are also given the tools to be able to perform, not just left to your own devices. Everyone is willing to help out at a moments notice, including the lawyers - there are no closed offices or mahogany desks here.

Unlimited paid time off is a major perk - if your responsibilities are fulfilled, take your time off (and more). The ability to work from home is also a major plus - imagine not having to get up until 10 minutes before you start work, skipping that commute and the rush to get out of the house.

There are many perks and benefits to working at Litwiniuk, but for me, the other people in the office are by far the biggest reason why you should want to work here.

There are no ‘easy’ roles at Litwiniuk & Company – everyone on the team is expected to work exceptionally hard. A lot of people would have a difficult time keeping up with the pace and volume of work here. Team members who do not focus well on their tasks will struggle. While there is a strong team culture, individuals are ultimately held responsible for the quality of their work. There is a lot of change going on in the firm and team members who find it difficult to adapt and evolve will struggle with shifting workflows and priorities. The recruitment process is rigorous and will ultimately require that you arrange reference calls with past supervisors, something most applicants might find difficult to accomplish.

If you are a skilled, adaptable and positive hard worker, you will succeed here.

I am one of the few people who left on my own terms (mass quarterly layoffs). I ended up being dismissed early due to my coach letting her emotions get the best of her in a conversation we had prior to my departure. They will use the core values against you while operations and management have the worst core values there. Colleagues were great for the most part due to the intentional hiring process, but there are many who foster the toxic environment. On paper this organization seems amazing but there are better places out there. Don’t get tied up in the idea of unlimited vacation because most companies offer what you would end up utilizing. It’s also unlimited on their terms. 

When Litco says they encourage freedom and responsibility, they mean it. You are entrusted with your own tasks and responsibilities right away because Litco recognizes that the team is comprised on competent and talented A-players. Bi-weekly meetings are held with your manager to discuss both personal and business matters, and to receive feedback/coaching. As a young professional, this is very helpful. 

The team is very supportive, friendly, and passionate about helping others. I also love that the culture is conducive for innovation and questioning of norms.

They present the company as the best place to work, and at first, it truly seems like it is. However, their core values are only applied when it benefits them, and not consistently across the organization or in all situations. If the company faces financial difficulties or if circumstances change, they won't hesitate to backstab you. They’ll fire you without notice or even the courtesy of a direct conversation.

Unless you're one of the lawyers bringing in the revenue, your position is far from secure – everyone else is easily replaceable. My advice: if you’re working here, make it a point to regularly look for other opportunities, because you never know when your time might be up.

Working at Litwiniuk is an incredible experience! You get to be part of a team of A players who love what they do and actually genuinely care about each other. It is always busy so definitely not the place for someone looking to skate by doing bare minimum. The energy and motivation you get from other team members is awesome and keeps you excited about work. I've never had that "ugh" feeling on a Sunday night, it's great. Lots of change, they really do give the team support and freedom to innovate and try new things so you have to be okay with a fast paced environment. Challenging but so rewarding.

- A chaotic manager who offers unhelpful feedback on your performance instead of giving practical advice.
- Wasting time learning about core values that don’t actually exist (they seem to do the exact opposite, especially blaming others)
- Frequent massive layoffs

Employees bullied and forced into "team building".  No recognition or appreciation for staff financially or otherwise.  Underpaid and overworked.  Overloaded with files and expected to work overtime for no pay and not allowed to take a vacation if "work isn't caught up". Management is too concerned with "culture" to address the real reason the staff turn over is so high.

This was one of the best jobs I ever had. Right from the beginning I was learning new things and felt involved. The people and the culture is what makes this place pop. It is unlike any other law firm and the support is unrivalled. Always supportive of professional and personal development. Overall amazing place to work. 

I loved the Lawyer that I worked for, he was delightful.  However, the management of the company was terrible.  Your over worked, under appreciated and forced into "team building days", which then takes away from the work that your performance is based upon.  Management has no real idea what their doing.  Be very wary of applying here.
