Local 27 Carpenters Union

I’ve been all over working for many sites over the GTA for this union, they only protect crew leaders. And unfortunately like most leaders they will take all the gravy work and leave the guys doing all the choppy stuff, leaving them making less as they already do because we put 10% of are earning in there pocket . Plus the contract you sign.. you’ll never get your full payout they only pay bundles no extras like the contract says all that the leader keeps you get nothing but the fun of doing the work anyway. “Take the work or go we don’t care” mentality…

What is the best part of working at the company?
Everything, I get to do work relative to my passion. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not much really,  maybe rain days. And when work gets slow.. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Amazing truly a multicultural. Enviroent filed with brothers that we All work together accordingly.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Easy going, continuous from what ever the day before,  doing Carpentry work.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I get to work in an environment which creates an opportunity for me to be the best version of myself.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Finishing the job within punctuation

Positive Environment and Safe 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy all shift trying my best to meet production needs and quotas

My experience with this company has been fairly neutral. The work environment is average, not particularly inspiring but not problematic either. Management is competent but lacks a visionary approach. Benefits and work-life balance are satisfactory, but there's room for improvement. Overall, it's a decent place to work, but not exceptional.

Local 27 helps get you started in a massive amount of ways to get into good work that cares about the rights and freedoms of their employees. With a multitude of different job types and opportunities the chances of find consistent work is great and the benefits, extremely helpful, for those that need them.

Days start very early and the work is sometimes very repetitive. There are days where you experience new things, and those are usually pretty exciting. If you are really good at something you may become stuck in that role for a very long time.

Local 27 carpenter union is an amazing union to be a part of. I had some serious issues that I felt needed to be attended to and my union rep has been such a great help when I needed him.

I more or less enjoyed my time as a carpenter apprentice. However, once you get into second rate, your job prospects are quite limited as companies typical go for cheaper 1st apprentices. I also found the work environment to be quite toxic and behind the times.

I enjoy that there is so much work that there isn’t enough time in a 10-12 hour shift to manage the productivity but keep the workflow going throughout project planning.

Go to the site I. The morning at 7 am, get changed, start working till first break then till lunch time and no break till you go home around 3 pm. 8 hours of work sometime you get over time.
